  • Felicissimo Dizon was my father’s private instructor in the art of Eskrima/Estocada. My father inherited 3 systems of Filipino Martial Arts from Dizon: Doce Pares, Doblete, and his unique and incomparable Mohara.
For the first time, the 3 systems of Dizon’s Estocada will be demonstrated for the Rolando Estocada channel. The progression of these 3 systems is an unparalleled account of Dizon’s ambition to refine his art to such a degree that he could apply it in duelling contexts and mass attack scenarios. Most importantly, his process of refinement displays a rare genius for grasping the essence of FMA and combat at its core. As a martial arts practitioner and instructor for over 40 years, I have never encountered a methodology as complex and as ingenious as Dizon’s Estocada. It as an art that is fundamental to my own Estocada methodology, and it is incomparable in its sophistication, insight, and combat effectiveness.
I hope you enjoy this video! 🙏🏽🔥👊🏽

Love it! I'm glad you're in a position to share his legacy; things like this are too easily lost.

Love the video! Great information! The annotations make it easier to understand.
Would your father be willing to do a private interview with you, and you could make a video about his responses?
I'm curious about how to travel and sleep with a stick. I think there could still be value in how to carry, conceal, and draw a stick, especially in places where knife or gun isn't allowed or not called for.

Thank you Sam! Send the questions here and I’ll ask him.
He showed me a few of them but I think they were relevant for the time. I may do a video on them based on your query.

Mark wiley's book says "Dizon was not only a master of the serrada (close) and largo (long) range escrima styles, but was also an adept hilot (healer)"
Is it possible to say the serrada style was the decuerdas and the largo possiblely be the Mohara?
Did Dizon teach any hilot to your father?
Is the Doce pares of Dizon unrelated to the cebu Doce pares style?
I heard there was a Doce pares in Luzon

I think it is possible to say DeCuerdas was his Serrada - although there is some close-range in Mohara (called “Agawan”) that doesn’t resemble Serrada nor DeCuerdas. Both Serrada and DeCuerdas similarities can be found in the Doce Pares he taught my dad.
No hilot taught to my dad but he was known for it - especially among my father’s uncles and aunts who were familiar with his line of work.
I believe in Mark Wiley’s work he was cited as being a member of the Doce Pares Society in Laguna. However, I believe he had interactions with the Cebu Doce Pares lineage. MANY years ago I attended a Diony Canete workshop and I asked him if he had ever met Dizon. “He said ‘yes - he was average.’”
According to my dad, although Dizon taught the art to him, he openly berated Doce Pares to my dad during their sessions, urging him to learn it quickly so they could move on to Doblete and Mohara.
Apparently there was no love lost between Cebu Doce Pares and Dizon.
