How to make a negative-screen casioak even less legible? Stick a big cross that looks like 4 extra hands on it!
Love my positive, bluetooth and tough solar oak😊
Haha yes! Perfectly put.
Agreed!
Never understood the negative display, it's hard to tell because the whole display is already dimmed.
Put a MIP display on the GB-D500 and I'd be tempted.
Well said.............
I would make the GBD500 square, and with MIP display, but then it would be a slimmer GBD-200. So the best thing would be a tough solar or 10 year battery GBD-200... 😅
Exactly, that's what I thought !
@@tinentdan Thick... too thick.......
Agreed
Like the GDB-500 but I wish Casio would ditch the terrible negative display on All of their watches.
Yeah, unless they ship it with MIP display. The negative one so bad. It is hard to read it
Casio should replace neg display for MIP.
It's not all about readability - it's also about style. See, there should be both options to choose from. You don't have to buy the negative, do you? 😉
Not all negative displays are hard to read (unless your eyes are bad), and look in my opinion better.
@Adz456 Yeah but casio could just use mip. It's more readable and still has the negative look
If Casio comes around with a Tough Solar version of the GDB, I’ll buy it in a heartbeat 👍
Hi! Honestly, I don't mind the idea of having smaller and (theoretically) equally robust G-SHOCKs.
I say this because when I work manually or when I am in firefighting or emergency operations I always carry a watch, and the models I mainly use in those cases are the DW-5600, the G100 or the AWG-M100 because they are relatively compact, and on the practical side, having something too bulky on your wrist can also be dangerous as well as awkward in certain situations.
Furthermore, I believe that the lugs of the watch which are not excessively robust are a plus, because as I witnessed the scene of a friend who was left hanging in mid-air with his watch caught in the nets when he was getting off the boat onto the pier, and in similar cases the risk of serious injuries is quite high; fom the point of view of what a work watch should be, these two models have nothing to complain about in my opinion.
I also have other larger models from the G series, but I use them exclusively for the aesthetic side.
Congratulations for your work, among all the reviewers you are my favorite!
I'm dead happy with my GW-5000U. You can't bloomin tell the time with these buggers 😂
I can't unsee the big ass X on the GA2300.
Sphincter?
I see the same thing it's just a big X
Possibly structural and allows it to be so thin?
@@droobie827 what? Its a plastic watch not a building 😂
Welcome to X-Force 💀
I prefer the GA2300. The wife had it right. The 2300 is unique. Completely unlike everything Casio has done before. The GBD500 looks like a revised version from the 5600 line of square watches. The 2300 is new and innovative.
Thanks for the great review AND the refreshing honesty!!!
I own both as I am a collector of all things G, but of the two my favourite is the GD-B500. I ordered the green/yellow GD-B500 from Japan as the colours available via UK site only offer black or white with rubbish negative display.
What’s your thoughts on these new GShocks not feeling like GShocks anymore???;)
😢 sad. Especially their useless negative displays. However, it’s nice to see GShock are catering for all. Let’s hope this is the year they finally provide us with a MIP display 5600 minus heart rate monitor and charging.
Not feeling these new ones the 2300 looks confusing to read.
@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR wait until you see the mirrored display on the grey GBD500. The Backlight effect is amazing and very unique!
Great review again! Hey my suggestion for someone who maybe wanted a smaller version of a G-Shock would be the Casio tough solar W-S210H, I love mine, it's been with me through thick and thin. 😊
Awesome as always!
I have the gray GDB500 with the mirrored screen and positive display...it's super nice!
I like the GDB-500, that thing is cool! About time they made the G-Shocks smaller. MUCH smaller.
That’s the problem. They are trying to reach an audience that’s a small percentage. They need to keep them big and thick that’s says G-shock not this small thin crap
@@drew5992 They are watches whose use ranges from work to special operations, and there is nothing more useless than having a large watch in those cases.
We can argue that the larger Gs are very beautiful, but the discussion stops there, generally every G-SHOCK that is too larger than a DW5600 distorts the very conception of what it should be. :)
That GD-B500 is the "tate" mode G-Shock we didn't know we needed!
I like the GDB-500 in bright green mainly because it's the only one with a positive display 👍
I really love your show. I love the wit, the information and the entertainment. I am a faithful watcher, so please keep up the great work.
I have the ga2300 and I really like it. I have a 7" plus wrist and it fits so well. I don't find seeing the digital display or reading the dial as difficult as reviewers seem to say. Spend some time with the watch and take it into different lighting situations. This little watch is awesome !
I agree these do feel more like Casios than G-Shocks. The GD-B500 is ok but I would prefer a positive screen with the black. If they release it that way, I might consider it.
Great comments and a great review. I love this guy. 😂
Always love your vids. Always has been fun. If I can request one thing, it's that when you mentioned the model, please have text in your vids on top of your voice (description). People like me are visual learner. Thanks
Great Job !!! If you could review the G-SHOCK GWX-5600C, which is known to be Ibe Kikuo's favorite watch. Your insights would be really appreciated by fans of the G-SHOCK series and watch enthusiasts alike
I do love these, however, I purchased the baby g BGD-10K-7ER... its great, fits perfect and yes while it does have baby g on the case...who cares right... positive display, while case and strap with a lime green chapter ring on the dial...what's not to love! Great vid as always... more g shock reviews incoming 😊
I'm with you, man - I'll stick with the old school chunky versions. I don't prefer either of them.
I think the GA2300 is made to have colorways...especially the X in the middle and the hour markers. Won't be surprised if it gets new versions or people customize it (for some reason it looks like the hour markers can swap out). The GDB-500 is definitely my lane. It reminds me of the Casio W800 which I have been plotting on mainly due to price but being able to get in a negative display for an all black look...hopefully I can mod the LED to be brighter. The GDB-500 would look better with a MIP display though.
I really like the thin square version. I've always thought the GShock's were a bit too bulky but who am I to say since they are indestructable. Still I like this model but I hate the negative display. I know a lot of people like the look of a negative display but it's not for me. I loved the review and you certainly talked about the best and worst parts of the watch MWC.
Bought the White BD500 and like you said: just nice to add to the collection
the GDB500 looks like it would blend well with Christopher Nolan's Batman costume, similar design ethos, to my eyes at least
Can you review the air fix watches, that takes me back?
@themadwatchcollector I have the grey GDB500 with the mirrored display. The back light has an incredible inverted effect when activated.
Could have been exactly what I love! - but still clearly prefer my GX-56BB - it's square, it's stealth, it's digi, it's bold - it's the essence of G-Shock! Cheers Russ, 🧡 your shows!
Can't unsee those 'devil horns' or 'cat ears' on the side of the GDB500.
Gab2100 + royal oak mod = killer combo
I think they both look really good. But I don't like the negative LCD, because it's too hard to read. I like that Casio tries to allow aftermarket straps. I am used to Nato straps and I can't see me turning away from them.
Got a Casioak that ticked all the boxes a few months ego: GA-B2100CT-5AER
Love that thing. Bluetooth and cotton strap. So when it comes to G-shock I am now golden
Glad I've ordered a dw5600e 1 fox fire, wouldn't get either of those,I was in Argos today and came out with two Casio's, bloody good prices,I'm going to have to get a Casio cabinet as well, think I've got a Casio addiction, not a problem except which one to wear each day, keep those Casio's coming mate
I love my G-Shocks……but not these. They look like they might have been early prototype versions of the Square and Casiooak. Put me down as a proud member of the Fuddy Duddy Club 😂
The new GST-B600 is even smaller while still maintaining the G-Shock DNA, including the integrated strap. Andrei from Brave Beaters did a great review of it a month ago.
The 2300 looks like a birds eye view of someone building decking in the garden with old pallets, utter cacka.
I like the negative displays because then it makes the reading of the time a game of chance. It’s fun!
I bought the gray GDB500 from Casio. Opened it, tried it on, took it off, and sent it back. I've never done that before. It's too small and isn't G-Shocky enough for my tastes. I'm sure there will be a market for it as it's smaller and really light, I'm just not that market apparently
I decided to get into my first G-shock but its the GA-2100MNG White. I just ordered it yesterday but its absolutely bonkers. I wish they made the manga version on the 5600 I think that would have been cooler than seeing on a 2100.
You almost had me on the 5000u. Sticking with my AQ S
Did you do a review on gst 600b ? Theyre fn gorgeous
The X on the GA2300 is kind of cool in the white version with the positive display. It's a maybe for me.
I don't know if they are the thinnest, thinnest equal to the GW-056 line from 2005 perhaps and maybe others, I dunno those were just my favorite G-Shocks, happy to see Casio making more thin ones again :), just wish they'd re-release or make a new version of the 056, they were like the Ninja of G-Shocks
When you said you weren't going to connect your watch to your phone somewhere an engineer began to gently sob 🥺
I agree about the value, for the price other Gshocks offer solar charging and sometimes multiband 6 or bluetooth. However to be fair, I feel the same way about every new fashion square they come out with...so it's business as usual for Casio then, and these are both available in other colors with non-negative displays...which is a very good thing for the 2300
I knew the wife would like the 1st one.
Good on Casio to offer smaller sizes. Although I thought ‘big and proud’ was part of the allure. I recently got my first - all white GA2100 - it’s a blast to wear on Saturdays and give my expensive watches a day off.
Finally a review of the Portrait-layout Gshock.!
GD B500-7 “Storm Trooper” is the coolest.
White with the dark negative display.
i have the pink GA-2300.....it so much fun
I like the GDB-500 in grey
These look nice, I have a AW590 - 1ADR which despite the little faults I love. Are they smaller than that Russell?
Strong indicator that small is the trend
Nice video, nice to see other Gshocks than the normal square, but....: that X Casioak is unreadable and the negative display on both makes me mad. I hate to be that guy, just get a square.
Purely a decoration feature. !!!!!:/
the greay version of the 2300 with the orange hands is a stunner - can't find one though, I guess they sold out very fast
Great review as always, Russ. :)
The GDB-500 is a reasonable watch, I suppose, but that negative display is some weak sauce.
The GA-2300 at least has hands so that the time is always clear, but the rest of that dial is an eyesore.
I don't know. To me, if someone told me these were G-Shock knockoffs, I'd believe them.
I just want both!! It is a G-SHOCK.!! Thanks for the review anyway mate.
That GA2300 (grey) is already sold out in my country. For collecting purpose I am picking up the black model. It is the first model guys - the only G that can sit flat on my tables ❤
I already have a Tough Solar Square G-5600E-1 and a Mudman G-9000-3V as my core G-Shock collection (I have five) which are more than enough for me.
Was about to pull the trigger on GA2300 but then found out that India didn't have the grey coloured reference and with all the watch youtubers I trust (including you) to make an informed decision not feeling too happy about it I'm caught up in a fight between my mind and my heart 😢
Will you get the gst B600A? Small size with the more sturdy gshock feel
Thanks dear
Can't wait for the 2300 to become a hit and then get solar BT versions and even a metal option like the oak.... I want to get this shape of G-shock (b001 /2300) but now I learned that with casio you really have to take your time or otherwise in the next month after purchase a new and amazing variation will come and render your purchase a bit odd
Does the neg display on the GDB500 compare to the display on the GBD200 where it can be read on an angle / slanted view? Thanks
Neg displays tend to only be seen at angles my friend! The GBD200 is on another 4 levels higher
@@THEMADWATCHCOLLECTOR Thanks, I bought the GBD200 based off your video, love it!!! , I will have to pass on the 500. Thanks for the honest comment. Saved me the $$.
I'd love a rubberised resin square aka DW5600 without all the pulse and smart sensor stuff.. Just bluetooth, *tough* solar and the new MIP display
love that casio makes new design and watches, but i'll think iam good for now :D got my 5610 solar, rangeman and my ga2100 .. you can't beat perfections :D
I remember opening the box of the B500 and being disappointed at how small it is...basically a Baby-G...
What were they thinking? 🙃 Thank you for the review.
I could see the GDB500 being a mod hit, with it's 3D look. A hexo-finissimo if you will.
You didn’t mention the water resistance. Is it 200 meters? I like the GDB500. I already have a Casio Royale but I don’t wear it too often because I prefer slightly smaller/thinner watches.
Good video's keep them coming ❤ 🇬🇧
I'm between the ga 700 UC, ga100 or ga 110 it would be my first g shock but not the first for the brand Casio. Which would you recommend?
Another gem review
The wife's note is the best part of the show
Strange concept, I can't quite decide if I'm on board or not. It would be the 500 if I were to leap, but they just don't seem to be all that 'G-like'! You're definately right about the 'ears' on the X-men watch, gives it a slightly awkward look. Best wishes dude.
GD-B500 with a MIP display and Solar would be a complete winner.
Salute to G-shock for creating these 2 new models. I love it!
It’s really tough to beat a 5610U or a Casioak”! I do like the step-counter on the square one.
Please. Casio, we need, we beg, we demand more releases with a positive display.
Why everyone hate negative display gshock?i dont get it
Yes they dont as eligible as positive display, but not by much
U can just slightly tilt your arm (or head) and they will good
I use to own 2 DW5600 with positive and negative display (not modified) and i sold the positive display one,its too boring
I always thought the Casioaks looked a little Fisher-Price and too large. So the GA2300 may be for me.
I have a question? when do these come to North America? Because the GDB-500 is calling my name I really like the green one its a statement piece for sure. I also like the GA-2300 the X is cool to me but I'll probably get in the grey color.
Looks like the Fisher Price X G Shock collab nobody asked for. Definite pass on these ones for me.
Weeeeeell collabs are all the rage nowadays.
My first self bought G-shock GD-B500 nuff said!!! 😂
Will you review the GA-B001?
I like the rounded one, a little bit. 24mm lug width is seriously weird though.
I was looking at the 500 in neon on the GShock site yesterday - its the most legible and cheeky.
I want one of those GBD-500
GD-B500S-8
Is way More interesting, the mirror screen makes it more legible and the color makes it just more rare among most G's, the red pushers makes it stand out, I'm waiting till it gets to Amazon or eBay on a more realistic price
The missus is not afraid to let you know what she likes , and thats a good thing ;) , for my two bobs worth as a big old geeza with so so eyes , i generally go for the models that are more legible and brighter full size models , and yeah , i`m a bit more of a have less gimmicky stuff , but make the basic stuff work really well kind of dude . not my cup of tea really either of those models .
And i`m with you on the paying more for everything these days but actually getting less , apparently this is what they call progress :) .
You forgot to mention that there's an audience who might not be concerned about the design but have small wrists and still want to retain the very essence of G-Shock, which is to resist mechanical stress, shock, and vibration.
Well I’m that audience which is why I showcased it my friend! In honesty !!! Get a Casio instead if you don’t feel a g Square suits you!
I feel like after awhile wearing the GA2300 the x just doesn't stick out as much you know.
The X-shock looks like it was made by Xiaomi, definitely prefer the 2100 over it. The second one is not bad, at least it's still functional, but only with a mip or positive display. I still prefer the 5600 (it can't be beaten), but it's nice that they're experimenting with new cases.
Sir have you seen those Casio rings? I think you get them in Japan however
Don't like the design at all, but love the idea of smaller, slimer and more comfortable G-Shock. I love existing Gshocks for their design, but most of them are too big for me and not as comfortable as other Casio
We have the Casioak and now introducing the GDB-500, the Casitank... lol.
Busy faces, poor negative displays, less robust… it’s as if Casio was trying to respond to a particular niche but completely missed the mark. I’ll stick with what is already in my collection.
