I personally have a hard time sleeping at all on a plane short or long trips. With that said I practiced about a week before going at home putting on my phone pod cast of things to learn about traveling. And listened to to them every night until my body began falling asleep when they were playing. I downloaded the exact podcasts to my phone. Then on my first long housed trip where day time hours where my destinations night hours I got my downloaded pod casts out right after my meal served and began listening to them through my ear buds. With in ten minutes I fell asleep. This was the first time ever to sleep on a plane. Listening to the podcasts took away the nervousness of the trip and allowed my brain to calm down 😊 This time I wasn't nearly as tired when traveling the long haul. I also used this trick while in the hotel with all the different noises my brain wasn't used to.
two comments - firstly you can no longer just get on a flight 'early' because you want to - there are boarding zones/rules and line ups - they call specific rows or areas and you need to unfortunately wait your turn! As for an empty row or preferred seating - you just can't jump up after the doors are closed and move - you need to stay in your assigned seat for takeoff - and once the plane is up and levelled off then you can switch seats if available. You may also wish to ask the flight attendant about that as well.
I enjoyed this however there is some information and advice given on here that is incorrect ...you cannot just move seats when they close the floors before take off .... I worked on them... for weight and balance ...and health and safety reasons however . you can move around when your up in the air. But you have to get back in the seats you were on before landing ... xx
I learned something new: seatbelt over the blanket. I never thought about that. Thanks. I'm kind of short, so a foot hammock makes my ride much more comfortable. I'm with you on the Chase Sapphire card. Our upcoming flight to Italy is covered by points.
You’re lucky you live where you do because I live in Australia and the shortest flight to Rome is 24 hours minimum & long haul is up to 40 hours from Sydney to any country in Europe ( eg The Netherlands)and it’s a killer ! I wouldn’t survive on Snacks😂…Great tips though I follow your channel especially the Spain videos 🙏
Yep the Sydney to London flight is a killer. If you can, a day or so in Dubai after the first leg helps. Nothing like lolling in a pool after a 15 hour flight!
Thanks so much for your tips! I'm ordering the neck pillow and look forward to a more comfortable flight than my last one. Also, I'm loving this colorful outfit you're wearing! Wonder where you found it? Thanks again!
Really good video. Very worthwhile. I'm saving this one. Suggestion: you have so much to offer and have such a lovely personality. I really don't think you need the music at all. And I'm a musician, LOL! JMO.
Lucky you living in Australia! The flights can be a killer. Thanks to Express Parking at Heathrow Airport eases the stress of travel. Great tips-I'm a fan, especially of your Spain videos!
Trying to get head round my flight from UK to Australia 23.5 hours 13 + 8 hour flight back 5 hours layover .Singapore for two days on way out to break Journey up.
Also...avoid bulkhead seats because, quite often, they have bassinet hooks. Screaming babies and flights of ANY duration don't mix. Second, wear dark clothing "up top" that won't reflect off the IFE. And, finally, if one lives in a "minor market," it's very possible flying to a major airport, then booking flights out of that airport may save a considerable amount of money, even when adding the expense of separate flights out of ones hometown.
I wish I had come across your videos sooner, I already booked my flights. I'm flying from the Pacific NW to Helsinki via DFW/JFK. I also have pain disorders so a lot of this is going to come in handy.
Lots of great info. I have noticed you use music in the background, the music overpowers your great info, please turn music down or off. Thanks other thank overpowering music, great video.
Not sure how you can get on the airplane 'early'? You have a zone indicated on your boarding pass so can't board until then? Would love to be the first on the plane - but that's only for first/business class/loyalty etc :(
You can sometimes pay extra to board early or get priority check-in even for economy. Some credit cards such as the Amex Delta give you priority boarding and checked bag even in economy. Makes the card worth it if you fly. Just check your bag and board early.
I just recommend not being the last time the board. You can board in your a lot of time end zone, but try not to be the last one. Thanks for watching the video.
You said you would link cubby not sure how it’s spelled. He said it hangs on the back of the chair and you can sleep without your head going every which way where can I get it?
My biggest problem about arriving ealry is that the Agent desks tend to open at the last moment I arrived 6 hours early once and I couldn't check my bag until 45 min before flight time which meant I had to run to the gate.
i'm gluten free too i asked for a gluten free meal but i don't know what to expect 😅 what type of snack and brand do you recommend? Being gluten free is new to me i need recommandation. Thank you 😊
Gluten-free choices are not always the best. They tend to be bland for the main meals. I usually bring food with me. Gluten-free breakfast tends to be better than the gluten-free dinner. Just order it in advance with the airline. Thanks for watching the video and enjoy your travels.
My destination is 7 hours from where I take off. I take off at 22:50. This means that totally following the pattern of that timezone, I'd get at most 2 hours' sleep
Be aware of the change in country with downloading tv shows. We just went from the uk to the usa and none of the programmes from bbc iplayer would play
Howdy from San Antonio! We love your videos and we can only dream of going to all of the places you have gone to. So inspiring! Truly though, your channel is really top notch from the research to the footage. Keep it up!
could have been an informative video but the loud music over the talking makes it hard to listen. I don't understand why there is even music on a talking video anyway. Just no music so we can hear what you're saying.
I can not handle it. So loud and distracting and I missed half of what she was saying bc I kept turning down the volume. Im listening now as I type and honest to God, its giving me a headache😫🥹
With the ranges and endurance of modern aircraft, like the Boeing 777, 787, Airbus 350, 380, often it's impossible to break up flights. I've an upcoming 16-hour Seattle to Singapore I'm not looking forward to, but, in that scenario, the only way to break up that flight would be a stop in Honolulu, which is neither cost-effective, nor reduces the length of the flight enough to make it feasible as there are no direct flights from Honolulu to Singapore.
@@mrc6182 You answered your own question. Seattle to Hawaii, then Hawaii to Singapore, and same on the way back. Another option for Americans coming down this way is Japan. 8 hours direct flight from Seattle, then it's a few measly hours to Singapore. You can take up to 3 stop overs and get anywhere in the world very easily.

Light exercise , muscle stretching and a hot shower before going to the airport. It will tire your body and help you sleep easier on the plane.

How clean are those airplane blankets and pillows? I don't plan on using them except as lumbar support inside a pillowcase I bring with me.
I use them more for lumber support myself. I tend to bring a big scarf and my own pillow. I honestly don’t know how clean they are…
Thank you ! Wonderful tips going to watch your video on jet lag that’s the hardest for me

Yes, sometimes that happens. I don’t typically arrive that far in advance.
@@TheAbundantTraveler even when I arrive the manditory 2+ hours early as required by international flights..no check in until almost too late.

They are very long flights, as I’ve flown both directions

The music seemed fine to me.
I don't mind the music, but preferably at a much lower volume because it is kind of distracting, and ends up slightly annoying.
I had to stop watching for this very reason.
Its not the front of the plane that's the smoothest. Its over the wing. They balance the weight of the aircraft in that way.
And try to book direct flights.
Absolutely, if you can book direct flights that is best. Thank you for watching the video

The most important tip is do not fly economy on a long haul flight

Air New Zealand, Qantas, Air Canada International flights..well sort of full meal in small quantities.
Just don't do them. Break them up.
