in my experience experimental steam capacitors is the better talent for "perma gattling play". you have to give it a crank every once in a while but it automatically recharges when you are not shooting. the stacks don't drop from shooting which pairs well with a burst shooting playstyle. I almost never have to put away my crank gun this way. 90+% uptime.
Wow, in my mind Zerkovich was a veteran Vermintide player, but looking into his channel looks like his first video. Guess i mistook him with Cookie. Both best Total War broadcasters for me.
I love this video! As an amateur vermintide player, it's great to see not only what a good Bardin build looks like, but how you can support him if you happen to pair up with one
People have already said most of what I would say about the Experimental Steam Capacitors, but there's one more thing I want to add. When at max stacks, you can crank once to reset the stack without overheating. This, with experimental Steam Capacitors, means you can quickly crank once when your stacks are about to deplete, thereby maintaining 5 stacks basically the entire mission with little effort, just a little muscle memory. And you may already know this but Enhanced Power is the only talent in that row that effects ranged damage (except the extra damage taken effect of Bulwark)
I thought that was a given? it's same with full head of steam, crank 5th crank and you keep 5 stack. Not just Experimental Steam Capacitor thing. The only one you can't as such do it with is superior gaskets, because there's no cooldown on stacks themselves, but they do reset minute you open fire with gun, so you have to crank 4 times, can't recrank 4th crank (I mean you can but there's no benefit, remains regardless, till you shoot).
All of the last tier talents affect damage, either adding 50% more ammunition for 50% more damage, the gromril shot which increaseS both damage and armor piercing, and the middle one with normal damage but higher DPS because your gun is always firing on FULLEST AUTO
Nice guide, only thing I'd add is that scavenged shot is amazing with the handgun because it allows you to fire twice before reloading, which is EXTREMELY useful during crazy moments where the game tries it's best to drown you in disablers
If you're really going for maximum crowd control, go for that additional enemy pierced. The talent basically doubles the damage you do on hordes for every bullet and makes funneling enemies even more fun
I found it blasts through hordes well enough, while the extra 'Critical every 4' makes it better if I focus an Elite or Special. But yeah, either works!
@@Zerkovich Personally I only use the extra crit in Chaos Waste runs, because that way you get a reliable synergy with tempest or splendour, which are otherwise pretty sparse.
Love this! Instantly started searching your channel for other class guides only to feel sad that I couldnt find them! By Thorgrim's beard we want more! :D
I only got into Vermintide since the last 2 week, although its been in my steam library FOREVER. Can't believe I never gave it a fair shot since its so much fun. But I'm not finding any recent content on youtube so please do more.
Some critiques: taking crit chance on a ranged weapon while running "leading shots" is pointless. What that description doesn't tell you is that you can ONLY get crits every 4th shot as they no longer occur randomly. I'd change that property on your handgun to something else, perhaps to help you reach some key breakpoints. I find power vs chaos and infantry combined with power vs chaos on the trinket to be quite useful for one-shotting Maulers on the body with the handgun (you're already one-shotting everything else). Or you could take the "enhanced power" talent and exchange the power vs infantry for power vs armored to reduce Chaos Warrior headshots from 3 to 2 and body shots from 4 to 3. Maybe also change the crit chance property on your trinket as well if you're not depending on crits for melee as well (which it looks like you're not based on your melee trait). Secondly if you're going to primarily be using the crank gun most of the time like you said, I'd reconsider "Superior Gaskets" in favor of "Experimental Steam Capacitors". This is mainly because the pressure doesn't go away just because you start shooting. You can charge it up, shoot a burst and it will keep charging. And if you've got it out most of the time anyway, resetting that 5th stack of pressure every 10 seconds or so is pretty simple. Though if you like to charge it once and forget about it, that's understandable. Engineer can be quite busy even during downtime.
@@benmoore3816 superior gaskets is four max, never run out and bonus attack speed. Experimental steam pistols is the one which allows you to fire or reach max pressure without losing stack
@@kriegscommissarmccraw4205 Well those are talents not traits. And I didn't mix them up either. I said "in favor of" (Experimental Steam Capacitors), meaning he should take that one instead, and I described the talent correctly.
Came across this video only just now, and it's heartening to see how your playstyle back then is quite similar to my own after a few tries! Though there are a few pointers I would like to mention regarding the lv10 Talents, even if this is going to be an outdated post by now 😀 Scavenged Shot can actually complement this playstyle quite nicely. On top of the bonus attack speed from Superior Gaskets, your dual hammers also gain more Power whilst your resource bar is refilling. More Power means more damage and stronger Staggers, which in turn adds to gaining those temp HP's. If crank-gunning hordes is more your thing, Armor-Piercing Slugs will let you clear mobs with literally half the resource. With every bullet hitting two targets, every shot is usually two kills. Also works nicely when someone is bodyblocking your Handgun's line of sight to a Special or Elite. The Elf dashes in front of you right as you are about to shoot a Gutter-Runner? No worries, it still died!
Wow, I didn't know you were also playing Vermintide II, Zerkovich! You helped me so much with all your tactical advice for Total War Warhammer, before... and now with this game too! The outcast engineer is really the class I prefer and I discovered a couple of weeks ago the experimental steam capacitors and my, you just have to load the four stacks then, well... You can keep that out of your mind! That is less mental charge when you are playing! I like the engineer's wrench (with the AP charged attack) and the engineer's gun : I confirm what you said in your video : you finish to get used to the delay when you fire with it. I often save my teammates when we cross a leech or any special unit. But in front of Chaos Warriors, I'm often useless 😕Well, thank your for this guide, I will try a build with more stamina and damage reduction, it opens new perspectives for me! Thanks to you and all the dawi!
I generally use linked compression chamber and experimental steam capacitors so I can just pop it out while I'm being chased and start firing immediately. It really does add onto your survivability if you're in a tight spot. Yeah, the build he has is very good for absolutely deleting a horde, but most of the randoms I end up playing with never give me a chance to actually do any of that damage, so I gotta be light on my toes as engi. Having the shotgun is also really nice in a tight spot because there is no delay between switching to it and firing, unless you gotta reload, and the shotgun also has unlimited bash in case you run out of stamina. The temp. health with stagger and the shotgun bash can also just provide you with temp. health really, really fast, which is super nice when you're low. Just watch out for those armoured rats and big chaos blackheads.
Crit chance on the Handgun doesn't work with the Leading Shots talent. You're probably better off with Crit Power or Power vs. Infantry or Chaos. Or you could just go with the Armour Piercing Slugs Talent. Enhanced Power Talent is also pretty good on the Outcast Engineer as it also boosts your ranged ( i.e. Crankgun) damage, not a lot, but still significant enough to take it if you focus on mostly using the Crankgun.
I thought that. But I tried shooting the dummy constantly with the Handgun, and every fourth attack was stronger. As for Enhanced power, I didn't want to slim down melee skills too much. As I do enjoy the hammer time moments :D Plus the gun seems strong enough! D: Some good points though! Probably better if you want to go full turret.
@@Zerkovich What I think Lars meant is that the Leading Shots crits turn off all random crits, so you can't use crit chance on the gun to any effect if you're using that talent. There's stuff for Saltzpyre that works the same way on Bounty Hunter, last I checked. You can get consistent crits with Leading Shots, but shouldn't waste a property on Crit Chance if that's your build. Go for any number of the power increasing Properties instead. Your experiment that the fourth shot was always stronger only confirms this. If random crits were also working at the same time, you would see some shots just as strong as every fourth shot, but interspersed into the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shots at random.
Grudge-Raker Gun + Ammo on Headshot + Armour Piercing Slugs Trait You gain 2+ ammo per 1 shot. The spread almost guarantees a headshot with at least one of the slugs. I save the Crank for elites and build up attack speed from it's pressure, which chains back into the Raker gun for even more shots per second. The reload is worth the amount of enemies that fall. For main I increase push strength by 50% to end swarmed heavy attacking enemies and have time to clear out the horde.
I want that as a unit in Total War Warhammer II, they would finally break the Skaven and their superiority with the Ratling Gun! Even if it´s not a squad of Engineers but only on a hero units, it would be PHENOMENAL! And since Dawi are always at least solid in melee, the unit would be much less vulnerable to being charged or flanked as well. For your question about the video, i found it great and i´m looking forward to your other VT2 builds, if you´re planning on doing those. Will you also feature other Warhammer games like Mordheim and it´s 40k counterpart? Since you said you will do Darktide...
I understand how your build working, but I'm not sure about Crank gun perk, because if you choose experimental steam capacitors, you can improve your shooting time, because if your stack your charging on 5 tier and after 7-9 seconds of shooting recharge them, in this time when you recharging you can win over 5 seconds additional shooting, what give you a chance to eliminate huge swarm of enemies all-in-one.
I haven't gotten to legend/cataclysm runs, what about drakefire pistols? pretty much infinite ammo, crank 5 stacks on gat, shoot it, crank once more for 5 stack, switch to pistols, shoot until close to overheat, get back to gat, crank for 5th stack, rinse and repeat, so far on veteran/champion works pretty well, i often do most damage in the group. And it's a constant ranged playstyle, sometimes i switch to shield+weapon if there's some downtime on both weapons or i get swarmed.
Tbh i think its better(in order to use the potion purple perfectly) to get some pressure in but without leetting the bar fill, 4 charges, then potion, and full nuts till it fades out, that way, u use the talent perfectly (4stacks of AS) Skăl Dwari
Hello! I think the pistol is meant to be used in conjunction with Leading Shots as this makes it especially good to get rid of various types of specials especially when they are getting too close but it is a bit underwhelming compared to handgun, I agree. I've had fun and successes with the pistol though. Engineer is very much a mid/short range gun as the crank gun is a little unstable for long range shooting. Finally paying back those pesky Ratling is a pleasure. GET SOME YOU LIKE IT YOU LIKE IT???!!!
There's a lot with that I agree with.. but also a lot I don't agree with.. choke pointing/funnelling very useful tool for killing troops and yes waiting those few seconds for crowd to move closer is very good.. so you can have more enemies to shoot at in one time.. rather than spinning up potentially missing a few etc.. it's more streamlined.. I recall it like putting glue in glue gun.. like acrylic glue.. you want to wait first until acrylic has been fully put into chamber.. otherwise it will half melt glue and half not.. you want one continuous stream over several chunks of crowd.. sometimes if you see down a dungeon it's about letting those few extra enemies run into the dungeons soo so their in line with your crank guns sight.. and there's less waste of bullets then.. because their all in line with crank.. rather than doing one fire and then another fire etc.. less waste in general since their all being targeted simultaneously..
whenever you hit the reload on the crank gun it resets the timer for the stacks with n downside so what i do is go ex capacitors adn jsut pull the gun out every few sec hit it once and do that till the special bar is full
I like this build, but to be honest his level 20 perks are all great in their own way, depending on how much micromanagement you'd like to take. Superior Gaskets is next to none, which isn't a bad thing at all- I haven't tried it much, as I'm just a fan of having a consistent timer in my head with Experimental Steam Capacitors. I also assume that Full Head of Steam is worth it for the people that can deal with intense micromanagement, as it allows ya to be quite the shredder.
Gaskets is good, but tbh if you have dual hammers I would actually go with head full of steam or experimental capacitors as your not gaining much in attack speed.. I mean not having that 10% attack speed isn't going to be end of the game if your using an already fast weapon like dual hammers and can already take out most of enemies anyway.. the time you want gaskets is when you have a slow weapon or slowish weapon and doesn't have quite enough speed or crit chance etc to combo swift slaying... Or to sustain that loop of constantly having a swift slaying readily available... Higher speed less chance of being hit, while offensively dealing lots of damage to enemy..
If you're using dual hammers, temp health of cleave will give you much more much quicker than temp health on stagger. Temp health on stagger should really only be taken with a shield Healing per enemy hit with stagger when you shove is just 0.6 hp per enemy, compared to 1 hp per enemy hit with cleave. There are a few high stagger attacks that will give you much more hp per enemy hit than cleave does, but afaik dual hammers don't have any attacks which do that. Furthermore, dual hammers are the second fastest Bardin weapon after dual axes and synergize INCREDIBLY well with temp hp on cleave You really shouldn't be using temp hp on stagger unless you're running a shield, at which point the only attack that greatly benefits is you first heavy attack, the shield bash
I've been playing some Engineer to try and get a feel for him, but he just hasn't 'clicked' for me. I just find him too vulnerable while he's using the crank gun, which is very slow and clunky, and creates a lot of opportunities for enemies to hit you while you're spinning it up or charging it. However, the masterwork pistol in the hands of the Ranger Veteran is absolutely disgusting. You can delete groups of storm vermin and plague monks in the blink of an eye using the secondary fire, and even take out small groups of Chaos Warriors using the damage boost from your smoke bomb ability. It also chews through lightly armored monsters and bosses.
For cog hammer better will be morgrim's enthusiasm or engineer's resolve? I quite new and don't know what to pick here Edit: No idea what to take on lvl 15 either :P
You should really try out Armor Piercing Slugs. In hordes it literally doubles your dps. Plus, on handguns, if you have two Stormvermin or whatever running at you at you in a straight line - bam, both dead in one shot!
Yeah Armour Piercing Slugs is Fantastic/Insanely OP.. your Overall Damage goes up by Double.. when you combine That with High Crit Chance, Base Hero 5% Crit-Chance, Trinket 5%, Huntsman 5%, WHC 5% (Wild Fervour) and Animosity.. 25%. So 20 plus 25% on occasion max.. that's a lot of crits on crank-gun.. it's not quite as many crits as leading shots but the difference is small.. on average you'll be criting 1/5 shots over 1/4 shots.. however combine this with attack speed.. your crit chance rate goes up for ULT/Crank Gun.. you get full acceleration, 5% attack speed on Necklace, 10% attack speed from Merc, 20% Swift-Slaying, that's whopping 35% attack speed max potential.. though in practise I understand applying these in game often requires practise..
Not gunna lie you can run this without any gear or talents and still ends up being one of the best crowd control classes in the game yknow cause he had a fucking minigun
Not as much a fan of handgun the reload is too slow.. it just feels bit slouchy in that regard.. the 1 bullet is great when it connects.. but reload time is lack lustre.. Having said that you do get zoom in feature which is great for tagging elites/specials from a longer distance..
its funny for me cause i use my ranged weapon and crank gun in the opposite manners to you as drakefire pistols alt attack with piercing shots demolish hordes.
I've actually been a huge fan of the Drake Gun for Bardin, as it basically turns you into a horde butcher. If I'm stuck waiting for the Crank Gun to finish reloading, I can just whip the Drake Gun out and burn down hordes instead. Most of the time, other people are building to take care of bosses and elites anyways. May as well as be the one to destroy the swarms.
www.reddit.com/r/Vermintide/comments/k9l1gq/engineer_build/? The build I use. It's effective and fun if you want something else a little different than what most seem to do. It's neat to see someone else rocking dual hammers and not a masterwork pistol on engi. Cog hammer and the pistol are overrated if you ask me.
Edit: I'm surprised you don't keep player outlines on by default * Still think removing the wind up (Experimental Steam Capacitors) is better than increased ammo. Once you reach 5 stacks you only need to reload once to refresh it. Combined with the fact it never goes away while firing, and you keep it at 5 stacks the whole match while almost constantly firing. Edit: and I have to nitpick, you are not "always building pressure" with your build. Soon as you stop firing you have to begin reloading again to build the pressure up. You're turns the ult into a usual cooldown like other classes. * Ablative Armor in use all the time? Only if you get hit....Being able to stagger a Chaos Knight or Monster can be pretty damn vital. * How dare you call Linked Compression Chamber useless!!!! lol Again, when you're using this as a main weapon it's vital. More dps at the start, meaning quicker reaction times to more dangerous scenarios. Combined with Experimental Steam Capacitors you never run out of charge if you keep your stacks refreshed
Sorry bro but you have soo much too enhance your build first swift slaying 1000% better and than when you play book runs you need curse res. on the trinket and the level 10 talent leading shots is very very missleading because you get every 4. shot is a crit but you never ever crit than with the other and armour priercing slug is the go too it doubles the power of your ulti + your range weapon, and enhance power is better on him thrust me(as long as you not play him as a tank or front liner), and the rest of the talent is fine. And i a tipp from me try more the Masterwork Pistol because it is better than the handgun in 90% of cases i know personal i had the same problem that you had with the delay and i hate it till today but as long as you get used to it, it is sooo much better!!!

This fuckin dwarf goes between regular dwarf, slayer and now engineer XD
whenever you hit the reload on the crank gun it resets the timer for the stacks with n downside so what i do is go ex capacitors adn jsut pull the gun out every few sec hit it once and do that till the special bar is full
Great video. How come you can use the Crank gun without showing the Ability Bar?
I use Trollhammer torpedo instead handgun but yeah the others is the same! :)
Heavy Weapons Dawi!
Yeah my build is pretty similar, I just use the coghammer, since it can oneshot stormvermin
More v2 sounds good 👍
FOR THE VERMINTIDE!! - For the Vermintide?
KILL THE VERMINTIDE!! - Kill? - MOW DOWN!!
Trollhammer? It is the most powerful weapon we can get and it is even better on engineer
Interesting ,this new class . what do you thing Kerillian will get ? Only a dream ,but i hope for Spellsinger!
So, how are you feeling with what she got?
@@kubaGR8 not bad,but i hoped i get to buff or heal my team more.
Between the crankgun and the irondrake, which one do you think is best for Crowd control ? As they're meant for the same job, It made me wondering
Temp health on stagger should really only be taken with a shield
Healing per enemy hit with stagger when you shove is just 0.6 hp per enemy, compared to 1 hp per enemy hit with cleave. There are a few high stagger attacks that will give you much more hp per enemy hit than cleave does, but afaik dual hammers don't have any attacks which do that. Furthermore, dual hammers are the second fastest Bardin weapon after dual axes and synergize INCREDIBLY well with temp hp on cleave
You really shouldn't be using temp hp on stagger unless you're running a shield, at which point the only attack that greatly benefits is you first heavy attack, the shield bash
Hmmm. I'll try it out!
I don´t care much for Vermintide, but a dwarf-video is a dwarf-video!
It also chews through lightly armored monsters and bosses.
did they remove dual hammers?
For cog hammer better will be morgrim's enthusiasm or engineer's resolve? I quite new and don't know what to pick here
Edit: No idea what to take on lvl 15 either :P
Your computer graphics and performance look absolutely incredibly. What are your PC specs?
Anyone know what the cross status effect in the bottom left corner is? I still can’t figure it out.
Damn, I have missunderstood completley how the Engineer is working
I use the axe & shield & flame thrower.
What is alt mode? You mentioned alt mode of handgun.. I've never seen this personally during use of handgun on vermintide 2.
He was talking about the alt fire of the masterwork pistol, turns the gun into a fan-the-hammer situation
@@alexdunn4451 ah cool
How do u do 10k hits when i do like 300 on lvl 35?
Cheers
I don't have this class how do I get it?
Not gunna lie you can run this without any gear or talents and still ends up being one of the best crowd control classes in the game yknow cause he had a fucking minigun
I'd like to see a Grail Knight build next!
Not as much a fan of handgun the reload is too slow.. it just feels bit slouchy in that regard.. the 1 bullet is great when it connects.. but reload time is lack lustre.. Having said that you do get zoom in feature which is great for tagging elites/specials from a longer distance..
If u put increase in power u will get more ranged powee
2:13 WHAT ON EARTH!?
11K? HOW ON EARTH DID YOU REACH THAT KIND OF DAMAGE?
its funny for me cause i use my ranged weapon and crank gun in the opposite manners to you as drakefire pistols alt attack with piercing shots demolish hordes.
May as well as be the one to destroy the swarms.
i cant use dual axe :( ....
Tw2 need this gatling gun lol
It costs a hundred thousand Gorl to fire this weapon for 12 seconds
www.reddit.com/r/Vermintide/comments/k9l1gq/engineer_build/?
The build I use. It's effective and fun if you want something else a little different than what most seem to do. It's neat to see someone else rocking dual hammers and not a masterwork pistol on engi. Cog hammer and the pistol are overrated if you ask me.
Edit: I'm surprised you don't keep player outlines on by default
* Still think removing the wind up (Experimental Steam Capacitors) is better than increased ammo.
Moar Vermintide plz.
"crowd control outcast engineer"
No gear hammer
I all ways use the pick ax so versatile
btu it has soooooo much recoil
Maybe low damage class?
Tacos burritos or quesadillas
Against the test dummies why are you showing thousands of damage, while mine is only showing at most a couple hundred?
I played Vermintide 2 for 16 hours finished it and found it repetive and limited maps and wepons and upgrade system real pants . I played lot better hackslash then this game. But the graphics are amazing and its warhammer . i real hope dark tide better
