Most welcome. Thanks for commenting
Finally a knife that's thin enough to be called a knife and not a sharpened prybar
Right on. Thanks for commenting
Mora 2000/Kansbol??
@@jelkel25 The fact both the knives you took as an example come from the same company kinda makes my point for me. Also Mora isn't free of sin as well, I have the Garberg, it's so thick and the blade so narrow that the angle is more like a wedge than anything else. Goes to show why the regular thin companion in carbon steel is still my personal favourite knife in my collection
I already own this knife, and I love it. But I just wanted to comment on what a good review this was. I watch a lot of gear review channels, and right now, no one is doing it better than Mark Young.
I really appreciate the kind words!
I've been very happy with all the BPS knives I've purchased.
Right on. Same here. Thanks for commenting
The sheath turned out great! Awesome video, thank for sharing.
Most welcome. The sheath mod was easy to do. Thanks for commenting
Nice little knife indeed. Really like that it's full tang. I've had to take a break from spoon carving as my inventory has about reached capacity. I've sold a few at markets, but I can carve way more spoons than I can sell haha. Thanks for sharing Mark.
LOL...I have a box of spoons as well. I have not tried selling any but occasionally give them away. I miss just sitting and carving. Time to get to it. Thanks for commenting Steve
That looks like a dandy little knife, thanks for sharing. I like your idea to round off the top part of the blade, but leave the bottom part sharp for throwing sparks. 👍Take care my friend and Cheers!
Hi Dave. This is a great little knife for sure. Perfect for carving with. Thanks for commenting
I have been eyeing this knife for some time now, thank you for the review!
It's a great little knife for sure. Thanks for commenting
Mark, that's a very good improvement you described for the sheath. Thank you for the detailed description. I think I'll use that for mine. 🍵🙂👍🏻
Easy enough to do and makes a huge difference. Thanks for commenting
Great review Mark ! The late great Mors Kochanski would be smiling about this knife !
I was thinking that while I was testing it. Thanks for commenting
I have this knife and really like it. I have no issues with the sheath as it is. It has a beautiful feel to it. I have no concerns about it, as I don't sheath the knife with a blind one-handed stab. It lives in the knife pocket of my pants and I sheath and unsheath the knife with both hands.
I don't like the Allen screws on the handles of BPS knives aesthetically-- but I find them practical when removing the scales to force patina the blades. (Which I have done on my other three BPS knives, as a rust inhibitor).
I've made a number of spoons and a couple of Kuksa, so I know carving and can confirm that this is a good carving tool

I'm debating getting this knife. Have tonnes of smaller fixed blades but also use them a lot. It is a nice looking knife.
If it helps, it is a bit smaller than a Mora Clipper but is full tang and very fun to carve with. Thanks for commenting
As always, a good, practical review.
Thank you.
I'm glad you found it helpful. Thanks for commenting
Very decent little knife and a great mod as well!
It is a great small knife for sure. Thanks for commenting Wade
Very good review, Mark. It’s good to see someone point out that limitations and purpose come with each knife design. Good modification on the sheath. Turned out well. Have a great weekend!
Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for commenting Dave
Wonderful that Ukrainians could produce such knife while that horrible war is going on.
I have 2 things that my grandfather carved in wartime, given to me by my mother. He was a great family guy.
Great keepsakes for sure. Thanks for commenting
Apparently the ukranian war is not that horrible unless you're an ukranian male (un)fit for military service and at the front line....
Ive had one for 3 or 4 months now and it has done everything i have asked of it. It also takes a great edge and holds it relatively well for 1066
Right on. Goof to hear. Thanks for commenting
Great Review, ty for sharing
I'm glad you found it helpful. Thanks for commenting
Great review, thanks for your time. Wow great price
Glad you found it helpful! Thanks for commenting
I definitely have to get this knife. I already have some of their products. This will definitely fit in for carving for me. I’m a newbie to that. Also, I love how you did the sheath. thanks for the video always good info.
Where did you get them? Direct from the company, or Amazon or something? I’m worried about crazy shipping costs.
@ it was quite a few years ago. I bought the first one from Ukraine I believe it took over a month to get here didn’t sell anywhere else at the time in the states anyway It’s a 3.5 inch blade with a wood handle no screws or anything fully enclosed with the handle. I think I paid $15 shipping was very little. The next one I bought the same one on Amazon for around $16 at the time that one was the same way fully enclosed grip
@ Thanks. I’ll try to see if Amazon Canada sells them. The price is great, but I’m not interested in dealing directly with Ukraine, and waiting a month for a cheap knife.
@ I believe they were at least three dollars cheaper getting them from Ukraine. I didn’t check, but it probably wouldn’t be much shipping at all if any.
@ Maybe I’ll look into it, because I'm not having much luck finding it in a Canadian store.
Nice looking Finn knife.
It's a great little knife. Thanks for commenting
Good review Mark, thanks for sharing, YAH bless !
Glad you found it helpful, thanks for watching Michael
Thanks for the review. It’s an interesting little knife 👍
Great small knife for sure. Thanks for commenting Alex
I like it.

That looks like a great knife for use around camp. I wonder if they make it in a full flat grind? I’d like it a lot better for camp kitchen use equipped like that. Like you said, I wouldn’t be using a knife like this for any heavy cutting.
Nice job on the sheath!
I agree, a small flat grind knife is great for food prep. Thanks for commenting
Nice knife
It's a great little knife.Thanks for commenting
Looks comfortable (ergo), pretty and functional. Very nice!
too bad about the sheeth, but nice fix ;)
As always greetz from the Netherlands
Great little knife. Sheath could be better but easy enough to correct. Thanks for commenting
Thank you for the review. This is going to be the first BPS I try out. I was curious about your wool jacket; have you reviewed this?
My jacket is a Canadian Army surplus wool shirt/jacket. I found two in thrifts stores. They are still available on surplus sites. Thanks for commenting
It doesn't excel with carving dry hardwoods.
They make good tools for greener softwoods.
This has been my experience.
Unrelated question - What is that awesome looking shacket thing you're wearing?
I agree, it's better suited to softwoods or green wood. Of course, even my Mora carving knife will dull quickly in dry hardwoods. This is my Canadian Army wool shirt/jacket. Still available as surplus. Thanks for commenting.
@@MarkYoungBushcraft - Thanks for posting.
You offer good content.
Just because it won’t ever be the best spoon doesn’t mean it can’t be a damn fine spatula
Good point. Maybe I should have kept it. I was disappointed in it from the start. I need to making more spoons and spatulas. Thanks for commenting
As soon as I saw Finn lite, I thought about my Cold Steel puukko style Finn Bear. Great job on the sheath. I have a lot of old school style of pocket folding knives, are there any of those styles of knives you like? ✌️🇺🇸🇨🇦✌️
I have been looking at buying the Finn Bear to test. Thanks for commenting
How many Oz of beeswax do you estimate the sheath takes Mark? Thx ❤
I had to think about that. I expect the sheath soaked up 2 or 3 ounces of beeswax. I mixed a quantity and then let what I didn't use harden up to use again later. Thanks for commenting
Morning Mark. That is a pretty little knife, and super affordable. I think I may actually pick one up for the summer. Not sure about the handle though, because I broke the bone in my hand where the pinky attaches, and the head of the bone didn’t heal properly so I can only close that finger about half way. Makes gripping small handles a little tougher. Those odd Grohman handles actually work well for me btw.
Do you know if there is a retailer here, or does it come from Europe, and if so, would the shipping end up being more than the knife?
As for the spine btw, for sure it would be uncomfortable, but have you ever used a scraper for taking out scratches, smoothing wood? If it can do that, then it would be very handy to maintain at least pert of it.
Last thing, could you send me your email address one more time? I got too busy and distracted with all that was going on, and forgot, and now I have no idea which video it was in.
Hey Jim. I believe you can buy them on Amazon as well as their website. I am guessing they use Amazon as a Canadian warehouse. I have a set of cabinet scrapers from Lee Valley that I use (not much lately) for spoon carving. Work great but need to have their edges squared often for best performance. My email is "mark.eric.young@gmail.com" I look forward to hearing from you
