I have to admit that I admire Father Phil and his vast knowledge. Not only that, but despite not being too far off of my own age, he has retained a childlike quality which I believe is essential in keeping one's passion alive and kicking. You can see it come to the fore momentarily as his voice suddenly becomes treble and he darts around the shop at lightning speed. As soon as you have camera and mic on him, he's gone again! I sincerely and honestly envy him that. Lose your passion and you lose the ability to learn. Father Phil is a true gem.
7:23 "without any potholes we'll be back in tonight" - and that's the point at which the kiss of death was administered!! 🙃
Although in terms of catching nasty problems when the time was right, I'd say it was a good days work. Great looking workspace now after the clearout and the new lights.
Father Phil’s knowledge never ceases to amaze me and the fact he’s self taught. Some man.
Father Phil is the tractor world version of Edd China. Years of experience that he's had in mechanical items is clear to see. We all learn something new from listening to him and the patient way he explains things, just class .
Good to see progress on the 1200, father Phill is in his element there
Father Phil and Lee are genus’s glad they know how to put things back.We marvel at them.💟💟🎅🎅🤶🤶🤶🌅⛄️⛄️⛄️⛄️⛄️🧐🧐🧐
Love listening to father phil talking , l haven't 1 fucking clue what about anything his saying but he knows his stuff.
Your dad a very smart man with a great memory
This farm has great upcycling practices. The master mechanic assigns a dedicated barrel to each component during examination and rebuilding! Great video keep up the good work.
Like the uncle Ian tractor videos phil. I can't wait to see it completed. Father is just so amazing. It's good to see everybody involved. Hopefully, next year, it will be in the tractor parade .
Good man Phil for mentioning that tractor run. You always have time for my fellow with special needs.
Farmer Phil is fairly smart man I never listened to someone yap on about something so long and we neeeeeeed more shed videos 😁
@ 23:36 "....That's the front hub of the 3690 that came loose on me 22 years ago." Gas man.
Great to watch will be great tractor when finished
goes to show how well the Massey boys designed and built the machinery very simple but by jaysus were they built to last
Father Phil is right about a MF 188 we had one years ago, we used to pick up silage using it and a Newholland 717 in heavy swards it worked hard at it, but it was a champion to pull a trailer with loads in soft going it had the heavy centre's all round ❤❤
Can’t wait to see her on the semi mounted plough that will be some sight
It’s very interesting watching Derek / father Phil work and Lee really knows his stuff. Great video guys
Great video. Fair play Phil for helping advertise the run👍
Father phill is a top notch mechanic
all coming along well Phil. having you and liv to do the farm work really lets your dad and lee work on this. fingers crossed it will be ready before the slurry starts in January as id say once that date kicks in there wont be much time for it. great to see the little intricacies of the inner workings of the tractor. Father Phil is very good at explaining all these mechanisms
hi phil another brilliant video father phil has an amazing knowledge of the masseys and lee is a big help to him also /will the next project be the ferguson
Thanks Phil, great vlog as usual.... hope young Eoghans tractor run is a great success. Sounds like a brave young man.... 👍
Set a few lift covers up in the eighties, dead easy with the churchill tools, thought father phil would have changed the seal on the lift piston while you had it all stripped down
Loved the story about when it stopped.
Good luck with Eoghans home run. Well done for organising the event.
Great content need more like that for the not mechanical minded viewers get father phil a camera for christmass
Have a good one👍
The return of story time! Brilliant 😊 workshop looks fantastic now with the insulation and new lights
Father Phil definitely needs his own camera 📷 😊
Be a shortage of yellow paint in Longford next week 😂 sounds like Father Phil is going to have a 188 for the workshop soon
Father Phil has some amount of knowledge 👏 he is like an encyclopedia on Masseys some man for one man Lee is a good man also will learn a lot from your Dad Phil.
Great video Phil. As always Father Phil has so much knowledge on mechanics along with everything else that’s he’s an expert on. Lee looks like he’s also very knowledgeable on the Massey. Enjoyed watching. 👍🏼
Had a db1212 on a 717 back in mid ‘70s. I’d say the 188 gave it a good spin too. Great work lads, hope ye have it together before the pipes are out..
Great video Phil that’s a serious job yous are doing on it father Phil has some knowledge he’s like a walking encyclopedia on Massey’s
So much brighter in the shed now.
You can save a powerful lot of money by doing all that work yourself. With the u-joints, I like to use my 4x4 front axle service kit. It’s a big c-clamp with a big screw for pushing and pulling. Works a treat.
Merry Christmas 🤶 🎄 fp and family
We used to cut the tail of the PTO brake piston which had the spring and circlip on and tap and plug brake cylinder to increase brake pressure. Lost a lot of oil out there as no seal fitted.
Great video phill, more of the buck in the garage the longer the better very interesting stuff. Give father phill a head mount on the camera very knowable
That is a common fault in the Massey's, the all have the PTO turning
Hi Phil, it looked like Father Phil was having fun. Nice to have a warm shop to work in.
Funny Fr. Pil showing his hands. I was looking at your hands just then to see who felt the oil for metal filings. :)
The shed looks a lot warmer now.
Great stuff! Keep the mechanical videos coming, more detailed the better
Great to see the manual is coming in useful 👍
Father Phil is the irish version of bundy bear.....except with steel toe caps
Great video. Interesting finds… better to discover all the issues when you’re doing the refurb. I spent my youth on MF188s, three of them all bought new in Tullamore Motor Works. They worked hard at silage contracting and were all trouble free… one of them was out of service for a few weeks in the early ’80s while awaiting a PTO seal like the one Father Phil fitted on the 1200… none available due to a strike at Banner Lane. We got a loaner MF188 from the Dealer to keep us going at the time. Keep up the good work.
The Co op, Pat and Tom rip
Deadly bit a content make sure get another 40min video on the massy in workshop for next week aswel now Phil ha
Such an interesting series to watch. Father Phil and Lee make a great team and have so much knowledge between them
Love the shout out, proper job young man! ❤
Done that many times Hot and cold on the bearings. Mrs not happy 🤣with her roast pots and feezer with her peas 😆😆😆
Definitely going to be worth all the work Phil. Hopefully will be nice to see it all out back together for the start of the new year
Never seen the shed so clean
It's good to see that you are back working on the MF 1200
I swear, most people would look at a tractor and see a big machine. Your father can look at the same piece of equipment and see a collection of moving parts.
The brackets on the cross member are definitely an add on,looking good👍
Brilliant video Phil, Father Phil is the man. He is machanical genius 👍.
Great vid Phil and Father Phil. Well done Eoghan.
22:46 A friend picked up something (lets say a bearing) he knew better and quickly dropped it. I asked with a grin, "Hot"? He responded, "No, it just doesn't take me long to look at a bearing". 😉
An absolute amazing video everyone, some knowledge on display, onwards and upwards, top job
Merry Christmas to all this festive season 🎄✌️🙏😇
nic video, great to see progrees in the 1200 and in the garage is all clean, and father phil seems need a bench work bigger now
I have to say i really enjoy watching these videos and learning how stuff works, so thanks for sharing buddy and keep up the good work. I hope once she is blasted it will be getting epoxy primer on the bare metal rather than an etch or wash primer. Epoxy should see it last a lot longer
Nice video lads very interesting seeing back end ripped
Fascinating video lads. Every day is a learning day with father Phil, he knows his stuff!
Great progress lads. Getting her done 👍
Great video of some serious work on the 1200. It will be like new when you get it done. Are you going to spray it yellow or back to red Phil? Best of luck with the refurbishment. 👍
Yellow
Great video Phil, nice to see the progress
Not long enough enjoyed every minute of it
Enjoying series on the 1200 👍vid I have just bought a 1250 so finding this very interesting thanks
Check out Massey Dave if you have a 1250 , that’s where Father Phil is getting his parts and 1200/1250 knowledge from
@@78mikehayes Hi I asked Massey Dave for price for some parts he didn't get back to me have you still got your 1200 enjoyed your vid
@@nickhill3362 if you check Massey Dave’s videos now you’ll see that he’s restoring a 1200 at the moment which is nearly finished. That’s my 1200. I also took my own 1250 over to him which he will hopefully get going on that in the new year. Dave is also putting a list together of all the 1200/1250’s still on the go. I’m surprised if he hasn’t responded, he’s usually pretty sharp on that.
@@78mikehayesHi Massey Dave has got in touch and we have discussed parts now 👍 Your 1200 looks Great it looks a massive undertaking to get to that excellent standard I'm going to tidy my 1250 up and get it mechanically sound for now its a little rough a power station has had it from new it's on Dave's register
@@nickhill3362 brilliant! It’s good to keep the old girls alive and it’ll be interesting to see how many are still on the go and what corner of the planet they are in. Don’t be afraid to throw a few videos of yours up on UA-cam or Facebook etc.
That's super work farmer Phil
Great video. Very interesting.
Now the question is will you have it all together and running at the end of the year
did my massey 398 pto clutch pack last year exacly the same as your 1200 having the pto plates warm and the pto constantly running
Great vid Phil. I remember the 188 picking up grass when I was about 7. Love get one to father Phil. Is Lee from nl Ireland????
The best of luck with the tractor run eoin ,I can't make up for Cork,
if need someone to set lever on draft there is someone in ballina co mayo do them on old weight system if want the number.
Well done
More cattle videos phil and feeding??
Who built up and turned the shaft for ye?
Id vote for a father phil blog 👍
Can't bait farmer Phil on a Tuesday evening after the spuds 🚜

Good stuff
Good video ❤❤❤❤
great progress , i would like to know a bit about that workshop heater is it a home made job ?
You need to do a cameo with evenflow x
Very good video Lee is a great help to father phil
Ye must love torture at that tractor
A very knowledge man 👍👍👍👍👍
Wen is the new farm shop billed going to start
incredible knowledge and skill to put that back together- very impressive… get a carbon monoxide alarm now your shed is sealed- oil burners potentially lethal!!
2 of them in there
Hi Phil
Are you painting the entire tractor yellow or are some parts going to be silver ?
Personally i would paint the rims ,grille surround and roof silver but its up to the owners preference
It’ll be yellow where the red is and the rest original
Conatys........ring ring 😂
Father Phil is a genius and Lee is pretty good as well.Father Phil has some amount of mechanical knowledge, Hes6 a super brain.is he selt taught.
I never saw a mf1200 pulled apart before, looks almost like a stock mf188. did any companies convert tractors into pivot steers like how this is done.
You had doe tractors and Chaffer made selproplled sprayers out of tractors pivot steers
@@FARMERPHIL3690 I knew about the doe models, but chaffer is new to me. It's sad there's not more, but i guess it makes sense to build a pivot steer from scratch like matbro and mercedes benz did.
Brillant video Phil
Father Phil forgot more than most ever knew
Great video phil
Looks like lee will be around til next year now, it was before Christmas a while back 😂
Find it under stairs in a box
Farmer Phil father Jack needs drink l thinks glad not
Milk float 😂
Did you ever find the cause of the dreaded ER 1077 error code on the 6480?
Unfortunately not no
