If he zigzag kelbi hops, he will follow with a backhop. Most backhops will be followed by a 360 spin-to-win also. Some patterns differ between different rajangs (furious, apex) and whether they're g-rank (blanka ball attack only hits once before G rank). Since he leaves certain openings at certain times, the king of exploiting openings, the greatsword, is typically the best against him.

It comes late, but hes not very weak to Element, so fokusing on the Teo/Kushala ones, ore maybe just maybe the Raging Brachy one would probably do more damage. Lagombi is kinda weak Rawwhise.

I've given up on this quest. I must have abandoned at least 40 lv136 rajang quests today in an attempt to learn the fight and I don't see any noticeable improvement. Sometimes I go 10 minutes without taking significant damage, sometimes I cart in less than 1 min. All it takes is one hit and I'm completely lost, it's so frustrating.

+Stan Cipher Trust me, I had to practice a lot before I got this guy down like this despite having played MHFU. That being said, Rajang is still easy in 4U once you've gotten used to it.

NekoTheMHOtaku I've found that Rajang mostly only does the backhop after it does that "Kelbi" run of his. That's why you should never chase after it if you see it doing that Kelbi run.
I'm aware of that. But he, quite a lot of the time, does it randomly, and when you're the the side of him and around his legs, he often hits you if you're standing too close. In his Apex mode, he tends not to do so after the Kelbi run, which really makes it extremely random.
How long does it take to completely learn a monster like this? I've played about 300 hours of MH4U and I'd say I'm pretty decent, but I only really do group hunts and haven't tried to remember attack patterns or whatever solo.
Dan R Rajang is actually surprisingly among some of the simplest endgame monsters to learn because it has a very predictable pattern, with no fakeouts or feints in its moveset, and plenty of windup before each attack. For example, it doesn't have fakeouts like Brachydios's "lick one paw to instant punch attack", nor does it have zero-windup attacks like Teostra's or Yian Garuga's run attack. This is why LV140 Rajang is a popular choice for people grinding endgame relics. Not only does it give a very high chance of relics at the end of a quest, it's also among the easiest.
I'd rather say that it's popular because it's the one non-elder dragon that gives you the best rewards, allowing you to have a second monster in your GQ to lower both monster's HP and also makes it easier to hame because it can be trapped while monsters such as Teostra can not be trapped and only appear in single monster GQs
No rajang has some of the most atrocious and unpredictable attacks. The back dash being of them or the slide into spineroony attack thats almost unavoidable... Rajang is a rough beast to learn!

You are very good at this game. I'm kind of glad I'm not this good though. Nothing would be a real challenge, and it wouldn't be very fun. I'm also someone who dislike mixing my armor sets. I want to get good for sure, but not to be so one sided.

Spamming mount was what's made IG broken in 4u. With Rodeo God, you can basically mount a monster as soon as it gets back up after being toppled from a mount. And almost every lobby had 2 or 3 guys running star knight sets.

NekoTheMHOtaku You can still avoid getting hit by it if you make use of the invincibility frames and time your evasion roll correctly.
I am a CB user, so half the time I'd be in a locked attack frame, wherein I can't move. I also am a GP user, which is why it is incredibly annoying.
You should be aiming for the tail because it won't go into rage mode when it's tail is broken

It is fantastic, but it has flaws. Try fighting apex jho with IG, it's a huge headache.
