My daughter got me into press-ons then I went down the rabbit hole where I’m exploring making my own. I totally agree with you on gel-x or acrylics. I worry about constant exposure to UV. Making my own press-ons where only the nail tips are exposed and not your hands seems so much safer. I’m currently making press-ons with just regular nail polish as I have quite a collection. Loved your little talk and you convinced me to not go down that road. Many thanks!
More and more people seem to be coming forward with gel allergies and I am one of them too. After a SEVERE allergic reaction, I was left with mere stubs for nails (a few peeled back 3/4 of my nail plates). Since nails are an important part of my self confidence(crazy, I know), I decided to try press-ons doing exactly what you are doing. No more allergies and none to the glue (so far). I also use sticky tabs along with the glue. It's so important that we research any products that we use on/in our bodies. Thanks for speaking about this and bringing awareness ... great video.
I was using builder gel and gel polish for a year and a half with no problems, then all of a sudden i had a terrible reaction, my nails separated from fingers and the skin around my nails was peeling, red and itchy. Removed the product asap. It took about 8 months for my nails to grow back in attached. I gave Hema free builder gel and polish a try and am happy that it has given me no problems after 10 months.
This is what happened to me! I won't even use the gel polishes. I use Hema-free builder, and regular polish. I know it doesn't look as sleek as gel polish, but it sure looks better than "allergy fingers" and I just don't want to take the chance.
I’m becoming a press on convert. I had too many problems with tips lifting and getting greenies. If by some chance a press on pops off, I just will get another press on adhesive and put it back on. Thanks for all the info on press ones.
This video came in at a very interesting time for me. I have recently had decided to solely use press ons only. Partly because of the fear of allergies but more importantly it's because more research has come up about the UV lamps causing skin cancer. I have had skin cancer in the past and I just don't need to have an added risk. You have been my inspiration to look at new and beautiful alternatives and press ons are the way to go. I like the storage containers you have. Thanks! ❤❤❤❤
I've done press on nails off and on since the 90s, but the longest I can go without one popping off is usually 4 days, even with all the tricks to make them last longer. I recently started doing polygel at home and builder gel so I could have nails that last longer, but now I'm getting paranoid about developing gel allergies, so you've got me thinking about doing press ons again. I've always just done plain press ons and painted them myself with regular polish. I may have to start making some like you did in this video. I just hate constantly having to glue them back on!
I think a common misconception is that you don’t have to prep your nails for press ons. You definitely want to prep as if you were doing a full set! I prefer to apply them before bed so they can set overnight without any water exposure 🩷
I have been using all of my gel polishes to make press ons for about two years now due to gel allergies. I love this since I don't have to worry about having a wonky mani on my non dominant hand, and I can have spare sets of nails available to wear at a moments notice. I use nail glue to attach them, and with good prep get 3 weeks of wear out of them. If I know I have an event and want to wear a longer than normal nail, I use tabs and get a few days wear out of them.
I don't know enough about press ons to do them but i would love to give it a try. Do you have a video from beginning to end and can you wash dishes and life things lol without popping them off. Now i just have lots of questions. Love the informative video. Great content as always. 😊
Yes to all! I find it best to apply them at night before bed so you don’t have to touch any water for a while. But the next day, after your adhesive has time to really set, you’ll be good to go! I’ll attach a video for you to check out ua-cam.com/video/N-tLGTKkl8E/v-deo.html
I've never had an allergy due to nail products in 35 years. But I do have an unrelated chronic illness that can make doing my nails or removing dip powder or gel so difficult. So I decided to try press ons. So much easier! Easier to do it all with my dominate hand! They are so much easier to remove even with glue instead of tabs! I haven't found a set of tabs that fit my nails well, yet, but I hope to. Thanks for your insights and for such great content!
Marla! You have done it again!! Now I am shopping for press on nails!!! I like you am concerned about the allergy thing. The problem I have with press on nails are they never fit! I have wide nail beds. Do you have any brands you recommend for that issue?? Thanks
Ok late to the party INTRIGUED but if glue and gel are bad for your nails - what are you using to get the press on to stick? What am I missing here? Thanks Marla love you
Dip powders are still my jam.....but I did have dip flu from the liquids really bad. So I switched to gel liquids and are super careful not to have product touch my skin AT ALL. Thanks for all your advise regarding your research. You channel is forever evolving. 💘
That’s good!! As long as you find something that works for you and you’re super careful, I support you!! 🙌🏻 I do have bunches of dip related content coming - so that won’t ever change 🩷
The pink is so soft and pretty. It is great that you educate your viewers. I had professional mani’s every other week for more than 10 years with gel polish (CND brand); thankfully I never had an issue. Like you I suck at regular nail polish!!
I totally feel u about the gel x nails and gel products. I noticed my nails started to thin out and just deteriorate since I started using gel. I’ve completely stopped using it underneath my press ons although I still use a gel polish but I’m careful not to get it on my skin or I wipe it off right away. My nails just can’t handle the gel. I’m still in to dip powders though. But I gave my polygels away to my sister who doesn’t seem to have a problem.
That was another issue for me.. my nails started looking like crap. But that’s likely due to the fact that I had to fully prep numerous times a week and it made the nails very weak and thin.
I loved the gel nails attached with solid gel. Then my nails were destroyed and I went back to dip. Press ons look interesting but worried about adhesion. Do the type/brand of tabs matter?
I do have gel allergies, and highly allergic to monomer. I am still actively doing my own nails with Akzents and young nails hard gel and I have had no issues . I love doing my nails and my clients for years . My point is even tho your allergic just use precautions and don’t give up if it’s what you love . Good luck!
I bought all the stuff to do press on nails at Christmas for the same reasons. Currently caring for a family member so still not had time to return to doing my nails but this will be what I use too going forward ❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing your info for doing DIY press-ons, Marla! I had been thinking about it for a while... I don't have any gel allergies *yet*, but it's something I worry about. The plusses are overwhelming... never a sub-par result due to a non-dominant hand doing the work, being able to gently remove the press-ons-and reuse them-instead of drilling/soaking off designs that took a lot of time to do, being able to switch out designs quickly and easily, and still using all of my favorite nails and polishes. Snagged your recommended supplies for press-on painting, storage, and glue tabs, now it's on to then next part of my nail journey! 😊
I so agree! I didn't think of press ons before and stopped doing gel out of paranoia. But now I can resume my hobby again with some peace of mind! The ease and quickness of painting on tips vs actual nails appeals to me too. It's game changing! Reusing tips also means less product consumption and saving money in the long run. It's win win win all over!!
I have been dabbling with press ons.. I saw one UA-camr who uses adhesive tabs and then puts a bit of glue on the press on before placing on the nail. Apparently good for longevity but still comes off easily. I might try this.
thanks for the info Marla.. I will be having a very empty nail desk because gel makes my fingers hurt and crack open so after they healed up I tried the dip and bam cracking sore fingers again... I have tried the press on but just can't seem to find ones that feel comfortable... gonna go back to regular polish.. Im not very good at it either but I am getting better if I take my time... so got a lot of gel polish and dips that will be going to waste... :(
I love press ons but struggle with using tabs vs nail glue. I get so much lifting no matter how well I prep when using tabs! When I use nail glue press on Manis last so much longer with no lifting, bit the trade off is difficult removal and no reusability of the press ons 😞 Any advice on getting better adhesion with tabs?
Yes!! So I like to apply them at night before bed so I don’t have to touch water while the adhesive bonds. In the morning, they’re STUCK! But don’t forget to prep your nails just as you normally would. Remove cuticles, light buff and cleanse with acetone! 🩷
None that give “percentages” per say, but the awareness is definitely acknowledged in numerous articles. I have recently been itching so bad on my entire hands and even skin peeling after my last two Manis. As a matter of a fact I just done one yesterday and I'm itching to death!! What should I do??
I’ve been wanting to find an alternative to my gel polish nail routine because of all the gel allergy worries too. I came upon this video while looking at press-ons. Thank you for being so honest, it’s been really scary. This encouraged me that I might not need to fully give up on nails to be safe, but maybe just try something a little less direct. Can the tabs last a while or is glue the only way?
OH HECK!! I just discovered the rubber base polish and completed my first use last week. The stuff is fantastic! I did over-cure it a bit, did not get any on my cuticle area, and have had no reaction. Is the rubber base included in the dangerous category? I just converted from regular nail polish...I hope this isn't a pain to answer. Thanks Marla!
Hi Maria i have a question, I have very small nail plate and all my nails are different shapes too! double whammy lol, i have tried the sticky tabs and they just dont work for me the either stick up or just simply dont fit so what am i to do?? anyway love your vids thanks xxxxx
I have dip flu right now it is the devil but my nails look amazing. I can’t stop though. I was thinking about switching to gel x but now I don’t even know. I just can’t get press one to stay on.
Marla, I watch a nail tech on TikTok who got contact dermatitis from touching cured no wipe top coat when applying cuticle oil on her clients. So even though it’s cured it’s still not safe to touch until cleaned off with alcohol.
Even then it's not safe. If it has excess HEMA, there is always a small percentage that doesn't fully cure. Hema is water soluble and will seep, every time you wash your hands!
Hey Marla . My favorite weirdo. I have gave everything a break including dip powder nails. I love press on nails their so much fun. The designs they have are beautiful. That pink is everything so simple and beautiful.
Hey Marla! Help a sister out here...when you refer to GelX or gel extensions, do the BTArtbox extensions fall under that category? I remember the lovely long pink ones you wore for a while, just wearing them the as they came without even putting any polish or dip on them. I've been using them for a while now and have several colors/shapes. Just not sure if these are what you're trying to avoid now. Thanks!
I developed an allergy at a reputable salon…took a few months but can’t do it anymore….and I have never been allergic to anything…first it was the acrylic (monomer I assume) then it was the fells…even the top coat…so I started dip and love it. I have a question??? When you glue on you pressor nails do you use a glue…could that start an allergy?
Anything that’s touching skin over and over can trigger an allergy, unfortunately. But that why I prefer the tabs! No glue and no acetone needed! You can use glue, just make sure you’re not touching skin 🩷
YES! The adhesive tabs are linked in the description for you 🩷 here’s the video link on application and removal! ua-cam.com/video/RUhWY_xeuNw/v-deo.html
Absolutely but my gel was cured. I just ended up using a cheap Temu gel and that was that. Now I can't even use Madam Glam. I can use dip liquids with no issues so I went back to it.
Pretty pink! The only issue I'm having with press ons is that my thumb and index fingers have flatter nail beds, so the sticky tabs and nail glue don't fill in the gap. I use BTArtbox nails because they fit me the best, but I struggle with how to attach them to my nails so they lay flat. Do you have any recommendations?
Hi Marla, I just need clarification… no products go on your nails ( only the sticky tabs) ? How long can you wear the press ons? I suppose if one pops off, you just use a new sticky tab, correct?
@@garybethperlman4945 absolutely correct! Pop offs are super easy to handle with press ons but I get at least a weeks wear with the tabs! Prep remains the same as usual for the best tab adhesion 🩷
Thank You for sharing! 😊 I do need clarification…are you saying no rubber base, no builder gel, no peel base on your natural nails going forward? I’ve started decorating press ons as an outlet for my need to do nail art and because I rather messed up my natural nails (story for another day and it doesn’t involve gel) and need to get them back to being healthy. I love decorating press ons. Love watching the nail art vids, guessing how they accomplish the various looks and trying the designs. Right now my work is pretty sad compared to the experts, but that is not stopping me from trying! I appreciate your honesty as always! ✌️💕
@@MarlaKris alrighty then. I interpret your response to mean that you will not be applying any gel products including rubber, building and peel base to your natural nails. I get it! Thank You for sharing! 😊
@@MarlaKris ahhh. Really good to know and that makes sense. I have not used peel base, but upon reading your reply and researching a bit further, I see that peel base is not a gel based product. It makes sense to use that and now I have another item to add in my Amazon cart 😊. Thank you for taking the time with replying , I really appreciate it. Have a spectacular day!
The only problem I have with making press on nails for myself is. I have super wide thumbs and once I stick the thumb press on into the curing lamp. They shrink on me. I have a very hard time finding my size as it is, and then to cure them and try to get the thumbs on me once they have cured is a complete no go for me. I literally need a 00 but they are very hard to find. My other fingers are normal sizes.
I started dipping press-ons around Christmas time and haven’t looked back. It’s sooo much faster and I feel like it’s actually helped me be more creative. My cuticles are so much healthier without all the shaping and filing. I will usually do some filing before applying them, then I go in and lightly touch them up before top coat. I’m starting to get back into using dip topcoat instead of gel too, because this stuff freaks me out so much. The possibility of having issues receiving certain medical/dental treatments is the scariest part of all.
Hi Marla! Thanks to you, I started using press ons a while back. I haven''t used tabs yet, but am going to try them. I really think it's healthier for nails, skin and saves time. I love the little cases to store nails, so this is extremely helpful and timely! Thanks again for another awesome video! ❤❤❤❤
Good morning Marla 😊.. aww the tabs dont like my itty bitty nails.. I have very small nail beds. I need to cut down the tabs to fit my small nails but they dont last. Any advice 😅
So let’s figure out why they’re not lasting! I like to prep my nails just as if I were doing a dip or gel mani. Then, I apply the tabs and press ons at night before bed so I don’t need to touch my water for a while! In the morning, they’re STUCK! Not goin anywhere!
I have the same issue though prep doesn't make a difference. They will either fall off, lift and snag on everything, or the nail ends up jammed into or under my cuticle in a painful way. Glue is the only way for me. I'm experimenting with an air dry peel off as I've had contact dermatitis once from gel products already. I can still use some gel products but need to be super duper careful with gel products. It took two to three weeks for my hands to heal. I'm now sensitive to some nail glues too.
Great video. I'm allergic to liquid acrylates. I've found I'm sensitive to any liquid products on my nail bed. Press ons with the tabs are the best alternative💛✨️
Good afternoon! As you know, I switched to press-ons exclusively a while back. One reason was to avoid a gel allergy. Another was time. I suck at filling and shaping! I got really tired of 4+ hour manis that I still wasn't satisfied with. Making them on stands is so much faster and easier for me! I do then the same way you do, I work on one set of 5 while the other is in the lamp. It was such a game changer for me! And there are SO MANY advantages to press-ons. Unlike you, I don't use just the tabs, I need a little glue around them. I can feel them stretch a little if I press straight in on them and it drives me batty. If it's just for an evening, I can deal with it, but I wear them full time, so I use a little glue. I've seen those little cases, I really like them. I haven't bought any. Yet. 😅 Thank you, for the video. Love you, Marla!
Do you know how many times I’ve smacked myself for now doing this 5 years ago?! These are a total game changer for DIY nails. And you’re so right about time! I can easily do 4-5 sets A DAY! And have 🙈 I’m gonna need a support group soon
@MarlaKris girl trust me......I'm slow too. It takes me hours but ADHD + perfectionism is a bad combo🤣🤣🤣 you can do it!!!! I love OPI and LA colors polish if you wanna give it a shot!!❤️
@@twimusic4711 If just regular polish chips like after ONE day… is that pretty normal or is it just the brands I’m using? Thought I’d ask someone who is advocating for it! Lol Thanks
I am confused. What do you use to adhere nails? I ordered some nails from Temu and it came with a hard gel to adhere nails.. then how do you take them off
I have been very interested in doing acrylic press ons, gel press ons, and of course gel polish. Idk if I would ever sell them, but I know I’d make them for myself. I can’t get the tabs to work on my nails though. My nail beds are really small and I find that the tabs, a lot of them, are way to big for my fingers. How do you deal with that? Also, I’ve used tabs that just did not stay stuck, they were simply awful. Do you have a specific brand you are using or are they just the ones that come with a set you bought at one time? 😂 stupid question ik…or it sounds stupid to me anyway. Thanks Marla ❤❤
Hey love! So with smaller nail beds, you can either apply the tabs to the inside of the press on itself or you can cut the tabs to fit your nails! In regards to adhesion, you’ll still want to prep your nails before application. I prefer applying them before bed so I don’t have to worry about water contact for a few hours. The tabs I use are by BTArtbox. They’re SUPER sticky. They’re linked in the description for you 🩷
@@MarlaKris I never thought of putting them in the nail first! Of course I’ve tried cutting them to fit lol I think I missed the scissors class in kindergarten lol 😂 but I get by…hahahaha thanks! I will try these things and thanks for the link.
FIRST: GelX is a specific brand manufactured by Apres. The general product is full cover tips no matter what the tips are comprised of or how they are applied. You may want to consider re-releasing this video with a new voice-over that isn't speaking of a the specific brand name to avoid potential legal issues. SECOND: the problem is GENERALLY not with the product, it is with improper or careless application and primarily getting product on the skin which is not being completely or properly removed before curing, plus not doing correct product research on the chemicals contained in the chosen product line, you put a great deal of effort into educating yourself about the products on the market available to nonprofessionals and you know very well that the products from China are basically unregulated in terms of what chemicals they have in them and even what they state on the label is not necessarily true. Negative health effects are not confined to full cover tips and gel systems, dip flu is a histamine reaction to a product which is not being used in a safe manner too, reactions can happen from nail glue and the various chemicals in the adhesives in dip systems as well, and although less common due to the smaller percentage of DIY users, acrylic comes with its own prospects of causing a reaction. All reputable brands state that the product is not to come into contact with the skin and people not following this instruction is NOT the fault of the product or system it is flat out USER caused.
Preach! As strongly as you state your comments, I’m thinking that you have stock in gel products and that rather cautions me regarding your opinions as well. Just sayin…
Maybe there was some miscommunication somewhere, but I did mention that I’m a DIYer and the cause of contact dermatitis and allergies are in fact due to skin contact, not the product itself. I also specified gel x as well as gel extensions, gel polish, and dip liquids. Perhaps you ought to listen better before you make hasty comments
Marla you did add many times that was to you specifically. To you specifically so many times. You are always very cautious not shed a bad light but in this instance you gave us your personal testimony. We’re DIY’ers figuring things out Together! Forget that long elaborated line of bull. 🌸 love Darla!
@@kathleenheadley1110 totally agree with you. I do highly respect Marla because of her knowledge and honesty. I am very likely to follow her lead but was already challenging the use of gel on natural nails in my mind. I love it for decorating press ons none the less. Thank You for sharing! 😊
Can we make our press on with our gel products we are not going to use due to GEL allergy. Builder gel is what got me. I have so much product I have to get rid of. Unless I can make press ones with my gel products. I have changed my BT art I. Nails to regular acrylic. I appreciate you for making US aware. You’re amazing! Do you think poly gel is out? Love you girl!
Yes!! You can use your gel products to make press ons! Just make sure you’re using proper protection (like cloves) so you don’t flare up your allergy. Once the gel is cured and wiped down, you should be able to safely handle them 🩷🩷
Thank you dear. You have the sweetest heart! I pray you have no more issues and can keep being us all content but in a different way. The world threw you lemons…again… make lemonade! You go Girl! God Bless!
So, HEMA is a chemical often found in gels, but it’s not the only chemical. Some people are allergic to acrylates, which are usually found in HEMA free gels. So it all depends on what exactly you’re allergic to specifically.
I've been loving press ons lately. This gives me courage to do press ons on my channel as well. I have been in a nub phase and enjoying the ability to create everything that I have in my mind.
Do all the press ons!! I know on UA-cam, it’s comfy to do what you know does well. But when you do things you’re passionate about, your audience will see that 🩷
@@MarlaKrisyes! I have so many ideas and I've let the fear of what people think stop me.. I plan to show more things now. Thank you for this! ❤️ It's my process that matters and people want to see the end result anyways.
Within the last few months I had to stop using gel. My fingers would be on fire and I was scratching them like crazy. Then my skin started to peel. I didn't go to the doctor but started using Aquaphor, Neosporin for the pain. Then they finally started healing. I use oils all through the day and that seemed to heal them right up. I have thin nails and I have to have something on my nails so I use only dip liquids and luckily I've had no problems so far. I would try press on but I never can find wide thumb nails. If you know of any please let me know because I never want to feel that pain again in my fingers.
Marla!!! I love these!! And I am trying to find a better alternative to gel x at the moment. i love the look but I can't deal anymore. I don't dip anymore either. My nails are very short and I have no idea where to find good press-ons. I like short coffin or short stiletto/almond. Amazon has very little for me. Thanks for posting this video!!
Anytime I have tried sticky tabs, it feels like they never fully "set". They always slide around, and I can't stand it. I must be doing something wrong 😕
It’s more so the ingredients in gel (like hema or acrylates) that can cause contact dermatitis when your skin is exposed. There is potential risk in everything we do on our nails, but using products with minimal allergens is usually the safer bet. For me - that’s glue. 🩷
Good morning Marla! I am one person who ended up with chronic spongiotic dermatitis!!! It’s taken almost a year to finally get a diagnosis. It’s one of the worse issues I’ve dealt with in the past few years. 2 biopsies and a excessive amount of creams that didn’t work. Now I can finally be treated. Be VERY careful with what you use to remove your nails. I used acetone and ended up with chemical burns on my left finges. Thank you for your video on CAUTION!!! Have a great day 🌹
I’m so sorry you’ve had to struggle with that! I couldn’t even imagine 😔 but you’re so right. We, as diy nail artists, just throw all this junk on our skin with zero effs given. So my mission has become to find alternatives! No more acetone needed! 🙌🏻
I was wondering why there were so many press on nail videos from you lately. I respect your rationale for switching and it’s also good to encourage people to do their research. One question I have is why you don’t appear to file the nails to customize (or perhaps you prefer the long, square)? I also love the idea of press ons for cleaner polish/dip application as I always have bulk and haven’t mastered a clean, bump-free look.
I have never done gel extensions nor press on nails. My natural nails are strong thanks to warm oil soaks. I am addicted to gel polish as it gives more strength and dip with gel as well. I am very careful to not get anything on my skin. That is a beautiful pink and the storage case is perfect 🤩😍🤩😍. 🥰😍😘💓
Thank you, Marla, for always keeping us informed. I have been out of the nail loop for a while due to health issues and I would love the link to how you make and apply your own press on nails.
While sensitivity to product causing dermatitis or developing a serious allergy to it is a concern... My biggest concern with gel polish is the UV light to cure... for people who do their nails a lot that is putting them at higher risk of skin cancer. The directed UV light exposure to hands has always been my biggest concern.
Unfortunately I ended up with contact dermatitis when I started doing gel nails 😢. Now I stick to making press on for that exact dance reason. I wear gloves and wipe the nails down with alcohol before I glue them on.
As a licensed nail tech, I have used hard gels for over 32 years without any of my clients developing contact dermatitis. This must be more for a diy person that doesn't understand how to properly use the products. I apply gel to approximately 10 clients per day, 6 days a week and I, like you, have never developed it and I don't wear gloves. I hate that you have experienced so many people that have had a bad experience but it's also why licensed techs that are constantly educated in the field have very little to no development of an allergy.
That’s almost exactly what it is.. the epidemic of allergies has engulfed the DIY community likely due to lack of skill BUT I also know of many nail techs that are afflicted as well. Maybe we just got lucky 🤷🏻♀️ but I definitely don’t want to press my luck and risk not being able to use gel products anymore, ya know?
Team Press On here!! I love love them. Luxxi and Glamnetic are great!! I need to lean how to do myself.. So not coordinated 😂. Love you Marla!! Take care ❤
Thank you so much for promoting safety! I love what you're doing now. I have a book I keep my press-ons in. Takes up less room than the cases. ❤ I'll dm you. :)
Press ons have a lot less risk with them. The nail fungus that comes from press ons isnt painful usually and is actually pretty easy to treat and get rid of. From experience reaction to gel is extremely painful. My fingers felt like they had been burned and it took like a month for my hands to stop being painful and heal enough to function normally.
Wow. I have no gel allergy but am VERY allergic to latex. That is what the rubber base coat you use is made from. Ugh. And its one of those allergies where the more you come in contact with it, the more chance you have of developing the allergy. I can't even use regular bandaids. So be careful of that too everyone!
I don't get the same enjoyment watching your fake nail manicures although I understand your reasoning behind the switch. Maybe you could do one natural nail manicure per week to give a rest to your nails? I am a fan of the "nibblet" length natural nails because I am active and need mobility. For that reason press on does not work for me. Problems with them...restrictive feeling, pop off frequently with any pressure, look thick, hold moisture underneath them (fungus magnet).
That’s the plan!! I’m not quitting dip, so don’t worry about that! I’ll have a nice mix of content going forward 🩷 thank you for your input!! I appreciate you!

Yes exactly!! Pop offs aren’t a problem anymore!! 🙌🏻
Thanks! ❤❤❤❤
Welcome to #teampresson!! 🙌🏻🩷
Do the adhesive tabs last longer than a few days? If not, what type of adhesive, besides glue will kast at least a week?
I use the dip liquid base to glue the nail down! Lasts two weeks and no curing!
Perfection!! 🙌🏻
Hos do they come off? Acetone?
Will this work for acrylate allergies? Which liquid do you use?
@@MarlaKrisDoing them at night so they dry and attach super well. GENIUS!! 🤓
What tabs do you use to stick on your press ons ? Is it in your Amazon store front ?
I get you, this is me too. I make press-ons with Light Elegance gels, use glue to adhere, and file off. That's what works for me.
Perfection!! You’re my people 🩷
I've never had an allergy due to nail products in 35 years.
It really is so much easier!! Have you tried the BTArtbox tabs? They’re longer and a little wider (I love them bc my nail beds are so big!)
How do you off the tabs! Soaking in water? Getting me some btartbox ones for my nail beds now!
Hope they are in your store!
I love that pink.
I think it's great that you gave everyone a beware on the chemicals involved in doing our nails. Information is good.
Can’t have enough good info!! 🤣🩷
Literally the video I have been looking for ! So excited to try this
Omg you’re gonna have such a ball making these!!
Marla! You have done it again!! Now I am shopping for press on nails!!! I like you am concerned about the allergy thing. The problem I have with press on nails are they never fit! I have wide nail beds. Do you have any brands you recommend for that issue?? Thanks
You can use the nails you already have except your making your own custom press on nail your perfect size!
I’ve been doing and making press on nails myself lately. I totally get it!
Ok late to the party INTRIGUED but if glue and gel are bad for your nails - what are you using to get the press on to stick? What am I missing here? Thanks Marla love you
Hey love! I use adhesive tabs! That way I don’t have to worry about glue on my skin or soaking off in acetone!
I recently tried the Makartt tabs available on Amazon and they worked great! Getting ready to apply my patriotic series in the next day or so.
How long do the press on nails last? I like to get three weeks out of my manicure.
Totally depends on how you prep and apply!
What is dip flu????????😳
The pink is so soft and pretty. It is great that you educate your viewers. I had professional mani’s every other week for more than 10 years with gel polish (CND brand); thankfully I never had an issue. Like you I suck at regular nail polish!!
I’m too slow for polish 🤣 it dries before I’m even done!
I hope your family member is doing better 🫶🏻🩷
Thanks Marla
.. Same person different device sign in lol xx
I noticed there is no buffing the nail? Will the gel polish stay? I'm going to try this and want any tips that will help keep them looking fresh. Ty
Please report back if you try it!
thanks for the info Marla..
Do you have any sources to post of the percentage of those who had gelx harm done to them?

I have recently been itching so bad on my entire hands and even skin peeling after my last two Manis. As a matter of a fact I just done one yesterday and I'm itching to death!! What should I do??
Remove them completely! What’s on your nails?
Request a Hema free or hypoallergenic product. Light Elegance should be available at your Salon. If they don't have it, find one that does.
You’re so welcome! The tabs can last up to a week! Just try to void water or heat for 2-3 hours after you apply them 🩷
Unt peel base is safe!
As long as it’s not a peel base that needs to be cured.
As long as you’re not getting it on your skin at all, you shouldn’t have any issue! Just be super careful with application 🩷
@@MarlaKris thank you!
Hi Maria i have a question, I have very small nail plate and all my nails are different shapes too! double whammy lol, i have tried the sticky tabs and they just dont work for me the either stick up or just simply dont fit so what am i to do?? anyway love your vids thanks xxxxx
Totally relatable! But reverse lol my abnormally large nail beds 😂 So the tabs are customizable! You can always trim them to fit.
Hey there gorgeous! So glad you’re loving the press on journey!! I’m right there with ya! 🩷
Thanks!
Hey love! Sadly.. yes. But only if you’re applying with gel. You can 100% use glue to adhere them!
Ok cool thank you! I use glue or dip base to adhere them. ✌️
Just waiting for mine to come it. That's what I'm about to start doing.
@@MarlaKris will the tabs last? I am pretty busy..I don’t have super long nails…just past my finger tips. …might be a safer way to go…
Do u have a video on how to remove press-ons applied with adhesive tabs n not ruin them. Also can u send link for tabs u use?
Ugh, that must have been so frustrating! Glad you’re able to use dip liquids tho! 🙌🏻
Are the tabs not also a type of glue that could cause issues too?
There’s always a possibility BUT the tabs don’t flood your cuticles or make skin contact generally, so it’s a safer option for me than gel or glue 🩷
Absolutely! You can stack the tabs! That will help to fill in that gap 🩷
Hi Marla, I just need clarification… no products go on your nails ( only the sticky tabs) ? How long can you wear the press ons? I suppose if one pops off, you just use a new sticky tab, correct?
@@MarlaKris I didn't even think of that! Thanks!

I’m not saying “no” to anything! All I’m saying is to be careful and cautious. I won’t be using gels on my natural nails for the foreseeable future!
@@MarlaKris alrighty then. I interpret your response to mean that you will not be applying any gel products including rubber, building and peel base to your natural nails. I get it! Thank You for sharing! 😊
@@moongoddess42d I’ll def still be using peel base under dip! I couldn’t live without that 😂
@@MarlaKris ahhh.
Hey Marla,
I am confused, when you say gel x, do you just mean a brand or any kind of gel?
Any kind of gel applied extension! I know “gel x” is a brand, but that’s a very commonly used term for gel extensions these days 💙

@MarlaKris thank you I will change mu routine to night time 🌙
@@davidnormamendoza5206 let me know if that works better for you!

Love those little boxes! Got them a couple months ago. ❤
Omg they’re the best!!! Remember I said at least 10? Since the voice over.. I have over 40 sets 🙈 send haaaaalp!
Great video. I'm allergic to liquid acrylates. I've found I'm sensitive to any liquid products on my nail bed. Press ons with the tabs are the best alternative💛✨️
When you use tabs, are you more susceptible to greenies?
Yet. 😅
Thank you, for the video. Love you, Marla!

I am confused. What do you use to adhere nails? I ordered some nails from Temu and it came with a hard gel to adhere nails.. then how do you take them off
I definitely don’t use the gel. I prefer adhesive tabs but you can use glue if you prefer! Just try not to get any on your skin 🩷

Yes, The Salon Life here on UA-cam has a great video on the dangers of at home gel use. Do you sticky tabs that you like. Thanks ❤

What about HEMA free products?
So, HEMA is a chemical often found in gels, but it’s not the only chemical. Some people are allergic to acrylates, which are usually found in HEMA free gels. So it all depends on what exactly you’re allergic to specifically.
But HEMA is an acrylate. Hydroxyethyl Methacrylate

Thanks for all the great info on GelX. How do you take your press ons off? TFS
Love this nail storage idea! 😍
Right?! They’re so perfect!!
Anytime I have tried sticky tabs, it feels like they never fully "set". They always slide around, and I can't stand it. I must be doing something wrong 😕
I find it best to apply them before bed so you can avoid any water contact for a few hours. That usually gives the best adhesion 🩷
Forgive my ignorance, but can someone explain to me what gel-x is exactly, please?
Gel X is technically a brand, but it’s a commonly used term for full cover nail extensions applied with gel
But doesn't the glue still sink in your nails with press on?
It’s more so the ingredients in gel (like hema or acrylates) that can cause contact dermatitis when your skin is exposed. There is potential risk in everything we do on our nails, but using products with minimal allergens is usually the safer bet. For me - that’s glue. 🩷
I can’t get most of the links you supplied yo work
Amazon sellers change links pretty frequently. What did you need? I’ll get new links for you
Good morning Marla!
Does mean no more gel usage? I am little confused. I don't want to use press ons.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you!!! Important info! 🧡✌🏼
Thank YOU for being here 🩷
I love the idea of press on’s but I can never get the tabs too work 😭
Let’s talk it out. Are you prepping before application?
I have never done gel extensions nor press on nails. My natural nails are strong thanks to warm oil soaks. I am addicted to gel polish as it gives more strength and dip with gel as well. I am very careful to not get anything on my skin. That is a beautiful pink and the storage case is perfect 🤩😍🤩😍. 🥰😍😘💓
I still have to try your warm oil soak! Thank for the reminder! 🩷
Warm oil soak? Oooooh do share!

@@kimberlyskinner8177 thanks!!
I wish I seen this 3 days ago. 😭 I got an allergic reaction. Now I'm trying to file off builder gel. 😭 I'm hoping I can at least glue on a press on.
Oh noooo!!! You should be ok with glue but if not, I love the adhesive tabs for press ons!
@@MarlaKris I would try the tape but I wouldn't think it would feel real. 😟
Thank you, Marla, for always keeping us informed. I have been out of the nail loop for a while due to health issues and I would love the link to how you make and apply your own press on nails.
I have a whole application video coming but this will give you the gist: ua-cam.com/video/N-tLGTKkl8E/v-deo.html

I’m so sorry you went though that but I’m SO glad there’s an alternative for you!! 🙌🏻
🤯🤯🤯
Do you always use tabs for application?
Yes ma’am!!
Only press on nails 💅🏼 for me.
That dermatitis was the end for me.
You’re not alone!! But press ons rock, so you’re in good company 🩷
Hi Marla. Are you still using Danni and Toni products? That's pretty much all I use... Thank you for the video.
I haven’t used them in a while but yes! Those are semi-cured and it’s not links you can flood your cuticles with gel using them 🩷
Team Press On here!! I love love them. Luxxi and Glamnetic are great!! I need to lean how to do myself.. So not coordinated 😂. Love you Marla!! Take care ❤
You don’t need coordination at all! I’m telling you.. this is EASY!!! Try it once. You’ll be hooked. Love you girly! 🩷
I still use traditional nail polish because I am afraid of getting contact dermatitis and a gel allergy
Can’t say I blame ya!
Thank you so much for promoting safety! I love what you're doing now. I have a book I keep my press-ons in. Takes up less room than the cases. ❤ I'll dm you. :)
I so appreciate you 🫶🏻🩷
I was a dip powder girl. Then I started using gel and developed a gel allergy. So sad!
It happens. A LOT. If you still want to play with gels, this is a way you can! 🙌🏻
@@MarlaKris I would love to still play with gel! I have some gel polish that I really like!
To be honest you're right everyone should just do what they like but I should also warn you that press ons are bad too you can get nail fungus.
Oh wow, that’s great information! Thank you for sharing this 🩷
you can also get allergic reaction to nail glue and monomer as well! that is why no product should touch your skin! thanks for the awareness !
YES!! Preach!!! 🙌🏻
Hi beautiful. I too am leaning towards tips.
Hey love! Theyre seriously so fun. I have more press on content right around the corner! (Like Thursday!)
