This is exactly what I need for my Q5. I think the sub is the same. Did the harness from JL just connected to the factory wires? or you had to do some soldering?
You could attach to the factory wires, and would require some soldering. I don’t think it will work very well… you need to at least amply the sub with a sub amp (you could feed the amp with the factory speaker wires (speaker level input) and then drive the JL sub. A better solution is to replace all speakers like I have done, and drive with a new multichannel amp. See all my other vids from this one (no. 01) to the final (no. 12). Cheers
Can you just "plug and play" the woofer or do you need a line out converter + amp? Looks great! How does it sound now? Would you recommend another woofer/new sub? Sorry for the questions.. Just got an audi q3 2018 with bose. All is rather fine for the bose audio, but the bass is just boomy with the sub and the indoor woofers.

It was an Audi Q3 Bose sub. Removed the cover you refer to and the JL sub fits into the existing hole. Needed to make plywood spacers as you see. Also use heat gun to distort the Bose box so the magnet would fit.

I’m looking to rewire my Bose sub to new pioneer sub is it necessary to install a new amp?

I would like to do the same with my Q5, but I am too afraid of adding an external amp. A simple driver improvement might work for me.

with the big woofer you will need an amp for sure
What type of plywood did you use as the mounting bracket?
Nothing special. Softwood, 12mm and 9mm stuck together with PVA if I recall correctly..
