    Same rounds I carry in my H&K .40 USP, my Beretta Model 84 Cheetah, and my Sig P365 9mm. I love these rounds. Thank you for providing the round that will be used for protection of family, and myself.

      That's a odd way of explaining it. 😏 The FBI and FLETC test common barriers like: 🚘 auto glass, denim fabric 👖, plywood-wood 🏠, sheet metal, etc. A well made JHP or 🚔 round should be consistent and expand reliable. With ideal 100% weight retention. Low muzzle flash is + too.

    I've carried Federal Premium (HST or Punch) in all of my pistol calibers for years now EXCEPT for .380 Auto, which I have always carried a Hornady XTP offering..but thanks to this, I can carry Federal Premium exclusively now. This round is a game changer in .380, loaded up in a 12+1 LCP Max to boot and it's legit.

    I initially bitched about the 1.80 per round but wanted to experience new technology.... when I tested this round on various strata I realized it was a step ahead of HST...not that is any slouch , by any means, the ability to control the wound channel through heavy clothing is unparalleled...once again Federal has upped it's game....

    The Original Hydroshock was an innovative design that appeared to combine deep penetration with expansion. The only problem with that was the post that assured deep penetration, presses the flesh aside with no or minimal damage. That means that the diameter of the actual damage done to tissue (permanent cavity) is reduced. Without the post, it will still expand, but not penetrate as deeply, but have a larger permanent cavity as far as it does penetrate, compared to the same round with the post.

    Remember soft points? Good ol soft point bullets would be great instead of plastic plugs. The post is close but I bet with the advanced jacket designs we could have some great SP loads that would be more affordable & come in 50 round boxes so we could train with a good carry load. Hell you shoot 1 mag of 9 mill HST & a 20 round box is almost empty just to function test them.

    • @lordravenblade
      @lordravenblade 3 роки тому

      I remember being told years ago that enough semi auto pistols don’t feed soft points consistently enough to make them a viable product in general.

    • @no.step.on.snek.2423
      @no.step.on.snek.2423 2 роки тому

      @@lordravenblade thats a lie.. autopistols feed sp ammo as good as ball ammo.. the problem is common defense calibers for autopistols dont generate the required velocity to make.the soft point expand.. thats why hollow points came along . The open nose allows hydraulic force inside the bullet, and dont have to force lead back far enough in the bullet to cause expansion.. thats why you see high energy pistol rpunds like 357 and 44 mag utilize softpoints. They have alot more.power and actually need something to slow expansion down to keep.the bullet from shattering.
      You can still find 9mm soft points. But they usually lighter than 115 grain and loafed to +p pressures to get enough velocity to expand them and even then its not.reliable

    Other gun channels show penetration in the 20" range; far, far too much for civilian defensive use. If there was a problem with the 'old' Hydra-Shok, I didn't get the memo, and neither did a huge pile of bodies in Boot Hill.

    • @frawdulent
      @frawdulent 2 роки тому

      Ballistic gel is not a good test for penetration. Shooting pork shoulder or t-bone flank steak is more realistic.
      The only thing gel is good for is showing expansion of the projectile. That’s it.

    • @thepatriotsrage661
      @thepatriotsrage661 9 місяців тому

      The Federal Hi-Shok is a traditional cup and core JHP, with no bonding of the jacket to the core including mechanical bonding via a cannelure. It has a rounded nose profile compared to the Hydra-shok. The Federal Hydra-Shok is also cup and core, with less of a rounded ogive and lead centre post in the middle of the JHP opening. Neither are bonded.

      @UpstateArms1 thanks for your questions. The test firearm was a Glock 17 Gen4 loaded with P9HSD1. The Glock has a 4.49" barrel. Our new 9mm Luger Hydra-Shok Deep is available at a variety of retailers and independent dealers. Product began shipping in January. To find a store near you, please visit bit.ly/2GZMfQs. Aint too smart huh.. "civillian barriers".. ie barriers civillians may have to shoot thru in self defense.. ie. Car doors, bedroom doors , heavy clothing...
      The original hydrashok performed.great.. but it had trouble with jacket separation and barriwrs presented a even worse problem .. so this was designed as an improvement.. there aint no such thing as " government pistol ammo". The fbi uses critical duty , i just bought 200 rounds of it at the local hardware store last week.
