Wow, I had forgotten all about engravings. It was a big deal in the 80's, but usually on metals. What a great idea!! Hmmmm, Berkley is about an hour and a half from me.

When engraving on glass, do you not need to worry about small pieces of glass getting into your eyes? Awesome work by the way!

Hi all. Few points need to be made here.
With exoerience of several decades in this work on glass, crystal, metal etc:
. users of this handpiece need -- absolutely-- calligraphic skills if good letters are to be created (regardless of any type of tools)
. this is a high revolution machine needs much experience to handle it, extensive practice in mastering its' power is a must, regardless of rpm at 10k or 35 speed. Afterall, it will want to slip off surface when tryibg to cut any surface.
. keep left hand away from direction of rotation of handpiece, as you could acquire a nasty deep cut, should it slip away.
. cost of machine at 300-400usd, it may become a relic (if you do not become competent in using it).
. do not expect it to become a workhorse as after recharging, it has few hours power only.
For the more serious users who need to use it longer, micromotors are better as they can be used many hours without over eating.
NSK, Kavo, Faro, Foredom etc are some examples. Ask any jeweller for confirmation on micromotors.
    gd luck.

Is it a good idea to write the word out with a pencil before you engrave ?

Hey Payal, Carla shows that she does that with a Stabilo ALL pencil :)

She mentions that the engraving tool she's using is for woodworking. It's not. It's a nail drill. Both the Luraco and the Mystisa that she uses were specifically made for the nail industry where they've been used for a number of years.

@The Happy Ever Crafter No, I think Carla has too much echo in her studio, and tends to speak low. Some folks may have problems hearing her, especially if they have some hearing impairment.
Loved this video, and Carla’s laugh is absolutely contagious. It’s great seeing people who really have a passion for their work and being able to share their talents. Thanks so much for your videos!
