- Ducati's Monster has been a mainstay of the range for many years and rightly so. The latest version comes in 1200 and now 821cc engine capacities. Naturally, it is the 1200 that will get all the attention but could its smaller brother actually be the better bike? Harry takes a closer look.
I appreciate the fact that this video is 8:21.
i have the 1200s love it great bike had no issues either .
I order it yesterday, man, I love the 821 ! ^^
Congrats :)
Great show and great reviews guys. Have the SF for about 9 months now and did 14000 kms so far. Only problem I had was one of the battery connectors that sheared. Other than that, the usual oil and filter changes and that's it. Never missed a beat. Still have to keep away from bike shops though, since they think you swim in money 'cause you drive a duc (never mind that they cost the same as all the other euro bikes). Enjoy your long termer and stay safe.
Haaaah, that transition to the second journalist "Hmmmm" that was great.
Lol I dono if it's on purpose that the video is also 8.21 minutes. Awesome stuff !
In San Francisco, 848 is the same price as 1200! So, I got the 1200.
You guys are making great videos. Why aren't they uploaded in HD?
Monster is iconic bike for Ducati, and it’s better looking if you want bike for track go for panigale
As I've said before. Ducati's service prices scare the crap out of me
2021 the Streetfighter V2 is happening!
OH! THE STREETFIGHTER 848!!
I've got one of those, so damn awesome!! :D
Though crashed for the moment :(
My next bike is gonna be the 821 but the SF is way better looking but not for the shorter riders. Seat is way to high, I think they would have an amazing machine if they could make a bike that had the comfort, seat hight and engine as the monster with the looks of the street fighter. I would be throwing my money at them if they did.

Hello, I test bikes in Brazil and just had a Multistrada for a month. After nearly 24.000 KM it was really falling apart, wouldn't want it like that. It needed new wheels, chain, suspension was clunking, rear brake was low and a bit of the rear mudguard simply fell off.
Anybody notice the security camera number is also 821!
The Streetfighter is damn uncomfortable :/
The Monsters fit me damn well, and is likely a better day-to-day ride.
I definitely want to take the Monster for a test ride. The 821 Hyperstrada was AWESOME, but my legs are just too short to make it comfortable. My thighs hit the seat in such a way that I can't grip the tank with my knees :(
That thing is a monster...
So, Monster 821 or Monster 1200?
Are they just in red color ?
Just have to say that is one of the shittiest area's you are driving around in that I have ever seen. And I am from NYC so I have seen alot of shitty area's around here, but that is just bad.
Très belle bécane!
supermoto is ultimate urban tool...
I thought the latest model now comes with single side swing arm?
And, Yes, I mean the 821.
IF the Monster and Streetfighter were sold at the same price where I am at, I think no one will buy the Monster. For some reason, the Monster has that feminine look and feel, more suitable for ladies.
Oh well.
The 1200 comes with a single-sided swingarm but the 821 has double-sided, probably for reasons of cost. It doesn't suffer for it, though, either in terms of looks or handling.
Are you kidding me!? The Monster is one of the most masculine bikes ever built, brother. Such a masculine tank and overall look, the last thing I think about is a ladies bike, when I look at the Monster.
the 821 vs 848.. the 821 has newer tech.. and has 18,000 miles between its major servicing... the older bikes are 6,000 miles.. Thats reason enough to get the newer bikes...i was on the fence between the 796 and the 821 monster... the 18,000 mile servicing sold the FUCK out of me.. considering the major servicing cost between $1000- $1200 fucking dollars. Get the 821 and save fucking money yo!
Monster wins it for me. The other one does look like leftovers from a garage fire

Frank Zappa????
the 821 doesn't have ohlins dude
bob g actually smart guy the 821 stripe does have ohlins so you 2 are the dumbasses
Frankenstein Gaming were we talking about the stripe? No.
bob g it's still the 821
Frankenstein Gaming Pretty sure the stripe wasn't even out when we were commenting on this last.
Is it a big difference on Öhlins or the regular one?
Well, Consumer Reports Motorcycle Reliability Survey goes beyond opinion and puts Ducati, along with BMW as some of the most unreliable motorcycles.
We have reached a point in motorcycle engineering where "unreliable" doesn't mean shit, back in the day unreliable meant that your bike would break all the time and you would spend hours trying to fix it, these days it just means that you need to check your Ducati/BMW/Triumph every 8000 miles while the Japanese bikes only need to be checked every 9000-10000 miles. Wow. Such a huge difference in reliability!
+Edward Armstrong I dont know who told you that or why you believed it, Im guessing your lack of experience... But this bikes can break down, leave you stranded, and need repairs, which sometimes can be very costly and time consuming. In some cases making owning a product a real nightmare.
yeah but what do they consider reliability ? Being taken to the shop for a small issue like loose mirror that panigale have problems with ? Or a engine failure etc
