The manga "Claymore " was truly awesome. The anime didn't cover le whole story and the ending wasn't the best. They should remake it.

As incomplete/wrong as it was it is one of my favorite animes. It lacks so many of the tropes that annoy me or make me uncomfortable in anime. I'd argue it's one of the best starter series for people just getting into anime.

this isnt fantasy, but id recommend the manga "nana". its about a country girl that meets a rocker girl when she moves to the city. i loved it. i couldnt watch the anime though. its fine if people like it, but i just had a different vibe for their voices and the music. i would love to see if you know of any books that might be similar to that.

ETA: If you like Darling in the Franxx, try Iron Widow by Xiran Jay Zhao, and vice versa.
Original: The Promised Neverland's anime doesn't tell a complete story, period. 😭 I've never read the manga, but you basically have to if you want closure. If I'd known that when S2 started, I would've just saved time and skipped it. They did TPN dirty. 😔

Talking about suggestion: If you loved Berserk, try to read Elric of Melnibonè, different protagonist but storyes very strongs and opposite parallelism;)) Thank you Miss Elliott;)

Elliot. I’ve never heard you mention reading light novels before even though this might be a natural transition from or to manga and anime. My favorite for world building is Ascendance of a bookworm. That one has a 3 mediums but started as a web novel. I watched the anime and now
am 12 volumes in deep in the light novel. For some reason Amazon has this listed as children fantasy, but I don’t agree. I assume because it’s kind of a coming of age story about a young woman reincarnated into a little girl but she goes on to bring modern concepts to a midieval setting. I think you’d like it

I was so disappointed by the second season of The Promised Neverland :( Totally agree that the first season is perfect! The whole manga is great too.

If you like the anime trope of kids/teens getting transported to another world where they have a puzzle or problem to solve, you should read ‘Lonely Castle in the Mirror.’ It’s translated from Japanese and I felt like it should be an anime the whole time I was reading it.

In perfect world scenario: a FAITHFUL & detailed "live action" adaptation TV series for Claymore.
For real, Claymore is one of the most easiest series to adapt as live action dark fantasy show, especially for western audiences. It even has all the checks for Netflix quota aka lots of female protags (LOL). I still don't get why so many people missed this out. The amazing fight scenes alone are 90% of powerful female warriors!!
Idk if you're also reading "light novel" works, but I would recommend you to read "86." It really is such great read. Of course it has anime series (in which I how I got introduced) & it's pretty amazing too. You can't go wrong with A-1 Pictures after all.

Yes, do more of this type of videos for anime and manga please. I started in anime and manga community for years but since 2019/2020 I totally lost touch with it, and you just reminded me that Claymore is one of the manga I would like to read. I need to catch up to Vinland and finish The Promise Neverland too. I'm currently trying to finish Tokyo Ghoul at the moment.
By the way, when you have the time, check out Golden Kamuy. I think you might like it.

    Great taste in manga/anime! XD
Claymore was awesome! I know that AoT has a similar twist, but considerind that Claymore was published first, it is a shame how it's not as popular.
TPN was okay for me, I watched the anime and usually if i really like it, I'd continue reading the manga, but it was not that great. The first episode did blow my mind tho.
interesting books recs! added to my tbr

This was great :) I’ve done a couple of these videos and included Vinland Saga on one of them. I recommended Cornwell’s Arthurian trilogy (The Warlord Chronicles). It’s a different period of time, but similar atmosphere/themes to Vinland Saga. I’m sure Allen has plugged it before, so I’ll add to his endorsement. It’s fantastic!

I would also say the poppy war trilogy would be an awesome anime, and Steel Crow Saga too would be so cool (it’s literally described as Pokémon and Avatar hybrid)

If you want a revenge story, I have never read a better one than "The Count of Monte Cristo". It takes a few chapters to pick up in pace, but once it does it just goes hard. I was not expecting it to be such a page turner with so many chapters ending on cliff hangers... it's so good. Not fantasy, sure, but it's amazing!

Someone already mentioned it but Nana is such a great anime, it's different than the typical romance. There's no fantasy and sadly it's been on hiatus since 2009, but the anime a kinda ending
