I'm fresh in to G2 and I got DESTROYED by the Expedition S.Jho. So watching something as awesome as this makes me weep knowing that I will probably never be on this level.
Despite over 450 hours on this game, I suddenly feel like a noob again. Also, could a similar time be achieved with other weapon types, or does the insect glaive give speed runners too much of an advantage over other weapons?
Theo a lot of weapons are broken but cb has access to guard points which allow you to ultra straight out of sword mode and guard points didn’t make you take sharpness or damage or stagger like normal blocking, that said I’m not saying it’s the most broken because IG gives you a free rock steady and a near adrenaline +2 boost for free upon already giving a movement speed boost but I just think this games weapon balance is a little wacky
Crafty Weasel Dunno, I can't really say much about it since I don't think much about that stuff. The only advice I could give is maybe keep track of when Jho's going apex and then try to get the red buff before it turns apex. For me, that usually happens shortly after/before the cooldown of the first Wystone's over, but that's just me and it may vary depending on your skills and how quickly you can get it out of the apex state.
Remember the Time, Worldplayer met Arch Temperet Kirin, and everyone screamed: THUNDERRESISTANCE plz give me Thunderresistance for the love of Gog, give me thunderresistance. After I met Apex Deviljho I said the same abouth Dragonresistance.

Draen Nah, I'm actually more calm when fighting against Jho than Shagaru for instance (because of all those fucking random explosions). The reason why I avoid using the forward slam on Jho is because I prefer to maintain my position so I can keep attacking its belly/legs. As far as the combo is concerned, that has something to do with the recovery animation of certain attacks. As you may know, the horizontal A attack has a very long recovery animation, which leaves me vulnerable for a longer time. Of course, i could just evade to cancel that animation, but that could also put me in a disadvantageous position, so, depending on the length of the opening provided by the monster, I chain my attacks in a way that the combo will end with an X attack which has a shorter recovery animation and thus allows me to keep my mobility.

Is there a gap between the 'Jho's hit box when he does the badge attack or does not getting hit by the attack depend on the few 0.2 seconds of invisibility during an evasion?
PancakeForge Are you talking about that bodycheck? There is actually a small gap in which you won't get hit by it (which can be seen here: ua-cam.com/video/nKEU5ShHBNE/v-deo.html) but I honestly wouldn't recommend to count on that to happen.
Well if that's the case, kudos for the constant precise evades through that small gap. And to answer your question, I was indeed referring to the bodycheck :p
I have two questions, 1. Does evading give you brief Invincibility like superman diving because i always get hit when I evade. 2. How do you flip in the air backwards and attack. It doesn't look like you pole vaulted or did you? Or is it part of a combo? You did it at 1:11 Thanks
Martarts Nation 1. Yes, the moment of invincibility is very small though, so you need precise timing for it ( or get evasion +1/2/3, which extends the amount of invincibility frames) 2. It's part of the combo, you have to press A + pull back the analogpad
I know this sounds very nitpicky of me but why did you put a tectonic gem in the IG instead of the remaining slot of the hunters arms? I personally like to use all of slots on my armor and try to make my Weapon slots clean so if I want to change weapons I don't have to regem skills.

I have a question dude, I'm playing it on the Citra emulator for PC and in the Apex lvl 140 monster missions, I notice that they have a lot more life than they seem to have in your video. I have exactly the same equipment as you and the same skills and I'm a veteran of the series so I don't play badly. The Apex 140 Zinogre cost me 48 minutes to kill and I can't kill the Deviljho at all, it has so much life that I always run out of time and I don't stop hitting it, do you know what could be the cause?
What is the use of Felvine Bomb, when I first saw you using it I thought it was a way to keep the frenzy away. However after seeing you get frenzied while still having Felvine on you makes my thought mute.

WH40KHero Wenn ich Bock auf Support habe, dann spiele ich auch gerne mal die Najarala Glefe mit dem Flottenflammer, um das Monster auch effizient KO'n zu können. Was Lieblingsglefen angeht, dürfte der vom Fatalis meine Lieblingsglefe sein (darum hat mein Charakter in der Zeichnung auch eine :3), funktioniert halt gegen jeden Drachenältesten und drachenschwache Monster, und davon gibt es im Endgame viele. Als Allzweckwaffe benutze ich auch gerne die vom roten Fatalis. Hat 'nen guten Angriff und massiv viel Bombenelement. Für Apexmonster nutze ich am liebsten die von Dalamadur. Hat massiv viel weiße Schärfe, wodurch man seltener schärfen muss und dank des ernorm hohen Angriffswerts hat es selbst mit weißer Schärfe mehr Rohangriff als die meisten anderen Glefen mit lila Schärfe.
how much more difficult is jho in apex compared to non-apex? I just finished solo leveling my guild quest to 136 with vayu sedition, and i'm getting crap times (about ~30ish minutes). Apparently he's supposed to be difficult to gun, but I don't really see it, though by comparison i'm just barely finishing within the time limit. Should I be switching to an elemental bowgun instead or a status gun?

Im Dei You have to either wait for the event quest to be released in the west (which might take a few months) or find someone who's downloaded it from the japanese server and is willing to host the quest for you.
Is there any particular reason that you used the bounding dala in this run rather than the w.fatty or kirin glaive? as far as I'm concerned deviljho is stupidly weak to thunder. But what should I know I still can't sub 10 a normal apex jho :^)

Didn't want to play that waiting game a second time though so I just downloaded some of the japanese event quests or asked a friend who got them to host them for me.

Bei Lv140 Quests gebe ich mich für gewöhnlich schon damit zufrieden, wenn ich auf unter 15 Minuten komme. Wenn mir der Run aber vom Gameplay her nicht so gut gefällt, dann nehme ich es noch mal auf trotz erreichter Zeitvorgabe. Hatte vor diesem Video z.B. schon mehrere Runs im Bereich von 11-14 Minuten gehabt, in denen Jho aber oft irgendwelchen Bullshit abgezogen hat wie z.B. kurz vorm Tod ins erste Gebiet zu wechseln anstatt schlafen zu gehen, wodurch ich 'ne Menge Zeit verloren habe weil ich ins falsche Gebiet gelaufen bin. Bei einem Run musste ich auch minutenlang ohne roten Buff kämpfen, weil der seinen behinderten Ballerinatanz gespammt hat, bis mein Drive Wystone auslief und ich so nicht mehr an den roten Buff kam.

And yet, i took almost 40 min to beat it today. And it wasn't even a Lv140 one, just a Lv136. Though, i had to admit that i play with DB which are the only weapons i'm enough confident with.
I do as well, cant even solo a lvl 136 apex jho, either too aggressive, too stupid or because my screen is cracked (skills:honed blade, razor sharp, stam recov up, bombardier. DBs lightbreak twins)

Des Weiteren hat die von Dalamadur eine abnormal hohe Menge an weißer Schärfe, wodurch man viel seltener nachschärfen muss. Da ich außerdem keinen Element-/Statusschaden anrichten kann, solange das Monster im Apexmodus ist, wähle ich lieber mehr Rohschaden als Bombenelement.

I was using a Punishing Draw GS and got the first KO; which he claimed was his. Then I obviously got the second KO and he stands there for a minute "...Fuck" Then he got carted and after the hunt, he claims that his cart shows how pro he is. And he immediately left.

It doesn't have a specific name. It's just what shows up in Athena's armor skill searcher if you're looking for HGE, tremor resist, and basic attack skills (basically your anti-jho setup). If you swap honed blade for sharpness+1 it is easier to make, for example my setup is: Ukanlos Mask X (Spirit lv2) Garuga Mail X (Spirit lv2) GX Tempest Trails - - Garuga Tassets X (Tectonic lv1) Rath Soul Greaves Z (Tectonic lv1) Spirit+3 Handicraft+5 OOO (Spirit+2, tectonic+1) Results in: HGE, Challenger+2, Critical eye+1, razor sharp, sharpness+1, tremor res.

IG isn't the best weapon for speedruns, great sword and charge blade speedruns are always faster, btw maybe you are not as good as him, weapons don't do everything dude...
Actually IG is Great for Speed Runs, its one of the Kings of Speedruns along CB and GS in MH4U. But I used best SA on Jho 140 Apex, and it took me 29 minutes and 2 carts. It could probably be alot better, but Im no pro.
No offense but being unable to kill a GQ monster in 50 minutes is kind of pathetic. You were doing something wrong, it's not the weapon. I just finished solo'ing a quest of Deviljho + Oroshi Kirin with Insect Glaive and it took me 32 minutes with 2 carts. Meanwhile online everyone dies to Oroshi so I can barely pass this quest online.. Also I solo'd 2 Apex Rajang GQ in around 40 mins with SA and also 2 carts so SA is definitely not bad at all.
watching this gave me cancer. I'm so frickin jealous but I call bullshit. My deviljho never stands in one spot for more than two seconds. I have no problems with any other monster. I feel like he has twice as much HP as every other monster and his hitboxes are ridiculous.
+Joel Deserve It's all about positioning and anticipating. Jho often combos certain attacks depending on your position, and if you know those, you can create opportunities in which you can attack it.
Let the outtakes prove a message to many. Even pros can fuck up sometimes.

Scyth Blackout I made this set exclusively for this weapon, so it doesn't really matter where I put that gem in.

Nehlis elemental LBG isn't a good idea against apex monsters in my opinion since you rely way too much on the elemental wystone.

Im Dei You have to either wait for the event quest to be released in the west (which might take a few months) or find someone who's downloaded it from the japanese server and is willing to host the quest for you.

Is there any particular reason that you used the bounding dala in this run rather than the w.fatty or kirin glaive? as far as I'm concerned deviljho is stupidly weak to thunder. But what should I know I still can't sub 10 a normal apex jho :^)

Ohhhh that makes sense. I see I didn't take into consideration that apex monsters don't take elemntal damage outside of using a wystone. iinesySankka This might take a few months until they're released over here, considering how long we had to wait for them to be released in MH4G. Didn't want to play that waiting game a second time though so I just downloaded some of the japanese event quests or asked a friend who got them to host them for me.
CantaPerMe I wouldn't know since this is the first MH game I've ever played, but I understand. I'm glad for you that you've been able to get them.

AkantoreX Infinitus von beidem etwas, wobei ich mehr zu Letzterem tendiere und die Zeit eher von sekundärer Bedeutung ist. Bei Lv140 Quests gebe ich mich für gewöhnlich schon damit zufrieden, wenn ich auf unter 15 Minuten komme. Wenn mir der Run aber vom Gameplay her nicht so gut gefällt, dann nehme ich es noch mal auf trotz erreichter Zeitvorgabe.
Hatte vor diesem Video z.B. schon mehrere Runs im Bereich von 11-14 Minuten gehabt, in denen Jho aber oft irgendwelchen Bullshit abgezogen hat wie z.B. kurz vorm Tod ins erste Gebiet zu wechseln anstatt schlafen zu gehen, wodurch ich 'ne Menge Zeit verloren habe weil ich ins falsche Gebiet gelaufen bin. Bei einem Run musste ich auch minutenlang ohne roten Buff kämpfen, weil der seinen behinderten Ballerinatanz gespammt hat, bis mein Drive Wystone auslief und ich so nicht mehr an den roten Buff kam.

And yet, i took almost 40 min to beat it today. And it wasn't even a Lv140 one, just a Lv136.
Though, i had to admit that i play with DB which are the only weapons i'm enough confident with.
I do as well, cant even solo a lvl 136 apex jho, either too aggressive, too stupid or because my screen is cracked (skills:honed blade, razor sharp, stam recov up, bombardier. DBs lightbreak twins)

Nick Boehmer Die Glefe von Dalamadur hat selbst mit weißer Schärfe 'nen höheren Rohangriff als die vom roten Fatalis mit lila Schärfe. Des Weiteren hat die von Dalamadur eine abnormal hohe Menge an weißer Schärfe, wodurch man viel seltener nachschärfen muss. Da ich außerdem keinen Element-/Statusschaden anrichten kann, solange das Monster im Apexmodus ist, wähle ich lieber mehr Rohschaden als Bombenelement.

You know, the attitude shown in the outtakes reminds me of a hunter I came across online bragging about how good his Charge Blade is.
I was using a Punishing Draw GS and got the first KO; which he claimed was his. Then I obviously got the second KO and he stands there for a minute "...Fuck" Then he got carted and after the hunt, he claims that his cart shows how pro he is. And he immediately left.

UnknownWanabe I don't have any numbers that could back it up, but from first hand experience, I'd say yes, they do get more resistant to the Wystones.

It doesn't have a specific name. It's just what shows up in Athena's armor skill searcher if you're looking for HGE, tremor resist, and basic attack skills (basically your anti-jho setup). If you swap honed blade for sharpness+1 it is easier to make, for example my setup is:
Ukanlos Mask X (Spirit lv2)
Garuga Mail X (Spirit lv2)
GX Tempest Trails - -
Garuga Tassets X (Tectonic lv1)
Rath Soul Greaves Z (Tectonic lv1)
Spirit+3 Handicraft+5 OOO (Spirit+2, tectonic+1)
Results in: HGE, Challenger+2, Critical eye+1, razor sharp, sharpness+1, tremor res.

Granted my charm is a little on the harder-to-attain side, it's a creator talisman that came from an enduring charm (regular sovereign of the sky charm farm method), not a graven charm or anything like that. My edgemaster charms aren't as OP as canta's lol. Anyway, cheers.

some weapons are really stronger than others in 4u. I tried to solo 140 apex Jho with best SA against jho and did not manage to kill him in 50 min.
IG isn't the best weapon for speedruns, great sword and charge blade speedruns are always faster, btw maybe you are not as good as him, weapons don't do everything dude...
Actually IG is Great for Speed Runs, its one of the Kings of Speedruns along CB and GS in MH4U. But I used best SA on Jho 140 Apex, and it took me 29 minutes and 2 carts. It could probably be alot better, but Im no pro.
No offense but being unable to kill a GQ monster in 50 minutes is kind of pathetic. You were doing something wrong, it's not the weapon. I just finished solo'ing a quest of Deviljho + Oroshi Kirin with Insect Glaive and it took me 32 minutes with 2 carts. Meanwhile online everyone dies to Oroshi so I can barely pass this quest online..
Also I solo'd 2 Apex Rajang GQ in around 40 mins with SA and also 2 carts so SA is definitely not bad at all.
dsr95 SA is awesome ! As long as you hit jhos stomach it pretty up there with the speedrunning tier.

watching this gave me cancer. I'm so frickin jealous but I call bullshit. My deviljho never stands in one spot for more than two seconds. I have no problems with any other monster. I feel like he has twice as much HP as every other monster and his hitboxes are ridiculous.
+Joel Deserve It's all about positioning and anticipating. Jho often combos certain attacks depending on your position, and if you know those, you can create opportunities in which you can attack it.
