Since my husband's cancer diagnosis, I have been committed to knit hats for patients. Since texture is irritating for patients, I appreciate your recommended patterns. Peggy's Sleep cap is a free pattern that works well and is a quick knit. Fits the whole Fam hat by cozy up knits is my favorite gift hat. Great podcast. Thank you.

Great hat roundup. I love to see patterns I may have missed. My son-in-law loves the hats I make him so I’m always looking for a new pattern. I love Woolly Wormhead’s patterns. My favorite pattern of hers is Toph which is knit sideways garter with short row shaping to create the motifs. I have made several of them and love how they turn out.

One of my favorite hat patterns is the Pennask Hat by Knox Mountain Knit Co. It’s a beautiful classic beanie with a mountain range above the brim, using simple knits and purls and 1x1 cabling. This was how I learned to cable without a cable needle! I’ve made one in dusky lavender yarn with some speckles and stellina as a gift for my mom and it’s the only hat she wears all winter. Skiing, sledding, out for a nice evening, it’s really perfect for everything!

hey from the SE US! my favorite underrated hat pattern is the Spur hat by Hiromi Nagasawa of Plain Needle Works. It has a few hundred projects on ravelry so it's not like _nobody_ is making it, but I've never seen anyone talk about it on youtube or social media. I made it during the cold late winter here and i LOVE it. it's (almost) all over brioche with a huge folded over brim, so it's a _long_ make, but it's probably my favorite hat. The fit is fantastic, I love the graphic shaping, and it's SUPER warm despite being knit up in a fingering/sock weight yarn.
