TPKs and so forth…getting the difficulty right is one of the hardest things for a DM to do. Seems like there are a few killer DMs (maybe less nowadays) and a whole lot of DMs who let players get away with too much. To be sure, a lot of players seem to like it that way, but I always found it boring if there is no risk.
