you need to upgrade pipes like a reverse pyramid. if you have two branches coming into one make the single a lv 2 . if the 2 branches are lv2 make the single a lv3 . if in a single branch with 2 pockets make the main one level 2 and the second pocket can start draining sooner because you can't drain both through one line until the first one is done
Tip: UPGRADE YOUR PIPES. I cannot stress how much of an increase the pipe upgrades are and it really helps get all of the oil out of the ground. Also you get a bonus if you extract and sell all oil :)
Additionally: PLEASE BRANCH FROM THE PLATFORM HUB, The platform hub has no throughput limit, by making the branch point out of a pipe you are bottlenecking your flow requiring many subsequent upgrades to accommodate that excess.
I think we need to put this in drainage terms for Matt. Imagine a Ridgistorm-XL 2700mm pipe that is being fed from your roadside drain via a coffee straw. Upgrading to a 3000mm pipe does nothing to drain the water faster. Matt, you used to design drainage systems professionally. You can do this.
When you branch from a node in oil to another oil reserve it wont pump from the next spot until the previous is completely empty. Always have a node between the reserves so you can make branches and then it will pump from all at once.
Eh, depends on the reserves. You can chain a bunch of small pockets no problem, will get cleaned out in time easily. But if you hit a big one, its better to start a new pipe. Also, starting additional pipes from the rig itself will allow for more oil. 2 pipes connected to the rig directly will double output. splitting at a lower node still caps at the top most pipe, connected to the rig.
Matt! First of all, when you gamble, you can choose the dice - the ones you wanna keep for yourself. You don't need to reroll all of them every time! And second, yeah, upgrade the pipes and put more storage, refinaries and horses early on!
To be precise while water flows price is reduced, the discount that shows with water access assumes entire pipe was drilled with water, you can do a section (for example drilling through rocks) cheaper while not spending too much water
You can also change the number of horses with the scroll wheel on your mouse, you don't even have to go down on one side first, going up on the other will override it.
The first upgrade of pipe can support 3 branches, and using a regular upgraded storage silo to store that throughput above ground in the early game lets you use those pipes for water once the oil is gone. There is a bonus for getting it all out of the ground, and you can always make it into petrol later, funded by early game crude sales. You can see the oil moving through the pipes and the gray portion shows unused capacity. Engineer that inefficiency away! Optimize those networks. I think the 2nd pipe upgrade supports 6 regular pipes or 2 upgraded ones, but it might be 9 and 3. Been a while since I played. Also, you can branch right from the rig. Stop with that architect thinking of having to mimic a tree trunk.
If you mouse over left or right and scroll the mouse wheel you can increase or decrease the number of wagons assigned to that one without needing to click. If you have some assigned to one, then mouse over and increase the number on the other when you run out of unassigned wagons it will pull from the other one to the one you want. Edit:I you have air in your pipes it means the pipes feeding it aren't big enough to fill them to capacity. Usually, I'll have two to three lvl 2 pipes feeding a level 3.
Awesome, I just finished the main game for the first time right before watching this. I won by reaching the end of the map and buying the 11% stocks that Daisy had, Blanche was negative and Ricardo had 10K. So I won for 11,100 purchase in the end.
Use branches from the top into each oil pocket. Drain oil in "parallel" instead of "series". Sell oil early even if price is low to get bonus for clearing all oil.
The bonus for clearing all the oil is only $1k (plus another $1k for selling it all). I don't think that's worth selling early at a low price when you're earning $50k+.
There is loans you can take so you don’t waste time Matt also keep an eye on your pipes. If they aren’t solid black then the pipe isn’t balanced if you have a pipe that’s completely empty, but still connected to a node than that pipe isn’t doing anything. This is why you keep leaving oil so the best thing to do is to upgrade every pipe back toward the rig until all your pipes are full black also to keep from spelling by a silo and don’t upgrade it to a refinery just upgrade the silo part you’ll be able to store the oil and keep from spilling
been watching thia series for a while i should say 1.Try to upgrade hrotse carriage instead spam lot of them it make them move faster and carry more. 2. Upgrade the pipe as soon as possible 3. Need 2-4(depend on how much oil on map) normal silo(max it) and 1 refineries 4. Dont use all carriage to sell left 1 or 2 to move the oil to silo(prevent spillage and keep pump those oil) and use all when pice is high
Some tips, if you get into the game: -upgrade horses when you have around 5-10, thats when it's more profitable than more carriages -you'll need more than just 1 refinery in many locations, to actually produce the most petrol possible. At least 2, but sometimes 3 or 4 might even be viable. Since you can store oil in the refineries and carriages, 2 silos are usually plenty -pipe upgrades depend on the rest of your production. If you do too much too early, you'll spill a lot, especially if the prices are crappy early, and you can't build up enough of an economy to afford the extra wagons and silos. Upgrading a pipe triples output, so you may need 5 wagons just for one lvl2 pump, depending on how far they hae to travel.
Tying your rigs together underground is a good idea as long as you can route around water lines. You'll never have an idle pump, so the chances of having oil left over even tho you've tapped the node goes down.

Do the land auction then the stock auction. They will spend all their money buying land and upgrades so then in the stock auction they will have way less money to bid with. Keep up the amazing work! I love your videos.

Before you bid on the stocks bid on the land , this will make opponents spend there money on upgrades , then ull be left with them having no money for stocks and u can save a lot of money u ll end biding like 6k on stocks
I see why it went bad-ish for me, i didn't know you could drill to several holes, i always sat and waited until the first oil hole was done until i drilled to the next.
PLEASE BRANCH OFF THE RIG. 3 TIMES THE INPUT! I tend to make a mana fold diamond. Also makes it so u can have a whole branch isolated. I also put 1 refinery at each end with a solo rig middle. Hug the side and jump to water never needing to interupt oil lines down the mid. AGAIN 3 PIPES CAN COME FROM THE RIG!
don't do the shares bidding until after you've done the land auction. The Competition tends to spend big on land leaving them with not much to spend on the shares bidding
in the "gambling" it's a luck and skill game because you need to save the die within the 5 barrel slots and if you get like 15 in the barrel and a 6 from the dice rolled you win, you click on the die to save it within the barrel

Honestly I swear he has a one thick pipe line trying to pull from 3 different pockets and wonders why he doesn’t get all the oil out
Just watch out for spills
i annoys's me that he upgrades the pipes to a nod outside of the oil but never in to to the oil so it makes no difference
omg... I was hoping he would upgrade so many, you can see that some pipes were not getting proper flow.
Additionally: PLEASE BRANCH FROM THE PLATFORM HUB, The platform hub has no throughput limit, by making the branch point out of a pipe you are bottlenecking your flow requiring many subsequent upgrades to accommodate that excess.

A great tip is branching out from the top from the oildigger
That way you get a way greater output, and makes it easier to collect all oil
Hey Matt, opening your water for like 1 millisecond doesn’t do shit for upgrade prices, it must be open until the drilling (or upgrade) finishes
Oh...
So it's just like IRL, they use water to cool drill bits while making it drill faster.
To be precise while water flows price is reduced, the discount that shows with water access assumes entire pipe was drilled with water, you can do a section (for example drilling through rocks) cheaper while not spending too much water

Not sure if you know, based on your wording, but 3 lvl X pipes = 1 lvl X+1 pipe.
@DaTimmeh you don't sound as smart as you think you do in this comment.
RCE try land auction first then the enemy's buy they're upgrades and then it's much easier to buy stocks.

Having said that ..still love it lol
Each oil rig can dig multiple pipes, you can double or triple up. Also upgrade the pipes to pump even more oil through!
Love the video man its great to see a video pop up
one of the big mistakes you make is not upgrading the size of the last pipe into the oil.. They ALL have to be thick pipes for fast pumping.
