Tommy Walker’s GENERATION HYMNS helped open the door for us into Multigenerational Worship! We also used these wonderful arrangements for our Baccalaureate Band as public high school students led worship at the baccalaureate for Elba High School in Elba, Alabama! These are songs given by the Lord. Every song has a texture. Nothing wrong in using the modern instruments as long as we don't mar the orginalty of the hymns. Worship in Sprit n in Truth.
All this project named Generations Hymns blessed me so much. I want you all to know that. It was used by God to draw me back to Him, it was used by Him to heal my heart, and mainly, it was used by Him to wash my soul clean again. I cried tears of repentance, and then tears of joy. And it all happened many years after you performed and recorded it. So, yes, be sure it keeps blessing people all over the world with such depth yet simplicity.

Abhijit Dasgupta This is the melody used in most hymn books in the USA ( without the added chorus)
Please do not expect Tommy Walker to change his arrangement because you like a more traditional rendition of this hymn.
The tune is Coronation. Per Wikipedia:
“The best-known tunes used for the hymn are "Coronation" (Oliver Holden, 1793) and "Miles Lane" (William Shrubsole, 1779), with "Diadem" (James Ellor, 1838) the favoured one in Australia, but there are a number of others. "Diadem" is also the most favoured tune sung as a choir number.”
Miles Lane is slightly older but Coronation (the tune used for the traditional portion of the hymn in this video’s version) is the more popular tune.

Proper tune? And spirit? It seems to me that "you" are not of the right spirit, which is called a "critical spirit", which has no place with the Spirit of Christ. Please understand that I'm a guitarist and have been playing songs to the Lord for a long time and He gave this gift to bring Him Glory with everything that is in me! I can almost guarantee you that the Holy Spirit had nothing to do with your comments, He was too busy enjoying the song sung with a pure heart!
