    East coast isn't a mess to drive in, you just got to know how to drive in it, any opening you you see in a congested area you gain access to it swiftly, quickly an safely, been driving on the east coast for 40 years accident free.

    Keep up the good work! First time viewing video and watched all the way to the end because of your commentary. I grew up in Towson, Maryland just off I-83 & I-695 (Baltimore Beltway). Live in Boston, Massachusetts metro west suburbs near I-495 (north/south) near Rte 2 (east/west). Enjoyed your perspective on where you are driving (know very well the I-95 corridor in Philadelphia and went to college in the early 1990s near Pittsburgh and stayed near St. Louis along I-64 Foresf Park on July 22, 2020) and enjoyed hearing the topics shared about the trucking profession. (Didn't know how the business worked behind the scenes such as brokers, dispatchers, how dependent you are on delivery times, and liked how individuals can help the driver such as unloading earlier at "Ma & Pop" places if possible.) Your commentary ooened my eyes about topics related to your job. Your video made me appreciate the trucking profession much more that I already did. Stay safe out there on the roads!

    When I drove my favorite time was at night when I’d get where I was goin and hanging out in my truck/sleeper I had everything I needed...there wasn’t any computers back then and a small TV was huge nothing like the slim flat screens now and I had me a small refrigerator in there. A 5 gallon bucket...that was very important!! And love when you sit in your sleeper and talk to us!! Keep up the good work and thank you for taking us along with you!! May God bless you and keep you safe through these bad times!!!!!

    Gliders are the way to go right now as long as you don't need to run California.
    On the other hand, I ordered my Classic brand new and took delivery in mid 2005. I ran it up to about 990k miles on just regular maintenance and PMs. Even though it was still a strong truck at that mileage, I took the entire summer of 2015 off to have the engine, trans, both rears and the front end completely gone through by a professional shop, along with some interior and lighting upgrades. It cost me about $50k but when finished, I basically had a brand new tractor again. That would be tough to do with a new one just because of all the emissions equipment on them. The best part though was that I got to spend the whole summer with my family and friends! California won't let me in because my tractor doesn't have a DPF or use DEF but I don't care. I don't need to run California to make money. Then again, I avoid running the Eastern Seaboard too. I'll do it if I HAVE to but, I prefer running the Midwest and South.
    Also, about 1/2 way through the video, when you made that left turn...that's EXACTLY what you should do when you have multiple left turn lanes. If you would've tried to turn from the other (inside) lane, traffic would've come up on your blind side. Then, you would've either been stuck or, taken a chance of causing an accident.

    Your were in my hometown of Philly! It is a bear driving a car around town let alone a big rig especially around rush hour...4 wheelers give you no mercy! Also, next time your in South Philly a good place to get a real cheesesteak is Tony Luke's which is located on Oregon Ave right off of Front St. Your were about a mile away from the place when you saw that first cop that had the truck pulled over and you got to next light with homeless guy. At that light which is Front St, make a left and go about a mile to Oregon Ave and make a right and Tony Luke's is on left under the underpass! Still love the videos stay safe out there!

    The first tractor I bought (and still own) was a 1995 Freightliner FLD120 with a Cummins M11 Celect Plus. It was rated at 370hp/1850tq. It has a Super 10 trans and 3.73 rear end ratio. I later bought a 2001 FLD120 with a Series 60 (12.7L) Detroit, rated at 500hp/1850tq, Super 10 top 2 trans and 3.73 rears. While the Detroit would out run the Cummins on flat ground, that little Cummins would pull the Detroit up ANY hill. The reason is the power curve. In my experience, Cummins engines reach max torque at a lower rpm than Detroits. Torque is what gets things moving. Horsepower keeps things moving. When you run hills, you lose rpm so torque takes over again. Gear ratios can make or break your drivetrain combination too. Cat hasn't built on road engines for 10-12 years so your choices are basically limited to Detroit, Cummins, Volvo (for their tractors) and Paccar (for KW and Peterbilt). My only experience is with Detroit an Cummins so I can't comment on the others.

    • @sdudley11

      mike brown cat stop making on road engine in 2010 due to they didn't want to invest all the money into there emissions on there engines to meet the EPA restrictions, but the last great engine they ever made was the c15 6nz motor after that they went to being the worst engine next to the Detroit's engines. It sucks at one time cat had about 40% of the heavy duty Diesel on highway market.

      @MikeBrown-ii3pt 4 роки тому

      @@otrookie The Series 60 (as well as all other big diesels) torque ratings vary depending on how they're spec'd. The Series 60 was available in several displacements, 11.1L, 12.7L and 14L with torque ratings from 1100 to 2050. I assume that only the 14L could produce 2050. The one in your Classic might well be rated at 1650. Then again, the old girl has probably put quite a few miles behind her so I'd guess she's getting a little tired. I do know that the Series 60 was always tough to beat for fuel economy.
