The dry down is gorgeous. Smells like a niche Tobacco based Fragrance. It gives of an air of authority and wealth that you get with some Fragrances like Aventus or Terre Hermes. The Dreamer is in that exact same category. Young high school girls may not care for it but older classier women will love it.

Your fragrance reviews are so unique, your tone of voice with the slight music in the background with the dancing hands its like a sorcerer reeling us in to his magical hut to a supernatural journey of alchemy of perfume 🙂
You described is so well
The dry down is great. I spray just 3 spots and it's good for the work shift. It is simplicitic though. It's something I wear when I know something is happening at work and I want to be serious. It smells like paper work and dinner meetings. Like trustworthy but wears alot of jewelry. Like a manager that had an affair with a coworker and is currently trying to make it up to his wife without her knowing about it. lol

I LOOOOOVE this fragrance. Reminds me of a long-lost friend from the 90s. Truly like a nostalgic dream of times long past. Makes me emotional for reasons I cannot explain.

I'm so glad you got to review The Dreamer, ATH! t's one of my favorite fragrances, and I love spraying some on right before I go to bed. The lavender becomes more dominant the longer it dries down.

i blind bought the dreamer and i absolutely love it. i started decanting and my 10ml bottles of the dreamer sold out first... so people around me love it too. wonderful fragrance.
blind bought as well and just received it five minutes ago while I write this. Did you find the initial spray to smell very "in your face" air freshener? yet you wait 5-10 minutes and its a COMPLETELY different scent but very lovely....

Albeit synthetic a bit, I think it' s one of the most unique designer fragrances. After confusing start it becomes classy and sexy to my nose...and for price point really fantastic. Great review, as always ;)

I wear this with patchouli oil, it's a lovely combo. Also they say this is the last scent that Giani Versace had any say in developing.
Just got a bottle of it yesterday as a blind buy, was looking for something new. I really like it! It's subtle and lasts long on your skin 👍
I have to say thankyou for giving me the idea of adding sandalwood to this fragrance because it really does add something special. I have a very linier soft spice and sandalwood fragrance that I rarely use, but using it under my shirt as a body mist and lightly around my clavicle before applying The Dreamer as the main fragrance on top just gives the overall scent an amazing balance and body that smells much more luxurious than the combined cost of the 2 fragrances. I'm always trying combinations of fragrances this way, many have failed or just cancel each other out, but adding sandalwood to the Dreamer is simply amazing, thank you for such a great idea.🤗
Great review! I bought a bottle of The Dreamer today and it smells great! It will be one of my signature scents (along with Eros le parfume, Acqua di Gio profondo, Bleu de Chanel EDP and Cedrat Boise).

I started wearing "Dreamer" in 2003 ( 17 years ago ) and it was very strong. Could still smell on myself after 16 hours. Now after reformulation it doesn't last 2 hours on me. So disappointed because this was my signature fragrance. I loved everything about it.
In my opinion this is a long lasting "skin scent" fragrance.
On me it projects for 2 hours and then becomes very soft, so it's more for a closer space like Netflix and chill with your girl you know.
There’s two different versions the 1996 and 2013 release they have both on Amazon
it's one of my favourites :) very comforting, cozy, and perfect for daydreaming :)

I still wear this cologne because you are buying 4 colognes into one... it has a little bit of a mixture (layering jpg le male, Dolce & gabana pour homme and cigars cologne and sometimes boss bottled by hugo boss) There you go.... you'll have The dreamer by versace... I simply love this cologne. Can't live without it.... Down here in Brazil (midwest - goiania) when I wear it I just get compliments and people say "goddamn it" what magical cologne is that? I know it is a little bit different from the 96 batch. But still there! love it too much.

I'm not a fan of Versace at all, but Dreamer made me fall in love with tobacco flower, which I didn't even know they used in fragrances before.
They wouldn't use real tobacco flowers here, Have real tobacco flowers extract and its so expensive. This is a lovely aromachemical assimilation. Amazing for the price. Hope your well and coping in this period Tony.
@@AaronTerenceHughes I'm doing OK. Thank you! Well, it's obviously not real tobacco flower, but it's nice. I'm getting a similar vibe from the neroli vetiver blends. It smells like a variation of the woody floral accords.

Been wearing this since the 90’s. Gotten more compliments with the Dreamer than anything else. In fact, one of my girlfriends asked me the other day, “Why don’t you wear that cologne that smells like sweet milk anymore?”
She was talking about the Dreamer.
This has singlehandedly put me off buying it , who wants to smell like sweet milk

Maybe the description is putting you off. She was probably referring to it smelling floral and creamy. Not so much like milk. Lol
Excellent review Aaron as usual this is such a polarising fragrance people either love t or or hate it due to the heavy synthetic blast on the opening..but on my skin after around ten minutes the iris note comes out supported by a heavy herbal aroma..and alsothis lasts for hours on my skin probably down to the synthetics used in the fragrance..great review mate and hope your doing well my friend and keep up the great work..

Every time I UA-cam a fragrance to find out more about it, you’ve literally made a recent review about it. Something psychic going on there.
The "tonkabacco" (coumarin + tobacco note) actually stays around pretty much 6+ hours with the musk, but it's not a screamer (just a dreamer) like you noted.

Contrary to what has been said, it does last quite a bit 6-8 hours before turning into skin scent. Lovely review!
I disagree with you, the longevity on skin is maybe like 6h yeah but the skin scent vibe comes 2h hours after the sprays...
It might be the case of skin chemistry/formulation/amount of sprays as I am a heavy user...

My friend has the original vintage of The Dreamer. Smells completely different - this one has not the best performance, but at that price one can spray a bit more than usual!
Only cologne I consider “my scent”
Tobacco elements are my favorites. Only cologne I’ve worn that made people ask what’s the fragrance. Then they were wearing it a few weeks later

I just bought it after a quick sniff in the perfume shop. Wow, I was blown away by it. It’s totally “going out on a Saturday night with the boys” type of scent. This is what you wear when you go on the prowl for some talent. It’s cheap as chips as well... I paid £24.99 for it as well. A great bargain, but not long lasting, in terms of projection. You can’t go wrong at the price though.
I didn’t wanna buy this because I would always see it in discount stores for suuuper cheap, but now I will buy it next time I see it. 🔥🔥🔥
Just received today 100 ml. bottle. I don't like the start frankly. But the drydown is really nice. I smell something familiar but I can't tell what exactly. It is something between Cartier Declaration and Salvatore Ferragamo F black to me. It kind of mixture of honey and tobacco. Very nice.

What was the main differences with the yellow juice version? The notes listed on Fragrantica between the 1996 version and 2010 version are completely different. (Aside from a close Tobacco/Tobacco Blossom)

Well he doesn t really review it well which i m surprised. He simply judges it off the top note only and doesn t get into the performance of it. Also has a taste in which mostly strong and overpowering fragrances beat more simplistic and crowd pleasing fragrances which isn t a problem but still, you might have a different taste, you trust aaron, you buy it and just don t like it. With all of this said you can get passed this opinion but not including it s performance and also judge it off the top note it s a big problem
@@makerl1fe388 Your welcome to go to another reviewer. There are hundreds. I do things my way. As a perfumer I can tell how the fragrance will preform. Why? Well I use these raw materials every day. All I need it about 5-10 seconds to make up my thought process. I can smell past the top notes right down the supporting back bone to the musks that are use. It’s a bit overpowering in the opening but after about 30 minutes it’s a delight.
Has a warm, relaxing appeal and it’s definitely not like anything in my collection.
Wow this takes me back. Bought it by chance when it first came out and became my signature scent through the 90’s. It may not be as relevant nowadays as Le Male from that era which seems to have stood the test of time (despite it now being a shadow of its former self after the reformulations). At the time it was a rather unique designer scent - probably still is - but I understand the people that may consider it dated. Still a worthy inoffensive scent for the 30+ crowd. Keep the reviews coming!
Please test ysl y edp. Everyone is praising it and I don't get the hype at all. For my taste it isn't fresh, it's rather in your face, way too strong and headache inducing.
Smells like plain white floral anti perspirant and green candy apple. Pretty crap. You're not the only one.
@@RichardOliver damn, im glad that someone else feels like it. Because I was like: what am I missing out on this fragrance? I gave it so many chances, on warm days, cold days, lots of sprays, few sprays. Nothing clicked, it was just annoying. After all im gonna give my bottle away.
Leonard Martin same here! I wear tested YSL Y vs YSL LH (each arm) and after an hour I *loved* LH but couldn’t stand the Y. Synth headache fruit.
For me it is not headache inducing, but I do agree that it is not fresh. People say it can be a spring/summer fragrance, but I don't see it with how sweet it smells to me. I'd wear it as a fall scent primarily. I like it, but I'd rather pick something like Versace Eros over it.

Thai is a gorgeous scent. I'm glad I have a backup
I picked up a sage note, with the tobacco it reminds me of the faraway scent of burning leaves, like the dry air in Delhi on an evening, away from the traffic. I really like it as an occasional wear on a night to sleep. It's currently £18 for 100ml, at that price, it's a steal, for me at least. I'm really into more complex and heavier fragrances, but somehow this still has its charms for me.
I bought it early 90s still got the of bottle last all day on me love that fragrance till this day 😃😃

Its used to stop a dry amber fragrance becoming too dry and empty. Its a lovely note

Small correction, that's not French perfumery, that's Italian perfumery!
I primarily wear this fragrance at night time after a hot shower and a bong rip. I spray this on pretty well but not too heavy and it's very relaxing to fall asleep smelling. I think the dreamer is a perfect name because of how simple it is, it doesn't perk my senses up like some others (farenheight by Dior). But I really enjoyed hearing your opinion and you have such a nice way of describing things it's very nice anyways thanks for the review and I hope to try your fragrances soon !

Thanks for such a thorough review. To me this thing has a melancholic scent that is not uplifting at all. Broken Dreams would be a more appropriate name.
I got this off Groupon, I hated that major compound smell that's in the background, something weird about it, wouldn't repurchase.

I actually use this only before I get into bed I find it interesting how it feels like I tend to have a better night sleep with it on then not, give it a try sometime you might find it in the same regard.
