    Lee and Warne. Together. From another dimension. They came together in 1975/76, toured Europe and UK. It’s just so difficult to describe how good they were together as one. Sans pareil. Without equal.

    great i had the great fortune to get a few lessons from lenny before he passed he was teaching in jamacia estates at his home . he also loved Wes i use to sing those solo,s to him .

    I remember hearing Lennie's The New Tristano for the first time and it was amazing. Still is!

      me too. changed how i hear music, esp jazz. at the time all i knew was miles, monk, hard bop...hadnt even heard of Bird!

    I wonder how he would have judge the curious success of Dave Brubek and what Konitz may have thought about Paul Desmond...

      Konitz spoke on Desmond in a couple interviews. According to the man himself, The first time he heard Paul play he said “oh shit! That guy sounds just like me!” And resolved to continue trying to evolve his sound. In addition, he has referred to the playing of Paul and Stan Getz and the ilk to be sweet but a little too “schmaltzy”

      @@leobird8756 Yeah, the sounds of Desmond, Getz and Konitz share a similarity but Konitz is consistently the most interesting player of the three.
