I have super thin nails. I bought builder gel in a bottle because I thought that would help, and then I was shocked when my nails would always immediately lift haha. Well, problem is that they really don't have their own structure. I found out that rubber base gel is a lot more flexible! It's probably what I should have been using all along. I just bought a bottle and have yet to test it but I'm excited to!
How did it work out? I’m in the same situation!!
I find builder in a bottle works well as long as you prep your nails and do not get the product on your cuticles at all. That’s usually the trick with most nail products though.
@@oliviagalluccii i am just seeing this, but i have been literally growing my nails for these last 8 months! i mean, trimming of course, but i have only used rubber base gel and i will never go back. my nails look like acrylics and none have broken this whole time.
@@augustinemuller8549Hi! Would you mind sharing the brand that you’ve been using as rubber base?!
I’d like to know the brand too!
💕 idk where to start. This video was AMAZING! You talked like you were speaking to me (the person who says that's pretty as the only input to nails) directly. I learned so much from this and now I want to spend all of my next paycheck on nail supplies and play with them on my daughters. Thank you for teaching and explaining things to help my thin, brittle, gel rejecting nails. Hope your day is as beautiful as you are too 💕
You make my heart smile 🥰 thank you for your kindness! Please report back and lmk how you like it!! 💗
Question what product did you use to wipe the rubber base?
So glad for this! I am a devoted builder base girl (ManiBoss pink lace forever!) but have been wondering what to do with this. I've got extremely thin and soft nails (... from birth, not damage) and medication I have to take makes it worse. Gotta try this again 💜 (no pink heart on my device.)
So relatable!! Please let me know how this gel works for you! ❤️❤️
Same here: Thin, overly flexible nails. Yuck!
💖
What kind of medication makes it worse?
@@shushudragon6840 idk if their nails are like mine, but hard as hoofs did nothing for my nails. I used the entire container and my nails are exactly the same as before
💖💖💖 I’ve been using rubber base gel for a bit now and love it. It’s a go to for doing glitter ombré or even a peekaboo with the right combos.
Oh that’s a great idea!! 💞
💕 I am a non-gel user but always here for all the deets. Thanks for the great info!!
Thanks so much for watching!! 💞
That was awesome!💖I'd never heard of rubber base gel and now I'm going to try it! I love the natural look but need more support. I'm also active and have damaged my nail beds by having a super hard nail get bent backwards (ouch!!). This looks like the perfect solution! Thanks!
Please let me know how it works for you!! 🙌🏻💗
My nails have always been thin. I will definitely have to try this! Thank you! Great video! 💖
Let me know how it works for you!❤️
🩷 thank you for this video. I've been seeing/hearing about rubber base, but wasn't sure exactly what it was. Gels don't seem to stay on, lifting no matter what I do. So I stick with dips. I might have to give this thing a try.
You’re so welcome 💗💗
💕 Marla I love your videos.
I’ve been using robber base for awhile. I’m not 100% sure but I think it makes a difference. I’m one of those people who can’t use just gel products-I HAVE to include dip powder with them or they just won’t stick, even with a primer. I’m also allergic to Hema, so I’ve found Mani Boss and Luxie Nails have excellent Hema-free gel products.
Take care and God bless!
I’m so glad you found some amazing options that work for you!! 🙌🏻❤️
May I ask what type of reaction you have w the hema? I know nothing about nail polish or products, but I have extreme skin and nail problems on my hands so I need to be aware of potential probs when I finally decide to have nails that aren't horrifying.
@@miaknig3130 I break out with extremely itchy skin anywhere the Hema product touches. Then I scratch and get blisters and pain from the blisters after they break and it’s awful! The only way to manage the reaction is to use a steroid cream that I got from the doctor and then it still takes a while to get in control.
To avoid the reaction I use only Hema-free products, I keep the product off my skin, and after a fresh mani, I use a small precautionary measure of the steroid cream to keep everything calm. I also don’t do my nails any more often than once every week or two, either. Since I already know I’m sensitive to it, I want to avoid getting any worse.
Hope that helps!
@@miaknig3130It depends if the product gives you contact dermatitis that basically looks like tiny hard bubbles under your skin, sometimes just a few on some fingers and sometimes a lot of them on all fingers so it might be hard to see at first, I had dermatitis like this for a little while and just stopped using gel and regular polish for about 2 months and tried again being very careful to not have polish touch the skin at all and I threw away all the cheap gels I got from low quality chinese brands and so far nothing happened but I got lucky. Allergy is basically burning and swelling of the fingers mostly around the nail after application and even lifting of the nail if your nail is thin or damaged and the particles go through it down to the skin under, it's pretty easy to notice
@@Arithekiller wow, thank you! My hands randomly overreact to things that I use daily eg I wear gloves everyday, but occasionally the gloves that are normally benign, will cause extreme swelling, itching, and burning. I tried to use "O'Keefe for working hands" moisturizer, but it caused one of the worst reactions I've ever had. When I tried to wash it off, the cold water seemed to cause the burning to increase. Thanks again!
Oh I love this. I normally use clear dip powder as my base, but I find the refill process to be tedious. I also have naturally thin and flexible nails, so I am going to try this. Thanks for video! 🩷
The fills on this are SO effortless!!
You use clear dip powder then you use gel polish?
In my experience, rubber base is not for you if your hands are frequently in water, or damp for long periods of time. I have curly hair and it takes me an hour to style (I hate it), which means my fingers will be damp with water and curl product for that amount of time. My rubber base peeled off in one sheet as if it had been a peel base; I had done them the day before.💕
My hands are in water CONSTANTLY, so maybe it isn't the best for me.
I know it totally depends on the person and your nail chemistry. Have you found something that works better for you?
Oh no! I really wanted to try this but I have my hand in water a lot for work :(
So I use rubber gel and I get my hands wet often. The only time I’ve ever experienced this is when I did not properly prep my nails. Clean your cuticles very well with a wooden cuticle pusher, cuticle scissors and A nail drill using safety bits. Then give your nails a nice rough surface, use a dehydrator and primer meant for gel application. Then apply your rubber base. It will last you a very long time, I can typically go 3 weeks before I redo mine and even then there’s no lifting. I only redo it because I don’t like how overgrown nail polish looks. I’m pretty sure I could push it way past 3 weeks.
For me builder gel peeled of next day due to contact with water
💗i love the way it looks so natural great video as always thanks for sharing xxx
I won't use anything apart from rubber base if you buy the correct one your nails will last a long time and strong
You said to use a top coat after mentioning it’s tacky so if anyone has good cheap top coats, especially a matte one, and if anyone knows, can you use a normal nail polish topcoat?
💓 I finally got time to watch. I have been hearing about the rubber building gel. Thanks for the information!
That is so clean and beautiful. Thank you!🩷
💖I’m a builder gel fan. But now just finding out about rubber base gel, well well I might have to give this a try. Thanks for the info ❤
Let me know if you try it! ❤️
Maria, I didn't read every comment (but many). I was looking for the question: what is the best electric cuticle sander?
💗💗 my amazon order ended up getting cancelled, so I just ordered from West Coast Dips. Love mine! It’s especially nice for filling in tips
Boooo to amazon but yay for WCD! So glad you’re loving them! 💗🫶🏻
🩷 this was awesome 👏🏼 and answered all my questions. I haven’t done my nails in several months because…. Life… but I want to get back at it. Just ordered this in clear and a non sticky BG since I will have to sculpt a few nails. Hopefully I’ll have great results.
I’ve been wanting to learn more about rubber base gel! Thank you for sharing!! 💕
You’re so welcome!! 🫶🏻💞
💖 your videos are always the best. I just recommended you to a friend who is just getting started with dip powder
Omgosh thank you soooo much!! 🫶🏻💜
Thank you Marla!! Happy New Year to you!!! 💖
💗💗💗 your videos never disappoint Marla! Thank you so much! You've described my natural nails to a T! So I'll need to def look into this product.
I'm curious to hear how you liked your natural nails when you remove this. It seems it may not give any air to the nail to allow it to be healthy still on the bed but I will wait to see what you find. 😉 I would want to leave it on for as long as it stays.
Happy day after St. Patrick's day 🍀🙏🏼❣️❣️😎 Looking forward to your next one.
I've just started putting on full coverage tips on my nails, covers whole nail. I find removal is much nicer than the dip on my natural nails 💅 Mine seem to split and peel after they are removed, as well as rip down. 😞
God bless you and thank you for creating your content 🙏🏻 ✨️. Blessings 🙌 🙏🏻
Hey love! So your nails are dead. They don’t need to “breathe” so they’re not suffocating lol. As long as you peel carefully and remove well, your nail shouldn’t take any damage! ❤️
@@MarlaKrisExactly, and the oxygen supply to your nail bed itself comes from your bloodstream, not the air.
💗 so informative. Love the way you explain and show the process.
🫶🏻💗 thank you so much for your kindness!
Can you do a video on how to use this with press ons and/or tips? I have very thin, flexible nails that break easy and I want to have the glamorous extended look as I work on growing them out.
💗 do you think you could adhere gelly tips with the rubber base gel?
You def can!! 💞
@@MarlaKris thank you 🥰
I was looking forward to seeing how you do the nail enhancement after this with the peel off base on the rubber base
So from where I left off, just apply the peel base and then either dip or gel! Easy peasy! 💗
💖 Thanks Marla! Love watching your videos!!
Thank you so much!! 🫶🏻💗
🩷 Not sure if this is the first video l watch on this channel but thanks for the information. It was great to see how to prep with a efile and learn more about rubber gel. 😀 Good day!
💓 Great video. Can't wait to try this product. I have really thin nails damaged from medication and acrylics 😢
Aww I hope it works for you! Please report back! 🙌🏻
That’s good to know the difference 💕
Agreed! 💞
Hi Marla! Love your videos! Huge fan of yours! You've taught me everything I know about DIY nails. Anywho, can you tell me the bit you were using on your cuticles during prep in this video? I looked in your links but couldn't find that exact one...unless I missed it. Thanks!! ❤
Thank you so much, sweets!! You make my heart smile 💞
Yep! It’s a diamond cuticle bit. I’ll link it here for you! amzn.to/3FRaBbx
I don’t know if this is a dumb question but from what I’m understanding I can have the gel rubber base then have my normal gel overlay correct?
Yes! It can be worn alone as an overlay or used as a base gel for builder gel, polygel, or gel polish!
💖 so informative. I’ve been using it as a base for my BG because it seems to adhere best, but maybe I’ll try skipping the bg altogether.
Let me know how it goes! 💗🫶🏻
Love this video! I'm still learning all about the gel world so forgive me if this is a stupid question: should you apply regular or gel nail polish after the rubber base gel? If I apply gel on top, that means when I'm soaking it off the rubber base is coming out too, right? So how do people not take the rubber base off and just fill in? I don't know how to proceed, pls someone hellllp
Good morning! 💖
Good morning sunshine! 💗💗
Hey, Maria what kind of drill do you recommend for a beginner, I just bought some rubber base coat because my nails are thin and bendy, and over the weekend I was cutting carrots the knife caught my nail and cut it close to the skin so I wanted to use this product to make my nail more sturdy. Another question can you use builder gel and rubber top coat together, also if you can please post a nail recovery routine for thin, brittle, bendy nails, I would appreciate it so so so much. Thank you in advance.
I like rubber gels because it soaks off so easily. No electric filing on my nails beds. My nails are frail enough. It’s worth the extra cost but I wish I could do it myself
I have thin nails as well and anything I put directly on my nails as far as glue or gel nails it peels my natural nail because they are unbelievably thin and they are healthy. Also, my question is could I put this underneath a press on nail for protection of my natural nail?
this was incredibly helpful omg,, just earned yourself a new subscriber 🎉🎉🎉
Welcome to the family, sweets! Happy to have you! 🫶🏻💕
Thank you for making this video. I like simple and classy.🩷
🩷 Great tutorial on rubber gel. I love it.
This was honestly so informative! & The comments ❤ love it ! Do you have a builder gel video ?
I sure do! Here’s the link: ua-cam.com/video/lc4TJO6aXj0/v-deo.html

💖 I just saw this and was wondering what is was. Thanks!!!
You’re so welcome! 🫶🏻💞
Great information. I have thin brittle nails that are now more damaged bks of acryrlic and gel . How do i ask the salon if they use r
Ubber base gel or would consider using it.? Thanks for your info. Enjoyed it, even 3 weeks later💓💓💓💓💓💓
💕 Thanks so much. Exactly what I was looking for.
💓 Thanks for explaining the difference!
You’re so welcome, love! 💞
Can you use rubber base gel underneath a poly gel extension gel manicure? Like a protective layer?
❤️
🩷 Thank you for this video, I have a question, can we use regular nail polish on top of the rubber base gel?
💓 Thank you for clarifying what this is!
💗🫶🏻 you’re so welcome!!
My experience with gels have been odd my nails developed surface full of vertical lines that won’t disappear and I know of several persons that have the same thing happened to them and worst part is that it does not go away it seems permanently now
Oh wow.. I haven’t heard of that before! Do you think it’s some sort of reaction?
💕 I made it lol...love it very informative and def gonna buy this product I've been looking at for a long time now!! Lol...thanks loves ❤
Please report back!! 💞💞
Question …. In order to dip, would you apply a base coat of clear gel and then peel base? Or would you apply peel base directly to the rubber base once cleaned?
I would buff the rubber base smooth and the peel base but you could also top coat the rubber base and then peel base! 💞
@@MarlaKris Thank you!
💓 Informational and fun as always.
💕 Loved this video. Great info.
So is this similar to Young Nail mani-q fiber gel?

lol you’ve found your people!! So glad you’re here! ♥️
Can you recommend a company where I can get a clear or almost clear rubber base? I really want to try it
I’ve heard great things about the painted desert! I believe they have clear rubber base
Very real and informative ❤

Good morning, Nailgician Queen
Good morning, beautiful!! 💞💞
Thank you Marla, always love your videos!!! My hands are in water a lot throughout the day, do you think this will hold up to frequent hand washing?
Thank YOU, sweets!! As long as you prep your nails REALLY well, you shouldn’t have lifting issues 💞
@Marla Kris Okay great, thank you!!! 😊
@marlakris can you do a fill with rubber base gel?
You absolutely can!! Here’s a video. This is for builder but you can do the same process for RBG.. ua-cam.com/video/_trHrXQVkI4/v-deo.htmlsi=mu088gRsVKRk7OYQ
💗Thank you again for your great tutorial. This one answere a lot of my questions about rubber base :) Miss your YT live too ;)
Guess I need to do some more lives then! 🫶🏻💞
💓liked this video. Thanks.
can i apply normal nail polish/lacquer on top of a rubber base gel? if i can, how do i get rid of the tacky layer before applying the polish?
i have thin and very flexible nails. i want to strengthen my nails and let them grow longer, so i want to use a rubber base to help with that. i don’t want to bother with buying gel polish though because i have so much regular nail polish already.
You totally can!
Just use some alcohol to remove the tacky layer, file if needed, and then you’re ready for polish! ❤️
💗 Loved the video. It was very informative & helpful. Thank you so much. My nails are weak from having MRSA my entire life. I've received acrylic or feel nails for over 30+ years now... so I'm looking into better options & I do believe I have found that with you. 😊🎉
I have noticed the rumors about getting skin cancer from the UV lamps, ebbs and flows, one year you can get it and the next you can’t. So, I’m like you I don’t give in to the hype but hey, if you want to protect yourself go for it. I also figure, your hand is in the lamp for such a short period of time and lamp is not very strong. But, thanks for trying this out, I was curious about this product ♥️
So much yes! And you’re so welcome!! 💞
I have heard the same. I actually bought some gloves from amazon that have no tips to give a little protection to my hands.
Where can I get one of those cuticle drill thingy you used in prep?
The whole efile or just the bit?
Love this! 💖
Can this rubber gel used over laying with builder gel?
Absolutely!! I’d suggest using the rubber base under builder ❤️
What is the color name or number for the rubber base gel? The amazon link doesn't look like the same color 💗
It was Almond, looks to be sold out on amazon but it’s available on the inhype website!
I also have thin flimsy nails, do you think the rubber base would be less likely to cause lifting? I feel like my diy nail career is starting from scratch again since I switched to hema free products. I have nails popping off left and right! I feel pretty confident with my nail prep( since I did not have this issue before hema free) but the builder gel will not stay on. I'm hoping rubberbase me the answer thanks for your videos and kowledge
Can you tell me about your prep routine? Additionally, products can perform differently on everyone. Personally, acrylic always stays better on my than gel
@@MarlaKris avoid getting hands wet for afew hours prior to starting, cuticle prep, lightly file natural nail, clean well with swipe,
use a dehydrator, then hema free primer, then thin coat base gel, cure, usually two thin layers of builder gel ( short nails) and I take orange wood stick around sidewalls and cuticles after each gel product application. then continue with dip or top coat or gel color
Hi Marla I absolutely love your videos, I’ve been using nail enhancements for over 30 years and I would love to be able to stop using them unfortunately when I don’t have product on my nails they are so sensitive even to warm water. Do you think this rubber base might be a product that if used with a top coat might help me get away from gel or dip . X
Hey love! Well, it is gel. So if you’re trying to avoid gels, this wouldn’t be it. But I do think it would be great for thin or damaged nails!
💗 Love your videos!
Thank you so much!! 💗🫶🏻
🩷 is the rubber base a soak off removal as well?
Yes! Soaks off perfectly! 💗
💖 Thanks
Thank you.💗
💗very educational video
Another great video! TFS! 💗
Thank you so much, lovebug! 💗
You might consider ditching buffing and using a bit rougher prep, that way gel will adhere.
Yep that’ll help for sure. I try not to do that tho since I do my nails so frequently.
Thank you 🙏🏾
