Man those mustangs sounded like the 60s starters! That is awesome. I guess they’re just sped up from what they used to be, and when they’re cold, they are slowed down like the old ones
I have my gripes about modern diesels with their complicated emissions and DEF systems but one thing is for sure. They start without issue in the cold.
The 7.3 starts pretty well in the cold too, but I can't speak for anything else. Seen a few -60F cold start videos and while they are rough, overall it's not bad considering how freaking cold it is haha.
We will have a new F-750 review coming out shortly but in the meantime we do have a bunch of medium-duty truck reviews on our channel! Feel free to check them out!
I know on my 2014 energi, if the 12 volt battery is low, the engine wont start. I couldn't take it to work one day because even though the car was "on" I couldn't shift from park. Headlights would come on for about 5 seconds and shut back off... it was very odd
No surprise on new vehicles that cost over $60k. My 2011 Expedition with 250k miles will always start regardless of the arctic winters I get here. A well made and serviced battery and a good jumper pack just in case is all you need. Nothing mechanical will hinder in the start up once you have a good charged battery and a properly maintained vehicle. Driving it easy after a couple minutes of startup actually heats up the vehicle better and helps everything get lubicated and warmed up if necessary. Long idles do little to achieve this and actually add unnecessary wear. My advice is start it up and drive away after a couple minutes and then drive gently until the temperature guage for your coolant is at proper operating temperature.
Hello there, could I use fragments of your video for my coldstarting compilation? Of course I will put a link to your original video in the description, increasing the original’s popularity too. Thanks a lot for you answer in advance :)

They've definitely come a long way!

Wind Chill does not effect cars! its only a rating for the speed skin freezes. its only -23 C or about -5F

Would have love to seen some 4 cyl engines cold start, see how well they do.
For next time!
Should start easier in all honesty

Hi! You are free to use part of the video per your request! A link to our original video will be necessary though. Thanks for reaching out!
You guys need to do a much better job of keeping the fuel in all your vehicles in that cold weather you can easily ruin a fuel pump
Having a diesel that is low on fuel is not alright
These trucks arrive with low fuel already. We always ensure they are filled shortly after they arrive so we do not have any issues.
