Screw Compressors: Converting to Single Phase

After shopping for a new piston air compressor for my shop, I ended up buying a used screw compressor instead. If it worked, a screw compressor would be much quieter for me to run inside the shop.
Before I could run it in my shop, I had to convert it from 3 phase power to 1 phase power. That is what I did in this video. I had to…
1. Replace the original 3 phase motor with a single phase motor of comparable size.
2. Replace the motor starter (contactor and thermal overload relay) with ones sized for the new motor
3. Install a 50-amp electrical circuit and outlet in the shop.
