In 93 the flood in Northern Missouri took everything from the farms. What i witnessed was Farmers joining together to save each other from losing their homes and farms, watching the kingdoms fall. The media didn't cover this. American farmers feed America and our Government makes it harder and harder every year. God bless our farmers and God bless my Grandparents who farmed their whole lives. 💕
There are very few songs that can actually move me to tears....this is one of them. John has this pain and heartache in his voice that pulls on your heart, while Joe does the same on lead... coupled with the subject matter of the song. And when they come out of the solo and harmonize with each other...its just pure magic. I'm blown away...period...end of story.
Agreed. I’ve been watching and listening in depth to this performance over and over the last few days. Was moved to write 3 new comments. Just played the video for my husband, and then read my new comments to him. I could scarcely get through the readings, as I was so deeply moved. Voice wavered and eyes brimmed with tears. I empathize with the story and performance in a really deep way. John’s story and song, totally poignant…..Joe’s solo, a total reflection (and more) of that poignancy. And the drummer, Tal Bergman, leading into Joe’s solo....what can I say? Nothing short of phenomenal!
Incredible vocals simple powerful vocal that build with guitar cracking open sky so simply thank you John And Joe happy Birthday JOhn Hyatt I cried screamed out Down around my place
I come back to this one regularly. The song has such poignance and that guitar solo by Joe always gives me chills. Just an incredible performance by two great musicians.
I'm a 1998 baby. My father always played John Hiatt and many more when i was a kid. thabk ypu for showing me what real music is Dad. I'm forever thankful.
Possibly the most underrated American singer/songwriter. If you've never seen him perform, you are missing out. He's nothing short of brilliant. True Grit.
He is awesome never seen him would like to though great writing simple and ballsy would also like to see him with John Hammond and Joe Bonamassa saw John when Tabacco Road in Miami was around
@@Superiorconcepts-l8p- Don’t listen to that roommate. There are many choices, but only one final answer. Don’t knock on that door. It will knock on all our doors soon enough. In the meantime, study the positive choices that lie before you. And know that people who matter will care. And for those people who don’t care, they don’t matter. Don’t listen to extraneous roommates.
Love how Joe always plays what serves the song rather than just shows off his (admittedly awesome) chops, sure sign of a really first class player. John Hiatt just wonderful of course.
Incredible heart they should absolutely do an album together I would Love to see them live truly Amazing like lightening erupting from the ground both of them equally superior
The extraordinary performance of 'Down Around My Place' at Beacon Theater by these great musicians staggers me every time I listen to it. I'm convinced this is one of the greatest songs ever written, and performed live in my lifetime. Period. Thank you, gentlemen.
John Hiatt. Nearly forgot him. But he is one of the best. Saw him in Groningen, long time ago. And this song with Joe lifted up the song to heaven hights,
This is by far my favorite John Hiatt song, and this is by far the greatest version of it. The way the song starts off so quiet and it just builds into this exploding guitar solo right out of Pink Floyd! nothing short of amazing.
Master peice and notice there is no over playing joe plays perfectly complementing John .truly abousluley a master piece. Beautiful song John really well placed by both .one for the archives definitely
What a tale of dichotomy and transition in life. Rural and urban. Old and young. Paradise past. Tribulation today. Broken radio and broken dreams. And binding this whole cultural and generational phenomena together is what grandpa said, “It's always the last one in who's in a hurry, to try and slam the door in the next one's face.” .....Fierce cultural and territorial values which may not be totally exemplary, but are totally strong. About which, the wisdom of old age had given grandpa new insight…and to us, new questions. But the young have yet to learn. There is the painful demise of the old life, the old ways, which happens to each generation, but very acutely here. Acoustic and folk, electric and blues, a dichotomy of two styles. The wonderful miracle of this performance is how two contrasting music genres meld together to tell that cultural story, how these two genres harmonize, how they uplift one another, how the storytelling is vastly improved by the contribution of each, and how neither performance would be as great without the other. Reflecting just how important cooperation is to the understanding and essence of life. Both these musicians are master storytellers. The band, too. Thank you, John! Thank you, Joe! ❤
Great analysis and summarisation. I didn’t put together the two different generes as part of the story, but I can see it. I felt the climax of the guitar solo brought out the frustration of the old with the younger generation. That is what is great about music. People may be moved in different ways!
Melodia e voce incredibili, per poi esplodere in quell'assolo, che lascia senza fiato, suonato più col cuore che con le mani....2 Grandi della musica mondiale.
Awesome to see how Joe and John relate, with Hiatt's great song as the subject. Joe restrains, adds in the right place, and respects....great performance!
what a performance.... bonamossa is amazing combined w Haitt.... the double vocals reach to heaven..... a daily listen.. for the power that comes from this song!
When I first heard this song I kept playing it over and over again. The way Joe Bonamassa plays his guitar is amazing. I like the words to the song but the music is the real deal.
A recent find and wow what a find. Johns great gravelly voice and Mr Bonamassa waiting like a praying mantis to strike. Chills up my spine - fabulous ❤️
Great Number, This song has so much deep meaning. There are no words to describe the lessons the younger generation will learn. I think this song is a great story of an Older man preaching his trials, to younger folks that are greedy and take things for granted.
Haunting.......... Powerful guitar solo and vocals, John's poetry especially. Very Cohen-esque…poignant, somewhat obscure meanings, And a prayer..…to whom, we cannot be sure, as God does not make errors…or does He??? Bereft, alone...but not defeated. Outstanding performance!!!
Great singer/songwriter and a stunning guitarist !! He is without doubt the stand out guitarist of our time !! I saw him twice on the recent UK tour and can't wait for him to return and wow us all again
Once you've heard this performance, you can never "unhear" it, and who would want to….nobody! It’s amazing! So dramatic, so totally soul-driven....... And then Joe's bone-chilling solo, A climactic sound created by God, channeling itself through Joe's guitar‼
One of my favorites, from the lyrics and the powerful voice of John Hiatt. It was my main reason for buying this on blu-ray to kick back with a cold beer and wish I had half of the talent as these guys. Amazing performance. Hopefully one day I will be able to see Joe and his crew but he never seems to make it to Thailand.
Truly atmospheric. John Hiatt is brilliant....his voice, his phrasing....and JB isn't bad either....together with the band they produce an outstanding performance of this song
Happy 69th Birthday to John Hiatt.. I have watched this incredible live version dozens of times and every time it hits big time... live music at it's bestest :)
scott mclaughlin um.... It's a collaboration, don't you think they practiced or at least talked about what kind of sound they would take? If Hiatt didn't like it he wouldn't let them do it that way.

Still gettin' them goosebumps....
Espetacular!
I think that was the most amazing guitar solo I have ever heard. Not to technical or over the top, just restrained poetry.
SO WELL SAID.....
Yes, there is poetry in the pain and anguish coming from Joe's guitar.
He gives it freedom to sing...and freedom to cry.
Incredible vocals simple powerful vocal that build with guitar cracking open sky so simply thank you John And Joe happy Birthday JOhn Hyatt I cried screamed out Down around my place
best for joe, certainly.
No one even compares to Bonamassa. No one!
Bonamassa & Hiatt should do an album together! This was amazing

Word🙌
I saw him at a festival. Unlike Joe Cocker he still had his voice
Right? It’s crazy
He is awesome never seen him would like to though great writing simple and ballsy would also like to see him with John Hammond and Joe Bonamassa saw John when Tabacco Road in Miami was around
Nominated for 9 Grammy Awards and received "numerous" other musical awards. So, there's that.... But that voice, um um um. 💦 😜
No taking anything away from Joe Bonamossa, but John Hiatt is a songwriting treasure.
Still watching in 2024.
Master performance from two legends. That lyric: "the family graves keep winking " is pure brilliance......
Yes, those words grabbed me, too. Incredibly poignant! Very sad. Hope they’re not calling out to him too persuasively…….
Great lyrics, the winkin is cool, but the drummin gets louder day by day Long like this Master of music.
Bryan did great ..New Brand is on. 🎉

I think Hiatt's emotional delivery on this really rocketed Joe's solo to the next level! True musical synergy!
Incredible heart they should absolutely do an album together I would Love to see them live truly Amazing like lightening erupting from the ground both of them equally superior
Joe sounds like he's played that solo every day of his life. Amazing
Can't stop listening. Stabs at my heart,
And then that thunderous, chilling solo
Leads me down a path of no return.

I wholeheartedly agree!! Best music I've ever heard!! I'm 64!!
amen u said it ALL..... saw Haitt.... 4 musicians and wives /gf,s...... WE were NOT quiet!! LOL
Just love the line " . . .my grandpa told me not to worry . . .". What a song!
I can listen to this this all day. Mr. Hiatt has a hell of a voice.
John is singing like Elliott Murphy.
And one hell of a style
Solo is a masterpiece
Holy crap! Just hearing/seeing this for the first time. Speechless. F'😅ing powerful!!
In my top 5 guitar solos. Just can’t get over how perfect it fits with this song.
Just amazing. Thanks to Mr. Bonamassa for helping further expose the world to the amazing songwriting of John Hiatt. Too freakin' cool.
I got goose bumps down around my place.
I got them all over the place!

Its a wonderfull voice

An absolutely wonderful song, and the solo Joe did ...... Wow

There's just something about that solo that makes my hair stand on end..of all the material Bonamassa has released, it remains my favorite solo of his
That solo is so appropriate to the feeling of the song. Great stuff.
the chromatic cord just after he starts the solo is almost better than sex .
So much emotion in such a short lick
Tylerforeman1000 Joe took the song organically to the next level. Hope he and Hiatt record together.
I agree.
Right now that PLACE IS KENTUCKY! They need Gods grace!
Just simply gobsmackingly amazing.
For me, Joe's best solo ever!
I just heard this for the first time. I'm in shock and awe. Badass song.

Bonamassa's solo is an Eargasm. The album version of John Hiatt is great, but this performance of them together...
songwriting and poetry.
Best solo I've ever heard. Fits the song so well.
Great song by Hiatt and of course Bonamassa, he is a giant!

He is singing with the MASTER that is John Hiatt sit back and enjoy
When you hear great lyrics like this, you realise how trivial so many songs are, however good the music may sound.
Next time you're in Eugene Oregon...you're very welcome 'Down Around my Place'. Bring the Boys!
