Don't forget about Siskel and Ebert.
I'll never understand why spellcheck always indicates that Siskel is spelled incorrectly.

I read the novel 52 Pick-Up was based on and it had a comic tone that's absent in the movie. Such a shame that the Blu Ray is out of print because it's a good thriller and Frankenheimer's comeback after a series of lousy B movies.

I wouldn't say the comedic tone was totally absent, there are scenes like Bobby shooting up Alan's pad that seem to exist to amuse the audience, but I also agree with Siskel that the movie "really lingered" over the sex and violence. I didn't mind it as much as he did, but it's noticeable.

So it turns out they didn't review Howard the Duck either, although it was on the Worst of 1986 show.

52 Pick up is pretty okay, it's rough in places. I liked it.

Tai-Pan eventually was named one of the worst films of 1986 by them. Good to see the original review.

I thought this was the Nobody's Fool with Paul Newman and said, no way that was 1986! Turns out there are a lot of films with this title.

Titles aren't copyrighted so you can use them in different films, although the plots have to be different.

What is Gene talking about?! These creeps work in the porn world! Sex, drugs and violence run hand and hand! It's the world these people live in. 52 Pick Up is one of the best thrillers I have ever seen and that is because the writing is so good, the direction is so crisp and the performances are so spot on. It's a great film! It's certainly the best film Cannon ever released!!

What's interesting to note that it was actually the second adaptation of 52-Pick Up. The first was made two years earlier and it's called The Ambassador. Almost nothing from the book was used for that film. The story went from being about a Detroit business man being blackmailed to a US Ambassador to Israel caught up in political intrigue.

@@ricardocantoral7672 yeah, I saw it on UA-cam because I heard it was also based on the same story as 52 Pick up. It wasn't good. Even Robert Mitchum wasn't very good in it.

I wish I had checked this out earlier today, before I rented that piece of garbage "Nobody's Fool," what a WORTHLESS, HORRIBLE movie! Oh my GOD it is so bad, beyond words. I couldn't make it past halfway. And the screenwriter seems to have a thing against cats or something, it's truly sick.
