I just want to say something: I discovered this channel at the start of 2021, when I was mildly interested in flight simulation, and had a vague idea that I wanted to become a pilot. However, I didn't have any passion for wanting to become a pilot, as I still wasn't sure if I actually wanted to become one. Your channel has completely changed my viewpoint and sealed the deal for me. I have fallen in love with aviation and flight simulation because of your videos. Your lucid, calm, and easy going explanations for things that I have never understood in aviation before is so good. I know for sure that I want to become a pilot now. Thank you, for being one of the best channels out there on UA-cam, and introducing me to the wonders of the Airbus. Once I become a pilot, I will never forget this channel, which kickstarted my passion for aviation. Regards, a young guy from India :)
Wow. Stunning! and those guys actually made reflection maps for every single tile in the Terminal! The elevator doors reflect differently, and the orange tiling around them reflect differently.
The town shown at the end is Trogir. Lovely place with a beautiful old town on the island visible from around 26:10. I chartered a boat out of the marina shown in the foreground a few years back, the sailing off the Dalmatian coast is awesome. The city of Split itself is a little way further south down the coast, Trogir is actually closer to the airport.
Had the notification pop up whilst at work. Couldn't wait to watch it. Was not disappointed. Brilliant video, understood your explanation of it all, can't wait to try it out. Thanks @320simpilot.
I love how despite it being a public simulator, you can still pull off perfect landings just like you would in the real world, it's pretty cool to see!
Ithank you again for your informative video. Great edits too. I love flying in msfs and I try to learn as much as possible via vids like this. Awesome post. And agree about the scenery of Split! Really beautiful.
As ever I really enjoyed this video, your professionalism is clear from start to finish. My landing in Memphis today was not smooth like yours at all - mind you there was a huge cross wind caused by the Hurricane - well that's my excuse. Must try Split next.
Excellent stuff. Made a difficult approach look easy. VOR's are a weakness of mine with flying, learning very slowly to improve on them. This sort of thing helps.
Hello, I was wondering how do you define the -2.5 degree descent from the SPL vor, since this doesn't seem to be written anywhere in the chart. Wonderful video otherwise, I really like these.
I know this comment will probably get lost, but I would love if you did a flight with arrival in Genova (LIMJ), it has a wonderful approach over the city with great scenery, and a peculiar alternative circling approach which would be really cool to see!!
Would you be able to show us how you fly the EGCC (Manchester) approach in the sim? The published charts for EGCC show to fly right over the airport's VOR at about 3000ft and then out, make a 180 turn and come back in again for the ILS approach. However in real life no-one ever does this, they're vectored out over the Pennines by ATC and catch the glideslope at about 12 miles out. FS2020's ATC makes this hard to do as it wants you to fly the published approach.
Many airports have that kind of full approach and you would indeed be vectored by ATC to the IF rather than do the whole procedure. So if you're flying offline I'd just simulate this by flying a direct-to and ignore MSFS ATC. Or go VATsim.
Thanks for the video. How do you know when to start your descent from MDA to the runway and at what descent rate though on these visual approaches? In this case it was the SPL VOR, but the chart doesn't explicitly say, and you can't use the 100FT/3 second timer from the threshold rule in this case because of the terrain limitation. Would appreciate your help!
Awesome videos as always, really enjoy watching your thought process! One question I have however, is what is purpose of tuning the same VOR/CRS on the two frequency ?
Always impeccable landings with you, eh? Make it look so easy... but good job! I am getting better... slowly. And this is the first inside airport I have seen modeled - cool. What program you using for replays?
It can help to draw a circle 4 or 5 nm from SPL to have a visual reference on the ND for the final approach turn (this works in the Toliss A321 in XP, I'm not sure of the A32NX in MSFS). The LFMN approach is very similar, ánd mandatory for noise abatement. Great for practicing those manual flying skills! From the LFMN arrival briefing: "Any execution of an ILS or RNP Z/Y procedure when VOR A or RNP A procedures are in use will be followed by an analysis of the causes. Based on this analysis, an infringement report could be filed." You have been warned :D
I've been to Split in 2018 and the old town of split is actually to the south-east of the aiport on a peninsula. It sits on top of an ancient roman summer palace, which is still partially intact. Quite spectacular, just like your approach!
Great question! Yes a VOR loc mode would be great but the airbus doesn’t have this. Instead you could fly it in ‘Nav’ mode and let if follow the green line. But for this video I show a more manual approach!
@@VmcgHD ah ok. I don’t use FBW yet as stable is not ready and some other issues with MSFS so sticking with Toliss for my actual flights. I use the fix page a lot for visuals. Nice is a good one. A 174 radial from CGS and then a radial coming out from the landing runway. Where the 2 intercept I know to turn there
@@tomstravels520 Ah fair enough. Yes if it works in the Toliss then keep on using it. I can’t remember what I do at NCE. They usually just give the RNP A so there’s no real need to back it up with raw data. They dropped the VOR approach a few years ago. But the Fix page is a great tool to use. 👍
@@VmcgHD sorry yeah I select the RNP A approach which still follows the 174 radial but once you’ve passed the MAP you have to continue a bit further before turning right
Good catch! Not 100% sure, but I think that transition altitude 10000 ft is only applicable when you climb. When you descend, then transition level is relevant. And that one is provided to you by ATC, as described in the Chart. Since he is not flying with ATC, he chose something that made most sense, i.e. 6000 ft. Cheers
@@rayg1022able if you have the patience to wait for fully working aircraft add ons for MSFS like the Fenix A320 then I’d say no. But if you’re that desperate to fly properly and don’t mind spending money then go for it and get the Toliss A319/A321

Always nice to learn something when I visit the channel. Thanks for sharing.
I think the exp version of flybywire has the custom fmc now.
It does
Beautiful shots and camera views! Makes me want to go on a vacation.
I'd love to as well, but the USA won't let me in hahaha (or anyone else from the UK pretty much!)
You should come and fly in Australia on Monday between 0800z and 1200z, we have an event between YSSY, YMHB & YMLT.
Thank you so much for sharing your real world knowledge. Once again a brilliant video, great detail yet you have made it all understandable. 👍
Thanks, really appreciate the kind words!
LDSP doesn't really have that hole, it's pretty smooth. I don't know why she's so hunchbacked here.
Why did you insert 6000ft as the transition altitude when the chart states 10000ft? 😁
Incredible video, amazing! What did you use for the replays and how did you get those great plane spotting shots?
Absolutely stunning realism! Fantastic video. Thank you 😊
Very stunning interior. I didn't expect such detail.

hi, one question, im kinda new to flight sim, where did you get those BRG numbers, "LDSP23".
So LDSP23 refers to the ICAO code for the airport, in this case LDSP, and 23 is the runway, so LDSP23 is runway 23 at Split! Hope this makes sense
@@320SimPilot yes! thank you!

How do you add the navigraph charts to the top menu?
Would it help to put SPL as a fix and a 049 radial coming out of it? Then you have a path to follow outbound from the VOR
That is exactly what we do in our outfit. 👍 Sadly you can’t add Fixes in the FBW model yet though. 👎

Shame you had to use an experimental version to fly this. I'll try it in the CJ4, the WT CJ4 has a superb FMC.
Did exactly that a few days ago. Was fun!
Can someone tell me or himself, where he got the chart inagraded with MSFS 2020?
If you have a Navigraph subscription, the latest version of the Navigraph app lets you install the charts in the sim.
If you already have Microsoft 2020 is it worth getting X-Plane?
