  • Around 1:50 PM 2/12/21 Tones went out for a fire alarm at 11 Morongo Ct. In Berkeley Township. Soon after a second dispatch went out for a possible working fire, Manitou Park Fire Company was first on scene and quickly started to attack the fire, by stretching the main supply line along with a master spray from the ladder truck. Bayville and Toms River Stations 25.26 were called for mutual aid with their FAST Teams. The fire is currently under infestation by the Ocean County Fire Marshal's Office. @@DC-ih8bv There are 3 rules which most fire departments use around the world which are sometimes worded differently but have the same meaning .
      We use these.
      1. We will risk a lot in a calculated manner to save life.
      2. We will risk ourselves a little in a calculated manner to save , saveable property.
      3. We will not risk ourselves at all for property that is lost.
Maybe going back a few decades people thought it was acceptable for firefighters to get killed just saving a building but not in 2021.
I love nothing more than good offensive firefighting and getting inside and knocking a fire down but there is no justification in getting someone killed when the building is as good as destroyed and can be replaced.

A ladder nozzle for a ranch house. "Boys and their toys." No Line of Sight on the burning material. Just one spot on the floor.
0:28 Lawn Statues dressed like your Heroes.
0:45 Can the nozzle operator SEE where the water is going and what it is accomplishing?
1:30 As I thought. They are waiting for the fire to come to them.
All they had to do is open a small hole in the ceiling and insert a nozzle opened to a medium cone of water and the fire would have been knocked down. Then you open more holes to wet down the entire attic.

I question the logic of pouring water on the roof for it to just run off. Why wasn't there more effort to get the hose into a hole made in the attic? The fire is inside not on the roof. Plus, I understand that the owner's dog died in the fire.
Was there any effort made to save the dog? Or,was the thinking, "Oh, it's just a dog. He can get a new one."?
