I've "loved" all the comments I've found with snake puns! You all are quite impressive! Thank you for the help!
The pun you were trying to think of was just snaking right by you.
I expected you to say that when you first pulled the skin out of the box, it had you rattled.
All of the puns keep slitheRING right by you!
"Snuns"
Snake you for sharing this with us
"This is it. This is the weirdest thing I've ever done. I've peaked." Immediately I'm debating sending you snake bones or iridescent beetle elytra to stick in resin and do something wacky with! 😂
beetle elytra is sooo pretty
Please please please do
I third the beetle elytra. Amazing colors are possible.
oh yes the beetle thing would look cool!
Thank you for teaching me a new word: "elytra!" :) Neat!
You really SHED some light on the potential uses of snakeskin.
After mentioning micarta being the Lasagne of craftwork, I'd LOVE to see a Lasagne themed micarta project. Dark red coloured card layered with yellow and cream coloured card in the classic Lasagne pattern.
Maybe each 'layer' could be multiple different colours. Various reds with brown and maybe even dark greens to simulate meat sauce.
Yellow with lighter and darker shades for the pasta layer
Well, you can just make lasagne with a resin instead of sauce. Would make a cool blank. Thanks for the idea)
Just use actual lasagna noodles and a tomato red 'sauce' resin stacked with a cheese resin.
I tried to think of a snake pun that I could “slither” in, but I just couldn’t “rattle” one up. Love the video!!
Glad you're over the initial being creeped out by the material. When you mentioned putting it under a blacklight, I had the thought about how Scorpions fluoresce also and would be interesting to see, but maybe that would also have the same creep factor.
*deep breath*
OK. That would be sorta neat. :)
@@peterbrownwastaken I doubt you'd be able to turn it into easier to ignore shapes like the snake shed being effectively paper
The snake skin is still kind of creepy though...
@@willburke does a dried scorpion still fluoresce? If yes, then several options for encapsulating the exoskeleton of the scorpion. Either whole (many of them) or crushed / pieces.
@@blaircox1589 Yes, I can verify that it actually does still fluoresce, since I own a real scorpion that's been encased inside of a resin half-sphere.
Side note: a similar paperweight can often be seen floating around the scene of 'Tiny Desk' concerts. The trinket was sold in those 'Natural Wonders' stores of the late 90's shopping mall.
Sponsor: Hey, show how good our tools are at cutting stuff
Peter: I'm gonna use it to turn crayons!
never change
Don't forget it was also a HIGH SPEED tool he used at a low speed
@@Crow_Smith on a material he had just used his finger nail to trim the edges.
I think both rings *turned* out *striking*.😏🤭
Just watching you use that square silicone mold set for the micarta has me thinking....a see through snake skin box. 😱 You could put things inside it & it would be like looking inside a snakes belly. That'd be a helluva candy dish.
That would be soooo Coool! You could do it as a bowl or just cast skin panels and make a fun box... or a skin tube w some lights inside for a nightlight...
Great idea!!
Now I'm quite curious to see some "fish skin" micarta and resin pour. The metallic grey scale should give a cool effect to it!
The micarta ring looks quite cool, as you said, like a cracked quartz stone!
Glad you were able to snake your way through the pitfalls of this project and didn't get rattled which could have bit you in the asp...
@Terry, really piling on the puns there! 😂
"I can tell by the racing of my heart that it is time to switch over to sandpaper" 😂😂
Hello beautiful how are you doing hope everything is going well with you?
I have always assumed making rings would be difficult, giving their tiny size and required attention to detail. You made it look tons easier than I dreamt it could possibly be. I have watched you making things without the metal cores, and well .... Looks hard. But with the ring cores, it takes away a lot of the guessing of sizes, and half the sanding. I may just have to give these a try. Thank you for sharing.
You should, the kits do make the process very attainable!
I wonder how the snakeskin ring would look with the micarta stacked the other way so the scale pattern would be on the outside rather than the scale edges showing! But they both looked very cool!
Yeah that was my first thought but I think then you wouldn't be making micarta
I feel like the result would probably look really similar, the ring is so delicate you might not be able to see the scale pattern too much even if it was facing the surface, plus they are stacked and transparent
Stacking (glueing) them around a cylender would work, but would entail more work to do, and more of a mess. It would give an outward facing pattern, even if it wasn't clear due to the layers.
The scale of this project came out very awesome :D
I have to admit, i was a bit nervous about the finished product while you were turning the snakeskin ring, but it looks fantastic once it's finished. The micarta looks really complex and interesting, and I think it made for a very attractive ring!
Thank you!
I wonder how different it would have turned out if the layers were wrapped around a central point instead of a flat stack.
Great idea!
I really like the look of the snake skin ring. It totally has the quartz look.
I like them both! I wonder what dyed snakeskin would look like on one of your projects. I just pictured a snakeskin resin clock hanging over a bar. 😄
Love them both, be aware that if you leave the crayon ring in the sun, the crayon can melt. Happend to me with a bezel necklace and the whole piece came out.
Thanks for answering a concern I immediately had with that ring! 😁
It’s beautiful, but I live in the desert and my mind instantly wondered what would happen if I ever left the ring in my car on accident?!?! Yikes! Lol
I’m not really a ring person but I appreciate the beauty of both pieces and the snake skin one has the added appeal because of the effort it took to make it. I’ve often wondered how the rings are made so thank you so much for the education today. I enjoyed this as always. Thanks for entertaining me again Peter 😀👍
Your videos have "slithered" into my heart
The snakeskin does remind me of rutilated quartz, I love the effect it creates in the resin. Another "let's put something weird in resin" success, Peter!
Looks awesome. I have saved up my snakes shedding and this gives me a few ideas for them.
I love how well both of those turned out!
Your reservations were understandable but heck yeah that came out nice
These videos are always worth the wait, truly one of the best craftspeople on UA-cam :)
Could you make the micarta by wrapping the skin around something round and turning it so that you get the full snakeskin pattern? Thats what I thought you would do originally.
I like how you always say “We” even though you do all the work. Classic group project energy
These both turned out beautifully.
the snakeskin ring turned out beautifully. both rings look great
"little sliver of metal" the snake pun was right there and you missed it. slither of metal
Love them both for sure!
I LOVE the snake skin! I now want one. Beautiful work as always.
Both of these rings are beautiful! As a snake owner I especially love the effort you put into the micarta, amazing work as always!
Both rings turned out beautiful
Love how the snake ring turned out!
I love that snakeskin ring, the final result is really beautiful.
I love that snake skin ring! It looks so beautiful !
They turned out great. Love the look of them both!
When you were using the fish gravel as weight, I thought you were making a blank for the second ring and about to fill that cube with resin too.
I like the snake skin one, has a good rock like feel to it. Great project!
I love these, truly unique!
They both turned out really cool looking.
Great job on the snakeskin micarta fangs for sharing.
Awesome work as always!
Love the snakeskin ❤
Time to dye a bunch of the skin. Different colors. Set in clear resin. Maybe a lamp shade.
It came out beautifully
That ring turned out awesome!!
I do like both rungs but the snake skin one is my favorite!
Love them both!
The snakeskin micarta looks awesome! You should definitely do some more of that!
Honestly these looks super cool! Amazing job.
SSSSSSSSSUPER job Peter! I always enjoy watching you go through the scales and not let anything constrict you along your journey. That's all I got but seriously, great job!
lol nice try. I guess making snakeskin jewelry brings out the real snakes
I liked both, but my favorite is the Crayon. Great job!
Both look really awesome
Love that snake skin ring!
Loved them both
The snake skin ring is my fav of the two! The quartz-like pattern is fascinating!
the snakeskin really looks like some kind of crystal. super cool.
Love the look of the snake skin micarta.
Wow ring kits are fabulous, I like both. ♥️
that looks amazing!!
You’ve come such a long ways, I haven’t tuned in in a while and seeing how professional this was and the explaining of the tools really seemed to polish your videos . Not that there was anything wrong with the old ones, I just really like how this one was done! Also, I love the snakeskin ring !
The snake skin ring is amazing
Snakeskin looked really cool.
You are a mad man in the best way.
You’ve scaled up in the crazy amazing things you make with what odd materials you get a hold of. I was drawn to the crayon ring the most
These are both really really cool, I enjoy watching you making cool things :)
I like them both, but the snakeskin ring is stunning!
Love the snake ring Peter.
Thank you , Peter .
🐺
I love both of them but being a snake mom of 4 I am in love with the skin ring.
Hello beautiful how are you doing hope everything is going well with you?
Love the rings! Turned out great! Love the videos :) You've inspired me to try resin work in my jewelry crafting. Thanks!
I like them both, but especially the crayons. What a fun way to elevate such a humble craft tool
The crayon looks so cool! 😎💕
the snake ring looked great
Definitely the snakeskin for a more formal occasion and the crayon ring for hitting the cub 👌 great video!
Love the snake skin one more but they both look great . Amazing project aways Peter
Both rings are cool.
I like both!
Very interesting result with both rings. The snake micarta one is my favorite, but both are very nice.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE ❤️ ❤️❤️the snake skin ring
Love the snake ring
Snakeskin, every time! Awesome video, Peter! 👍👍👍
Oooo the snake skin ring is so pretty under blacklight.
Very cool!! 👍 I like color, so the crayon is more my speed. 🌈 The snakeskin would make an incredibly awesome table top if you had more!! 🐍
The snake skin ring is really neat.
I like them both!
I enjoy the snake skin one more! Looks really cool. You're right about the marble like texture. It also reminds me of camo.
i like both and i would wear both! really great video, no disasters!
Oh no, Peter got scam cloned
You cutting the snakeskin... that's some ASMR right there!
I've got to give the edge to the crayon ring, mostly because I can see more potential for future projects in it. Also, the crayon bud vase is one of my favorite projects of yours so I'm happy to see the return of that medium.
i was super skeptical of snake skin micarta but it looks so cool!
I loved the the snake ring
Glad you worked past you apprehension of the snake skin. I prefer the snake skin ring but both look great.
Nicely done! 👏👏
I think the snake ring deserves another chance, stacking the skin "around" the ring.
The crayon ring almost looks like a galaxy. I'd like to see your attempt at a galaxy something in resin
both are cool
I liked both of them
Loved both of them ☘️👌
the snakeskin micarta is very much my sort of look - very, very pretty
