My dryer is coming up on 15 years now. Using this video I’ve changed the heating element (6months ago) and just now the belt. This video is super helpful and this dryer is just gonna keep on rolling. Thanks!
Just changed my heating element and this video absolutely made it a breeze. 13 year old dryer and first time I’ve had to do anything to it. Thanks a ton!
While I have a later generation dryer (2016), Samsung has kept the design almost exactly the same. The belt tensioning idler arm on mine self-destructed. I took the dryer apart before watching your video, but had no idea how the belt should be routed when it came time to reassemble. Your video helped me avoid the expense (and embarrassment) of having to call for professional repair after getting so far on my own. Note to those seeking parts: I found the exploded parts diagrams on the SearsPartsDirect website. Would have ordered everything I needed from them, but was dumbfounded to see the idler arm could not be ordered. Armed with part numbers and names, a search on Amazon resulted in multiple suppliers offering various repair parts packages. I settled on one that had the OEM idler arm assembly plus an OEM replacement belt. A week and $20 in parts later, my wife and I put our dryer back together again. Thanks Bill!!
Replaced my heating coil today. My dryer wasn't heating so I put my multimeter on it and it didn't read any ohms so i took it out and saw the break in it. I got a new one and was able to replace it with the help of this video. Thanks for posting! Saved me alot of money!
I just wanted to comment and say thank you so much for this video and the other troubleshooting video. I was able to, very quicky, diagnose the issue with my dryer based off the information you shared. Based on not having any error messages and the motor still spinning the drum, my dryer heating element went out. A quick test of the element confirmed and once I got the element out of the housing you could clearly see the break and the coil. I got my new element back in and my dryer all back together and maybe 30 to 40 minutes tops. I did spend a little extra time vacuuming and wiping down as much of the services as I could to help the dryer perform at its best again. I was honestly pretty surprised at how easily the dryer came apart. It's nice when things are designed with some serviceability in mind. So, a $20 part and myabe 1hr of my time, including me cleaning/vacuuming everything thuroughly, and our dryer is working better than ever!
Ice owned this dryer for 8 years now and have to take it apart at least 10 times. what a pos knowing how to take it apart is very important thanks for your helpful video
Thank you for posting the video on the troubleshooting and disassembling the Samsung dryer. I had a bad heater coil, and the job was made 100 times easier with the videos! Thank you!!
Great job man! One quick suggestion is to voice over your videos. Explain what part it is that you are disconnection or what it's function is, because I think most people will find that helpful. Very helpful though!
3ark1ll Studios Thanks for the Suggestion! I have actually tried that with my more recent videos. I'm slowly getting better at the editing part. slowly. lol Thanks for the comment!
Thanks a lot for the great video. I followed your instruction in testing 240v and thermostat. Then I removed front door without moving the tube. I was able to get the heating element unit out. The element was burned out. It cost 18$ to get one from ebay and got it replaced. Eric Chen
Wow, this series of videos are awesome! Last night our dryer crapped out right in the middle of a load and I thought - here we go - let the nightmare begin... You really take your washer and dryer for granted until all of the sudden you don’t have it and then it’s panic city! Anyway, thanks to your very detailed instructions I was able to determine that it was a broken belt and seized up idler pulley. A quick trip to the local parts store and for $40. I had it back up and running great. The idler pulley must have been seized up for quite a while too. The belt actually ate halfway through the pulley before it broke. I had a photo of it, but it looks like I can’t add it to my comments. Anyway, thanks again for saving me a huge headache and lots of $$$$.
First, I would like to say that your videos are very informative and also your videos flow easily and the visuals provide the most of the information. The bonus is the fact that you provide the readings for each part and that helps greatly identifying the faulty part with ease and confidence. I do have the exact dryer on your videos but mine is branded as Kenmore Elite. Changed the heating element once and all was well until about few months that the dryer starts drying but after a while, it turns itself off. Initially I was able to power it back on and continue the drying cycle fine. But the last 2 months the problem has become worst, as now the dryer will start drying and about 10 seconds, to a minute, will power itself off. Some times it will power off right after I turn it on even before I press start. With the heating element I also effaced all sensors in the past as I got a kit from the store. This issue has literally caused me to lose sleep as I cannot identify the issue, save taking the entire until apart and then go item by item until I find what causes this. Want to check everything before I replace the board as here in toronto is 700.00 Canadian. Any wisdom.you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work you do with your videos.
Thanks for this video. I just had to disassemble a dryer and this was very useful. Not the exact model but very similar and I was able to follow your step by step.
Lots of steps but still pretty simple if you take your time and organize all the screws you take out so you don't forget any. Yes, i've on occasion have had extra screws when I was done. lol Thanks for Watching!
Glad I found your channel sir, just graduated appliance repair school here in Boston. Your channel is now another asset for my toolbox, great vids Thanks
Just used this wonderful video to take my dryer apart. Last time we replace the heater we did it some ghetto way thru the back. It was a major pain. This was 10 minutes of easy simple work. Thank you sooooo much for posting this.
Bill - Thanks for your reply. I was doing some further research and found a DIY Not article that described how this guy took his dryer apart with the service manual, couldn't use the Whirlpool kit that he had purchased and put together his own kit from Home Depot. After all of that a couple people commented that it can be done from the back of the dryer. That is good to know because the instructions that come with the kit say to use the service manual to disassemble the dryer!!! I would like to avoid that if possible. I will give the back access hole a try. Thanks again.
+brian ermeling You should be good doing it from the back of the dryer, I had my arm, light and a camera in that hole. lol The vent pipe that comes out the back has one screw half-way back that secures it in place, remove that screw and twist the pipe to remove it from the blower housing. Without some sort of kit, you could probably cut the pipe in half, throw a 90 degree coupler on it, add a piece to send it out the side. Just tape the joints. I haven't looked at the kit, so I don't know what comes with it. If I had to do it at my house, the pipe would be cut. lol Let me know how you make out!
Thanks Bill! I had a model that was pretty close - the steps were the same. A sock got sucked down the lint filter and into the fan causing it all to lock up. Saved me a service call!
This is an excellent video with easy to follow steps. Can't thank you enough. You just saved me a bunch of money plus the satisfaction of fixing the dryer myself.
I'm about to begin disassembly of this pretty much same dryer in order to begin diagnostics using another one of your videos. Can you please give us an idea as to the cost of the main circuit board that you will test where the relay is for the start circuit, as well as the motor, as well as the belt breaks which, as well as the thermal switch??? So that I know whether I want to put the necessary repairs at this dryer or depending on what the results of the diagnosis is toss it out and move on to another unit!?! Thanks in advance.
Great video. Made my life a lot easier. Samsung does not make it easy to access parts. My only suggestion would be to show the pieces going back together. By the time I took it apart, tested the parts, got a replacement and went to put it back together again, I'd half forgotten the order. I basically watched it backwards to make sure I wasn't missing any screws or quick connects.
my drier stopped heating, taking it apart to test element and thermal fuse and high limit switch. thanks for the instructional video, it helped greatly!!e
This is awesome. My Samsung DV393ETPAWR/A1 is making horrible squealing noises. I look at the other video on fixing squealing. I assume that most Samsungs are assembled in a similar way do that this video for disassembly applies to my dryer as well?
Hey Bill, great video. I already had to take one of these apart but for some reason I think I separated the blower cover from the front, which I see now was totally unnecessary. Thanks and one of these days I hope you put some Subzero fridge stuff on here.
Thank you for your video; I diagnosed and replaced my heating element. I put everything back together, and now it won't power on. Do you have any suggestions? I took it all apart and put it back together again, just to make sure I didn't forget to plug anything in, I also unplugged and re-plugged every connection just to make sure they were seated well. The dryer ran but didn't heat before I took it apart. I appreciate any help you can provide.
Really appreciate the video. My thermal fuse went bad and was able to get the part for 15 bucks locally. Anyway I have a another issue. I live in a condo and dryer is in garage on a common wall so the air outlet ducting goes under my house all the way to the back of house which is over 50 ft. If it was electric I could just have blow in garage. Is the run too long or is there something else I can do?
Thank you very much for the videos you post. I have a Smasung gas dryer Model DV336AGG/XAA. Got it used from a friend and Installed with brand new gas dryer installation kit. There are no leaks at the connectors. Still I smell Gas. Dryer has not been turned on yet. It works for sure. I was told there is an electronics gas valve inside the dryer. Any idea where to look???
Hi Bill - I have a Samsung gas dryer similar to the one in your video. It does not get extremely hot and takes forever to dry clothes. I took off the front cover and found some lint where it shouldn't be but not a ton. I want to clean out behind the exhaust fan but could not remove it. Any tricks? Any thoughts why the dryer does not get very hot?
Bill, Great vid. Question. Our Samsung dryer runs great for about 15-20 min, than begins to squeak loadly. It always seems to take that long before squeaking. Can you advise what may be causing the squeaking or why it takes 15-20 min before beginning?
Great video! I'm fairly certain my motor capacitor is blown (if I kickstart it, it runs just fine - no kickstart I just hear electrical noise with no movement). Where is the motor capacitor on these guys? Is it down by the motor? I didn't see it near the control board you disassembled. Thanks again for this video, it's a huge help.
Thank You so much. I was able to change the front two wheels on my dryer by myself. It was under warranty and I watched the repairman do the similar thing to take apart the dryer. Is it possible to reach the relay wheel without going in the back of the dryer? TO release the belt and then change the relay? Also Is if okay that I changed the front two wheels and not the back two, since I dont have a power drill and the back screws are like bolted on too tight? I dont want to strip them. ANyway THANKs so much you have saved me lots of money as My warranty is expired and I dont have hundreds of dollars to pay the repair guy to come out twice to put the parts in. Thats right. they come first to diagnose and order parts, and charge you . COme back take it apart again and put parts back in place. They charge me over $165 each time.
Hi Bill - I installed the side vent on one of the two dryers that I have to do this weekend and it went "OK". I did it through the back hole, but it might have been easier taking the dryer apart?? The problems that I had were the following: 1) that small flap in the bottom that you are supposed to bend up to a 90 degree angle was there and I bent it up. It had a small slit in it to catch the metal clip on the new piece of duct coming back from the blower, but it was farther toward the front of the machine than the metal clip on the duct was so they didn't line up and couldn't connect together. The intent was to keep the duct from moving toward the back of the machine and coming out of the blower. To accomplish that I used metal tape to tape over the duct and secure it to the bottom of the machine, 2) the elbow was larger than the back hole or the new side hole in the case, so it was impossible to get inside the machine without grinding the side hole a little larger. I wouldn't enlarge the back hole because it has a bend that would make it more difficult and then if larger wouldn't hold the new piece they supply to close it, and 3) It is almost impossible to take those 2 joints once the connections are all in place. The space between the bottom of the new duct and the bottom of the machine isn't large enough to get your hand and that VERY sticky metal tape through it. The next dryer I am going to assemble the 3 pieces of duct and bring each joint to the back opening and tape it before assembling it to the blower and out the side hole. Just my thoughts, but thanks for the idea of using the existing duct holes to accomplish this without disassembly of the machine. Have a great day. Brian
+brian ermeling Thanks for the info! You must have the greatest patience, way to go. I never thought of the elbow not fitting into the back. Thanks for sharing!
Hello Bill, thanks for this video, I have the same dryer- Question: where can i buy parts for this dryer? such as the Felt seal and rollers. Thanks in advance.
Thanks for your videos. Could you show how to take the heating element on a samsung dryer out n disassemble it please. I tested it and the element needs replacing. Thanks
Great video, thanks. I have a DV220AGW/XAA that seemed real similar to the one you took apart here that i need to do a natural gas to LP conversion, will you be doing a video of this nature in the future?
Hi Bill - I'm troubleshooting heating problems with my Samsung dryer (using the process from your other video in this series), but having trouble getting the thing apart. At 3:54, you pull some screws from the face of the unit - on mine, they are extremely tight, and I'm having trouble cracking them loose with my screwdriver. Any tips on loosening them? I'm afraid I might strip the screw heads. Localized heat, perhaps, or something like pb blaster? Thanks!
hi! and congratulation for all your video.. , i have a issue with the SAmsung dryer.. il goes on for 5 seconde and stop , do you have any clue fot me? thx in advance ..

Cecil Jacobs how did you get the dryer switch wire out? I’m having trouble pulling it out. I have a 2016 dv45k6500ev model.
Wow, an entire parts kit was $33. I swapped out everything and did it with your videos. Thank you so much, you saved me hundreds!
Replaced my heating coil today. My dryer wasn't heating so I put my multimeter on it and it didn't read any ohms so i took it out and saw the break in it. I got a new one and was able to replace it with the help of this video. Thanks for posting! Saved me alot of money!
Thank you Mr Newberry. You saved my mom a bunch of money. I pray that your mom is blessed 10 fold. Liked subscribed.
Just wanna say, 7 years later I used this to fix my heating element on my 11 year old Samsung dryer. Thank you!
My dryer just quitted heating, your channel just showed up in search for rescuing. How convenient? Awesome! Two thumbs up!
Now we need a video on. putting it back together without left over parts
Thanks for this good video
Yep.....

This is my exact dryer. You’ve been very helpful. I just replace the thermal cut off switch. Thank you for your help.

Sounds like a sensor/keyboard problem
Quite handy, now I just gotta get a new heating element, sigh... Thanks Bill, your videos are great!
Thanks for this video. I just had to disassemble a dryer and this was very useful. Not the exact model but very similar and I was able to follow your step by step.

I read in another video that Bill passed away in 2016 😥 amazing how his efforts are helping people years later
Hey Bill! I just wanted to thank you for your series on the Samsung dryer. You have taught me much and saved me more!!

Thanks Bill! I had a model that was pretty close - the steps were the same. A sock got sucked down the lint filter and into the fan causing it all to lock up. Saved me a service call!
Great video Bill! I am on a very tight budget and your videos saved me big $$. Good details and easy to follow. Thanks!!
Thank you for taking the time to show this process. Semper Fi...
thanks for the money shot at 7:38 I never would've figured out the winding when reassembling.
Great video Bill . i am mechanically inclined but the proper procedure was much needed. I will be subscribing. Thanks again
Video is very clear and well made. Very detailed. Thank you.
Fantastic series of videos, Bill Newberry! Thanks!
Thank you for your service Marine. Thank you for the vids I am having heating issues with mine as I text.
Awesome. Thank you. I am going to take mine apart today, since I think I have lint buildup inside the housing next to the blower fan.
This is an excellent video with easy to follow steps. Can't thank you enough. You just saved me a bunch of money plus the satisfaction of fixing the dryer myself.
Great video, helped me fix my brand new Heat Pump Dryer after cocking up the door opening change! Went from zero to hero in minutes!

Semper Fi Bill! Thanks for the awesome videos, just saved my wife and I a ton of money!
yes your video was clear to understand. Thank you for your efforts.
I'm about to begin disassembly of this pretty much same dryer in order to begin diagnostics using another one of your videos. Outstanding videos. I’d be up a creek without them. Thank you!!
Great video Bill, once I get down to the motor how do I test to see if the motor is bad? Thank you

Great video. I followed you and found a penty stuck in the blower blocking the drier to rotate. Thanks.
Great video, Bill - much appreciated. Can’t seem to locate the video you referenced for re-assembly, however. Can you point me to it?
Thanks this made my job changing the drum so easy
This is awesome. My Samsung DV393ETPAWR/A1 is making horrible squealing noises. I look at the other video on fixing squealing. I assume that most Samsungs are assembled in a similar way do that this video for disassembly applies to my dryer as well?
Bill was a great guy
Hey Bill, great video. I already had to take one of these apart but for some reason I think I separated the blower cover from the front, which I see now was totally unnecessary. Thanks and one of these days I hope you put some Subzero fridge stuff on here.
ah, just a few extra screws and 5 minutes or so. lol Thanks for Watching!
I appreciate any help you can provide.
great tutorial Bill not like the older models where you just take off the back casing lol
Do you have anything on disassembly of samsung dryer regular style? Your help is appreciated
This was an awesome video. Very easy and step by step. Great job!!!!
Thanks for the great vid! Saved me a lot of time, and no spare parts once I put it back together. Thanks!
Thank you very much for the videos you post. I have a Smasung gas dryer Model DV336AGG/XAA. Got it used from a friend and Installed with brand new gas dryer installation kit. Bill, this was a great disassembly video!

Thank You and Thanks for Watching!
Hi Bill - I have a Samsung gas dryer similar to the one in your video. It does not get extremely hot and takes forever to dry clothes. You saved me a lot of money. Thanks a lot.
You just saved me 300$ THANK YOU SO MUCH
Thank you great job
We appreciate your help
Good video! I wish I would have watched this before I took mine apart

Very excellent video!
Really nice job on video.

Thanks!
