    I live is South Florida and they are everywhere. They are cute and come in different sizes, eat bugs and just chill. I love these little guys.

      Same here, Michael. In Tagalog they are called, "butiki," pronounced "boo-TEE-key." I like watching them and studying their mannerisms ... I know they are doing their part eating up mosquitos and other pests.

    Hawaii has those "legged snakes" also, they get all the bugs in the house that you don't get with the swatter 😅

    The geckos eat flies and aints in our house.
    Helpful, our cat in turn controls the geckos population 😂

    They are harmless and good insect control! Keep them around ( the exterior of the house)

      I like them, and think the big ones look cool. We had a mouse or rat in our attic that just disappeared. I think that big one got it

    Dropping it was class........I have around four patrolling my home. They are fun to watch and keep all the other creepies in check.

    Geckos are in the PC video game Fallout 2 (1999?) when your character is starting out with little-to-no weaponry. They're also in high end luxury resorts in the Philippines, you know, with the nipa hut room over the water.

      I like them, except for when you wake up in the morning, and there’s crap on the walls. The big ones crap is like bird poop😂

    Those are harmless. I live in Florida and see all types of lizards, snakes, mosquitos, alligators, and flying roaches. Plus hot and humid weather, so I should feel at home in the Philippines.

    They eat small insects like roaches. They are good for controlling pest. The other smaller lizards the brown ones eat mosquitoes and flys.

      They have a nasty bite. I’d hate to get bitten by an adult. They eat birds and rodents

    Heh Kevin, dam gecko’s would make me go on a mission to get them out of the house. Question: I think there more active at night so do they mess with you while your sleeping? Or just chirp all night?

    No, Kevin, he IS saying "F#@K YOU!". I think you should try nets to catch them. I would think there are some ultrasonic pest devices to scare them away you could get for them. Small ones in the Keys were so common I used to cut their shapes in black foam sheets and sell them as book marks. They'd always get caught in door jams and crushed.

    They are normal in the Philippines. They stay on wall and I stay in bed. No problem so far.
    I got better things to chase in bed than a lizard on the wall. 🤣🤣.

      Yes! They are VERY beneficial. I think that big one got rid of a mouse/rat that we had in our attic 😉

      You know, it’s crazy in the Philippines….cats and dogs get along here. Cats don’t chase things like they do in the US. I’ve seen pigeons walk right up to cats in Valencia.

    If that size gecko can get into your apartment, then so can the snakes, even a small Philippines cobra, which would be far scarier to see slithering around the floor than a gecko on the wall.

      Yes, most doors here are inefficient. We do have tree vipers in the property next door. Fortunately we have only had non venomous snakes that I have seen around the house. The gecko got in through my shower window though

      @@TooMuchTimeonmyHands65 I would like to see a tree viper when I get to the Philippines. I had snakes as pets when I was younger & was always fascinated by them but I wouldn't want to step on a poisonous one.

      I've never heard of a Phillipines cobra..... Do they have the hood and spit like Indian cobras do ?

    Meh, part of living in the tropics. I don’t mind these kind of critters. I’d much rather have a house gecko than have a house with the things the gecko eats.

    The gecko's aren't so bad. We have lots. I do their clicking noises and they come over and look at me like 'now what'? It's the 7" long spiders that this arachnophobiac can't handle. And the kids play with the spiders 🤯

      My friend in the province has a big one that lives under his bed. It comes out when he turns his table lamp on. He named it Gary. He’s not afraid of humans 😂

    Bruh, I don't think I had ever seen a gecko at my house until after Hurricane Katrina, then there were hundreds of them under my carport.... After a few years they were gone, no idea where they came from or went to....... Most were the size of the little green lizards so no 1 footers.... We would have seasoned those up and threw em on the grill 😂😂😂😂

    What are some things you would definitely bring if you could go back before your "one way ticket"? My one way is in the beginning of September. I know I'll pack some Tony Chacherez's and file'...not sure what else might not be available (at least as far as cooking supplies). Hot sauce? Maybe some louisiana fish fry? Old bay seasoning?
    Anyway, who dat?! Hope to meet you when I'm in the area for a lookaround. I'm about 80% sure that I'll settle around Tagaytay for the weather and I'll make an etoufee if you visit.
