Hello Hello! I apparently spoke to soon by saying that my Henry VIII video would probably be the longest on the channel. Here we are again with a long video although with Elizabeth, there is quite a bit more than the average King or Queen to cover. Again, sorry for the delay, it has been a busy summer for my family and I. I don't quite know what to expect with a video this long on youtube but time will tell. I unfortunately did not get to do as many edits and proofing as I would have liked. So, as is the case with all of my other videos, if I catch any errors or if any errors are brought to my attention, I will add them to the "Errors & Corrections" section at the bottom of the video description. I hope you all are doing well, thank you for your interest in the video/channel, and Cheers!
Stating that Elizabeth I's reign would take less time to cover than Henry VIII's always seemed like a bit of wishful thinking on your part. Lol. I'm sorry this video was more extensive and time consuming than you had planned, but sure am glad we got over 2 hours of Elizabeth! As the first (arguably) successful female ruler of England, I find her reign the most fascinating on many levels. Thank you!!!!!!!!
Good writing! -and your style will mature with the reading of good writing. There's no rush. When I'm not sure what to do I retain the moral inclination to brevity and blabber until something utterly beautiful erupts across the pixel array.
Elizabeth I is my fave historical figure, & truly one of the greatest monarchs of all time; particularly as she ruled as a single female in an age dominated by male rulers.
Elizabeth I was as astute as her father in keeping her friends close and her enemies closer. She brilliantly got other countries to fight her wars and kept England safe. A great queen indeed.
No definitely Alfred The Great who actually repelled the Vikings personally and set seen for education reform and united England, plus common law etc Elizabeth inherited all this at an exciting time
Did you know Elizabeth I, introduced the notion of what we call today, freedom of speech. She basically stated, how do you know what people think, unless they can speak freely.
This is the first video of yours that I’ve watched and I will be subscribing regardless of the length. I’ve studied Elizabeth in college and even after because she is just so interesting. You covered her so well and thoroughly impressed me with your narration style. I’ll be binge watching your previous videos and eagerly waiting for your next one!
She is interesting because she was a total corrupt horror. Its a pity that much of her history is brushed under the carpet. She was a genocidal maniac just like Cromwell.
It’s always such a treat when you upload, I always get so excited and I’m never disappointed! So much of what people know of Elizabeth I is related to Shakespeare and this is such an incredibly thorough look at her reign and I learned so much that I didn’t know before. Your channel is by far one of the best finds for me on UA-cam and I’m extremely excited for the Stuart monarchs (they’re my third favorites behind the Yorkists and mainline Plantagenets).
@@huwzebediahthomas9193 I mean I know that. It’s just that so many people I’ve interacted with only talk about Elizabeth in relation to her patronage of Shakespeare so I like finding things with less focus on that.
Sound a lot like me. Although, The Bourbon are my very favorite Royal House ever. Then, and over a country, The Stuarts, then the Plantagenents, and then The Tudors! I love them all, who am I kidding, but The Sun King of France (Louis XIV) is my absolute favorite historical figure, King, and maybe favorite person ever of all history's greatest!
@@huwzebediahthomas9193 agreed… less focus?! - fine… this video is superb - but I kept waiting for one passing acknowledgment of Edward De Vere (aka Shakespeare) and the Queen’s tolerance/promotion of the Arts that indeed made her reign Golden…

She was clinically insane, she corrupted Britain totally, she caused Britain to commit genocide in Ireland, and she caused the Armada to be launched against Britain, and then treated the sailors like dogs after the victory.
Yes, I mean who wants to hear about her causing an Armada to be launched against Britain, acts of genocide in Ireland, or her deportation of blacks from Britain, or the fact that by modern standards she was clinically insane.
@@seanochroidheain6687exactly, she was another tyrant and towards the latter part of her reign it’s even more obvious but all the docs copy each other and praise her just because she had such a long reign with one or two large successes, it’s not the whole story. potato salad.
Mary was extremely kind to Elizabeth when she was small and even took her into her household and even made requests for new clothes, comforts etc for a young Elizabeth as she has all but been forgotten after her mother’s execution

Always look forward to your videos, no matter the length. I usually prefer long-form history videos anyway but man you are going to need to change your channel name soon. The length is growing in proportion to the no. of episodes. Plus, I hope you enjoyed your summer. You produce good work so it's ok to take time for yourself. Do you have an idea what you'll do after you finish the English monarchs? Will you go backwards from William the Conqueror? Will you do other countries- Scotland before the union, Spain, France, other less covered European countries?
Elizabeth did not fall to her knees. Ive seen the records at Hatfield House. She was sitting under an oak tree when a rider rode to her, and gave her Mary's royal ring. Elizabeth is recorded as saying " It is wonderful in our eyes".

Since Elizabeth of York and Elizabeth Woodville were both Queens as well, however, it seems that they only get the "numeral" or called "first", etc if they are the monarch and not the "Consort".
Elizabeth was very wise in my opinion. No matter who she married, it would have caused a huge problem. If she married a British man. To marry a French , or Spanish. She had to be careful with religion. She was a woman. The Catholic Church could have done her in. Though she may not have had the education that a male heir would have had, she was a very smart person/ruler!
