      I hope the number was actually 800 BY. But it would not be the first time I have seen a totally illegal number plate. About 13 yrs ago there was a car displaying a mumber plate of R00KEY. When I got close to this vehicle, I could see it was a totally illegal number plate, ther were no minor obliterations, the plate was printed R00 KEY. A few months later I saw the same vehicle, but this time the number plate had been replaced with the legal one R30 KEY.

    Scilly Isles roundabout. Legend has it that this was one of the first multi island roundabouts in Britain. Everyone thought it was silly, including locals who worked at the Ordnance Survey headquarters just up the road in Chessington. So it got put on the map as 'Silly Isles' but a supervisor thought this was a speling mitsake so it got put on the map as 'Scilly Isles'.

    I used to swing wide on junctions but I was towing a 45' trailer with 20+ tons of bales on it and driving a tractor. When I got back in my Ford Fiesta I didn't swing wide on junctions because there's no need to in a car regardless of whether it's an estate car or a "toy" car!!

    In fairness Tony, the driver might of known the middle lane becomes the inside lane for the A3 in a few hundred yards and he decided to stay out there for that reason. The inside lane becomes the slip road for the Ace of Spades roundabout. Still does not justify his slow entry/merge onto the A3 from the Toby Jug roundabout.

    I am one who HAS pointed out to you that a worforce act mainly under the direction of their supervisors. But the incident with the drain cleaner just after the sharp bend is terrible. They should know the risks of a rolling roadwork like that and have signs ahead that they move as they go along. You were correct to go under limit due to sun and bend - my dad always said 'imagine a brick wall across the road around the next corner, can you stop in time?'
    The first signage should have been placed at 14:05, the 1st sight you had was at 14:10.

    When you are joining a carriageway you have to give way to traffic already there, which means not forcing them to brake or switch lanes. You have to give way even if it means coming to a stop! Joining a carriageway and immediately swapping lanes without first getting settled at the right speed is just reckless.

    Vol 356 at precisely 06:38 the driver of the Ford SUV can proceed on to the roundabout because there is no traffic on the roundabout to give priority to. Plus, the right turning Nissan has provided a "shield" as described by the driving instructor on "Conquering Driving" UA-cam channel. I suggest the driver of the Kia needs to adopt the last line of Rule 184, and approach a roundabout at at more cautious and considerate speed.

    In a 50mph section today with average speed cameras, mini had been following me for a fair distance and it suddenly pulls out. Check my speed exactly 50, thought maybe they are local and know that section does not work? But no they just sit there on the opposite side of the road and make zero attempt to overtake. And they sit there right up to the point a car came towards them with his horn going. The road does split into 2 lanes but not for another mile.

    14:04 I noticed you moved left there before reaching the apex of the bend. An advanced driving technique is to keep as far right as possible, close to the centre line, until you have visibility of the exit of the bend. It increases the vanishing point and would have enabled you to see the obstruction sooner. If you had stopped behind the road works, you wouldn't have caused that oncoming driver to brake.

He signalled right and moved to the right without at any time straightening up for the left-hand lane before continuing into the middle lane. It was one continuous action. YOU should have realised he was moving across to the middle lane as I did when watching the clip for the first time. This does not mean that he entered the slip road correctly, because he didn't. He was too slow and should never have continued into the middle lane without at least picking up speed. BUT, it was ONE continuous and obvious action. They complained again saying that they couldn't see around the bus when reversing out. I responded with the relevant legislation as to distance from a usable vehicle entrance and the legislation detailing reversing into a driveway.

    I don't know the law but I live 2 miles from a motorway and use it all the time. 99.9% move to middle lane when they see a car on the slip road as I will do .I curse to hell and beyond those that stubbornly wontso I've got to brake and slot in behind given that one moved over .You do not want to be braking coming onto a motorway with cars hurling at you

    • @thelondondashcam
      @thelondondashcam  Місяць тому

      But braking and slowly down or speeding up is exactly what you should be doing on a slip road, it's your responsibility to fit onto the motorway without making people already on the motorway change lanes slow or speed up.

  • @johncranna9427
    @johncranna9427 5 місяців тому

    I hate these cars that lane change. They dont get anywhere quicker and youll always have lanes going at different speeds but averaged out you all go at the same speed. But why did YOU change lanes at 8:17, you did the very thing that you hauled up the Volvo for!!

    • @thelondondashcam
      @thelondondashcam  5 місяців тому

      Because we are coming up to the A3 turn off and I'm always either in the middle lane or outside lane because of people leaving it too late to go from lane one into the slip road.

    • @johncranna9427
      @johncranna9427 5 місяців тому

      @thelondondashcam Ah, I see. I don't always agree with you doing that but I do see on many videos that people leaving it till the last minute to get onto A3 slip road causes a significant backward ripple so I do understand you doing that. And I presume just the one lane change unlike the Volvo that was continuously changing lanes.

    At 17:20 You ended the video at the point the cyclist was approaching the next red light, did he stop at that one too? Many cyclists (as shown in many of you previous clips) proceed immediately before the lights change to green for their own safety, as this avoids the arsehole drivers who are competing for lanes, oblivious to the safety of vulnerable road users. This is is why many traffic light junctions have advanced stop boxes for cyclists. The reason why you may see many cyclists do this on you manner, maybe because there are too many Audi drivers where you live🤔

    0:20 the highway code is a bit lacking when it comes to slip roads on dual-carriageways. Those are not give way lines. It is generally the case you yield to traffic in the road you are going to join (such as yielding to traffic already on the circular carriageway of a roundabout before you join it) and traffic already in a side road before you turn into it, but it's not actually specifically illegal like it would be for Give Way and Stop line markings.
    So we have two 'should' instructions competing. The general advice that you 'should' anticipate what other drivers will do and always avoid a collision if you can. Along with the 'should' give priority to vehicles already on the road you wish to join.
    It's very poor driving to not anticipate that a vehicle emerging on a slip road might wish to join the main road, where else are they going to go?! It's particularly poor driving if there is a clear lane to your right which you could move into, how many lanes do you need???!

    • @alanclarke4646
      @alanclarke4646 5 місяців тому

      It's the responsibility of the person joining to adjust their speed to match. NOT the responsibility of person already on the highway to allow a joiner in.
