I agree the quest 3 is rubbish. I dont like the colour, or that you have to put it on your head, the fact you have to charge it, and it gives me square eyes. And im usually upsideown when i turn my headset on which means that when i sit up my headset is Australian , Hate it so much.
In my experience switching from the quest 2 fresnel lenses to the quest 3 pancake lenses, the quest 3 pancake lenses have a vignetting issue due to how they refract light, which is more apparent in brighter virtual environments, and the battery life is worse than the quest 2 as well. I'm sure this is due to the higher power GPU in the quest 3, along with the fact there are a seperate display per eye, unlike the quest 2 which has only 1 big display. The built in glasses spacer in the Quest 3 facial interface doesn't hold up well, the built in glasses spacer couldn't handle the weight of putting my face in the headset, and it collapsed back into the position for no spacing. I tried this with my own Quest 3, and the store demo models, and they all have the same instability issue with the glasses spacer. I've asked multiple people about the Quest 3's vignetting problem and some people are bothered by it, and some aren't. There's also a reddit that talks about this vignetting issue from what I've searched. But personally I had to return it due to it bothering me quite a lot.
I dont experience problem number 3. If I do, I am able to get around it by turning the menu off and back on and redoing the boundary. There are different ways of redoing the boundary, so not sure how you're doing it which gives you the problem you describe. For number 6, for the controllers, I agree, but I purchased a small backpack made expressly for the Meta Quest and it has very good backpack compartments and there's a compartment I use to put down the controllers and they dont roll over. Since it's a backpack, I can have it anywhere. For number 8, for the battery life, I agree and I purchased a battery that goes around the neck and connected via USB-C into the headset. It adds 2-3 extra hours to the headset. I also saw some highly rated headstraps that come with battery compartments and the battery packs come from the same company on Amazon.
As a person who's had now 4 VR headsets the Q3 is absolutely the best. However the stock strap is AWFUL I replaced mine with a cheap one on Amazon during Black Friday. and I just decided to get a silicone face cover instead of the fabric and it makes a world of difference for comfortability. I also think passthrough could still use a couple updates I can either see straight at my phone or it looks like I'm 8 bottles of bud light deep there's no in-between. I am really enjoying the MR games but of course Batman is absolutely AMAZING.
I have no negatives. If you know someone with a 3d printer. These print files can be found online. One print fixes the stock headstrap. Just needs a plate for the back of the head. $0. Anker 533 10000mah 30w. $25 on Amazon. I got two. Print a head strap holder for it. $0. Print usb wire holding clip. $0. Print active straps. $0. Silicone face interface if you want. Profit.
I think the headstrap/facial interface/lenses are the most important changes/additions that need to be made. My “perfect” combo is the BOBOVR S3, Oblik facial interface, and Reloptix lenses. The S3 is a halo strap with a built in fan, the Oblik is custom made with vents that fit perfectly with the S3 fan, and Reloptix makes excellent lenses that protect the headset lenses and makes it so u don’t need to shove your glasses inside.
2:45 you can reset facing direction by holding meta button
@@Borostwory I'll give it a go!

It’s still perfectly at the end of the day

For #3, holding the meta/oculus button resets the view. Surprised you didn't know this if you had a quest 2

Great tips and products! Thanks!
A couple simple 3d prints makes the stock strap perfect and lighter than the aftermarket ones.
Nr3- you just need to press meta button for reseting the view in 1 sec
Where did you get that head strap?
I purchased my quest second hand with the strap, but it's from kiwi design. www.kiwidesign.com/collections/head-straps
