How Mooncakes Are Made
Who eat mooncake whole like a barbarian? Cut into 8 slices and enjoy it with oolong tea!
I do ._.
fax my life
@@emilychen1440 8 is huat
@@emilychen1440 4 is similar to die in chinenes sooo unluck says old pple
I'm a proud barbarian.
Ikr I got offended
Someone somewhere, is complaining they're not made by hand instead
Yeah, they're called hipsters
It’s so lame that they had to use a machine instead of making it by hand
@@SingMeAMelody made by hand tastes better. I never buy machine made mooncakes
Shadowflare I’ve never had moon cakes before I’ve always wanted to eat one but I don’t have the budget and I’m too young to go and buy one myself :/
@@SingMeAMelody How old are you?
"It's important that the mooncakes are round..."
*Shows square cakes*
My Cantonese friend got me my first moon cake 🥮 this month and I loved it! The lotus paste tasted like bean halwa. I will definitely eat it again!💜
I LOVE MOONCAKES THEY'RE SO DELICIOUS
am i missing something? how do they put the filling in with the machine?
I think it was inserted when it was rolling into balls. But the video didn’t show
When the ball is made. She didnt mention that is an extruder with internal and external nozzles. Like a straw with a straw inside. The filling is in the inner nozzle and the dough is in the outer nozzle. The dough starts extruding, then the filling squirts, then the dough is pinched behind it, then it starts over.
Willy Jimmy I don’t think that’s how it works. At least when it’s made by hand it’s not
@@willyjimmy8881 How do you get the egg inside the filling?
@@wonhoscake1214 I've seen the process mentioned by Willy Jimmy done on pork buns, mochis, and other food with filling.
What I'm curious about is how they put cooked yolks inside the filling
Got my mouthwatering now and theyre out of season! 😭😂 nice to see them being made though, have always wondered.
Mooncakes looks so good that I must try it! 😋😃
Jade Cummings don’t eat all of it though. You’ll get very sick
@@chapicorn what's you say it's true right?
I have so many in my house from all my relatives that we have to put all of them in the freezer. Want some? We have plenty to spare haha
@@jadecummings8093 Yes it's true. A way to prevent from making your stomach hurt and all that from eating too much is green tea.
In China its very common to make these by hand all the time with our families. I've tried both before and machine made ones will never taste as good as handmade ones. The quality just isnt there
Of course in western countries it just easier to buy the mass produced ones. Handmade mooncakes are expensive and harder to find.
But generally, mooncakes aren't exactly super cheap.
They’re made from moon rock, obviously.
toastermcroaster what do you think the moon is made out of genius?
Lmao
I have a Chinese teacher who introduced me to them and I fell in love! I love them to death and would definitely eat that again
Vida Allen same im learning Chinese in school but I don't like my teacher she's mean and a hypocrite
Just order them online. Maxim is the brand to go with. Hong Kong pastry brand makes the best mooncakes.
Vida Allen Mooncakes are a delicious treat, but do refrain from eating them too much. They are very, very high in calories and fat because a lot of oil is used to make the filling and to knead the dough. I am from Hong Kong myself, but my family and I only eat around one to two mooncakes during Mid-Autumn festival because it is just way too unhealthy.
Well you should only eat 1/4 of the moon cake per day cuz if you eat the whole moon cake at once, it can make you REALLY dizzy. I ate a whole moon cake once and I fell asleep pretty soon after. It's caused by one of the ingredients... And I can confirm since I'm half chinese, half filipino... LOL😂
I love the lotus filling with a salted egg yolk center. The baked ones are my favourite. The snowskin type goes well with Durian and Jackfruit. It's sold everywhere here especially on the season. I could even buy it at my local Starbucks. They are so delicious. 😋
Just had my first one this year. It was one of the most delicious desserts I've ever eaten. Perfectly sweet and yummy!
You don't.... Eat the whole mooncake like that? You have to cut them in 8 pieces...?

I remember a time when my mom and aunt got together to hand make moon cakes. They burnt a batch and when my older cousin asked what the burnt moon cake was my aunt said it was a chocolate moon cake. He ate it.
I still vividly remember my Dad bringing a Moon Cake home from PNC Bank. They handed them out one year like 10-12 years ago for the Mid Autumn Festival. 😄
i literally got a Mooncake from my Chinese friend yesterday and now this is in my recommendation
I soo love the white colored ones with ice cream filling in it.red bean paste is also good one
I want to eat all of those
Stop being everywhere
I remembered when you wrote “most YIAY shoutouts”
Me too.
I never knew you would be here.
@@joeysoon9609 If you find them horrible, maybe it wasn't to your taste. There is different types of moon cakes, and if you don't think their flavor suit you, just say it wasn't your type of food you'd eat. No need to be salty and dissing the traditional cake in the comments, and there is no need to say it's horrible either. It could be just you. Others who never tried moon cakes wouldn't know how it tasted, and you're making it seem like it's not tasty at all. You may not like it, and i respect your personal taste, but I don't see a point to tell other people it's horrible.
Snowskin moon cakes are the best, original ones are great too.
Love the moon cakes only once a year very beautiful healthy fresh cake love the fillings is beautiful fruits and sweet or savory love them all thank you
My roommate junior year was from China and had her family ship these from there and gave one!! I felt so fancy and honored!!!! ❤️😊🥮
i love mooncakes so this was really cool to watch!
One of the key things they missed is that the mooncakes they are describing (primarily with the dough) is that these are Cantonese style mooncakes
Every time during mid autumn festival, I eat these cakes.
I remember in 3rd grade teacher brought moon cakes to class
They were so good
I’ve always wanted to try this ever since I was a kid when I saw it in the Wendy Wu movie
Maxim makes the best mooncakes. Maxim’ double egg yolks is the classic. I literally have had hundred of mooncakes since I was 8. I ate like 20 each year. So trust me on this. Order it online. It is probably on amazon.
If you’re wondering what taste the cakes are,the bean paste is kinda like taffy, but softer. It’s really sweet, the best time to eat them is at fall
I want to try one of them they look so good
It's really satisfying to watch.
Melon mooncakes and wife cakes are my favorite!
Thanks! This machine can teach me how to make Mooncake.
The sweet bean ones are my absolute favorite c:
These mooncakes look out of this world!🌝🍰
Scoobert Scooby Doo - I see what you did there🌚
Ack! I've been craving them ever since I left Asia, because we visited my mom's family in Vietnam for the Lunar New Year. Now they're out of season!
Never have I asked myself how these are made
I love moon cake. Srsly the no.1 cake on my list.
Show the traditional handmade process. Much more interesting.
Fun fact, mooncakes were used by the ancient Chinese to secretly pass messages to people during war.
Oh that is my mom and my grandma favorite dessert they eat it in vietnamese new year!!!

Umm who eats factory produced moon cakes ? I only buy handmade
The flavors are not my cup of tea but I love the intricate way they’re made.
Eating a whole moon cake without worrying about the calories 😂 savage.
Omg I remember these from Ni Hao Kai-Lan
0:08 Asia is not a monolith and is made up of many countries and traditions. To help people understand not to generalize might be helpful to state specifically where Mooncakes are a tradition.
Thanks for the video, it was interesting to watch the process.

This should be "how a machine made mooncake look like". Girl you almost got me snoring!
