Great stadium vlog as always! 12th Liked 👍 The UBS Arena looks a lot nicer than Nassau Coliseum. I have been to the Coliseum a few times during the 1980's I have no problem parking and driving there from New Jersey. Thanks for showing the shootout! Looks like you saw a great game there. Take care and peace out✌️ 😎👍

Long Island has the perfect blend of transit and drivability in my experience! Definitely a great arena and cool experience! Thanks for the comment as always!

I watched your Madison Square Garden video first since my hometown team is the Rangers, but plan to comment on it after this one on UBS Arena.
Unfortunately I have not gone to an Islanders home game there yet, but went to UBS Arena for the first time back on September 20th for an Eagles concert. Definitely liked the acoustics of the building as I know the Oak View Group focused on two priorities when it was built... optimal for hockey and concerts. Hopefully sooner than later, I can make it there from Philadelphia for a game regardless of my hatred for the Islanders.
Personally, I wish the original plan for the Lighthouse Project back in 2011 had gone through, but it was derailed by Town of Hempstead supervisor Kate Murray. Nassau Coliseum was in her town jurisdiction. She was a villain to Islanders fans for her opposition to the project. And then when the Islanders tried to get public help to build a new arena next to where the Coliseum still stands, it was rejected by the voters and led to former owner Charles Wang's ill-fated move to the Barclays Center. I never have been to a game in that building in Brooklyn either. And look at how long it took to finally end up at Belmont Park.
Just from my concert experience alone, I liked what UBS Arena offers. Light years better than Nassau Coliseum ever was. Much better sightlines, the way the seating bowl was built was to re-create an intimidating atmosphere for opponents like the Coliseum was. Deliberately had more seats for the lower bowl than up in the upper level. Where the atrium is more impressive than the Garden is the larger space and how it dedicates it to landmarks throughout the metropolitan area. My biggest beef with the team is that including their in-arena promo videos, they desperately try to connect themselves with the city when the Islanders are in fact a Long Island team. I do like the deliberate similar atrium setup to Citi Field's Jackie Robinson Rotunda.
What also is better right now at UBS Arena than the Garden is the wider concourses. That is a big plus. Nice job on the decor and the areas dedicated to the team history so you know where you are, the Islanders home arena. The food options I agree with you are great. I had a cheeseburger at the concert and man was it good. Not as much for the chicken fingers. I did not go into the Islanders team store, but even from passing by it, it looked impressive.
Lastly, while I would have preferred they would have built their new arena next to where they used to play and then tear down Nassau Coliseum, ending up at Belmont Park was their best decision with the cards the Islanders were dealt. Eventually will be most accessible by LIRR trains both directions. Belmont Park literally sits on the Nassau County side of the border from the New York City borough of Queens and is separated by the Cross Island Parkway. The traffic in the area is horrendous because that highway is over capacity traffic wise. But a good amount of parking helps despite having to walk around the west end of the racetrack to get to the arena.
Sorry for the long comment, but this new subscriber thanks you for your video.

I appreciate this comment! You have some great points, you definitely have to make it to a game! Definitely gave me a history lesson surrounding the arena history of the islanders. Cheers!

@@garrettstadiumtravel You're most welcome! I will get to the Madison Square Garden video next. I will visit UBS Arena soon, just a matter of planning. I will tell ya I looked into the first ever Rangers/Islanders game in that building in October 2021 and the "nosebleed" seats were $96! So I passed on it because between that, parking and gas for the round trip drive. I swear I thought the game was at the Garden with that price. I have to check your video library to see if you already have been here in Philly.

How did you get to UBS Arena? The last time I went I had to take the LIRR and then Uber to the stadium

There are trains that stop at the Elmont-UBS Arena Station (5-10 minute walk from the arena). Port Jefferson Branch, Ronkonkoma Branch from both Penn Station and Grand Central and the Hempstead Branch from Grand Central exclusively. In NYC Google Maps is your best friend, that’s what I used to navigate for the most part! Hope this helps!

@@BrycenNHL25 you're all good! Gretzky had 1,016 goals including regular season and playoffs. He had 894 in regular season play, that's the mark that Ovi is chasing so I can see where the confusion comes from. hope this helps!
