5 AMAZING SpaceX Rocket Landing Videos (Engineering Masterpiece)

  • Historically, most rockets have needed to use all of their available fuel in order to get their payload into space. SpaceX rockets were built from the beginning with reusability in mind-they have enough built-in fuel margin to deliver a Dragon to the space station and return the first-stage to Earth. That extra fuel is needed to reignite the engines a few times to slow the rocket down and ultimately land the first stage after it has sent the spacecraft on its way.
    In addition to extra fuel the rocket has small, foldable heat-resistant wings called grid fins needed for steering the first-stage as it plummets from the edge of space through Earth’s atmosphere, cold-gas thrusters on the top of the first-stage that are used to flip the rocket around as it begins its journey back to Earth, and strong but lightweight carbon fiber landing legs are deployed as it approaches touchdown. All of these systems, while built and programmed by humans, are totally automated once the rocket is launched-and are reacting and adjusting their behavior based on incoming, real-time data.

I can’t see any side retro booster type things ( I am not sure what they are called )to rectify this. If this is real then it’s very clever, but I have doubts.

      There are "grid fins" on the side of each booster, near the top, that it can pivot to steer itself. These provide additional drag. As for how it slows down so quickly - keep in mind that despite the size of the booster, it's actually not very heavy at this point. It's mostly an empty tank, because it already spent most of its fuel during the ascent. It doesn't take much force to slow something down that has very little mass.
      Additionally, each engine has something called 'thrust vectoring', which means each engine can individually tilt its nozzle to provide thrust in a certain direction, rather than straight down. This is used for fine steering once it's almost at the pad. This is very noticeable in video 4, when the booster is off-course and is trying desperately to correct itself, so it uses every method it has - grid fins, thrust vectoring, and even RCS (reaction control system), the puffs of gas near the top.

      I think people who say it's fake are kinda dumb actually. With all the self stabilizing tech we have like drones that perfectly balance themselves and do insane computer controlled maneuvers. It's not hard to believe at all that you can apply similar software technology to a rocket and just program it for different vectors using the grid fins, side thrusters and vectoring the nozzle. You just program it to conteract forces. Of course the engineering to do this with a rocket is insane, I'm not diminishing it, but anyone who thinks this is too advanced to be believable is a simpleton with no understanding of technology.

      it can move in a circle like up to 45 to 70 degrees ac comping with the top one thrusters to balance the rocket while landing and as those rockets are not leaving earth so they dont need extra fule tanks and thursters as the extra thrusters are only needed to increase the speed of the rocket so that it can enough speed to leave earths magnetic field

    • @derek3822
      @derek3822 4 роки тому

      although you might think it could sink, that is simply not the case. I don't have a large understanding of how the falcon 9 rockets work, but im sure they lose a lot of weight after MECO. but you have to understand that ships can hold large amounts of weight, and I don't know what its called in physics, but an example are cargo ships-they carry tons and tons of cargo, so just because something is heavy, doesn't mean something on water can't hold it. I understand how it can be a little skeptical to you, but physics is confusing to me too.

    • @Jeff-cr9ho
      @Jeff-cr9ho 6 років тому

      I do see what you are talking about the outline of the rocket looking fake. But just because something looks fake doesn't mean it actually is- what appears to be sloppy editing around the edges of the rocket is actually something else- refraction of light due to the hot air that the rocket is descending down into, a second or two behind the thrusters. It is the same effect that you get when you look above the surface of hot pavement on a sunny day- the hot air causes visual distortions in the air. Im sure you know what effect I am referring to..
      If someone really wanted to fake a video to convince the masses then they wouldn't have included this visual effect, since it does make the video look fake if you don't realize what you are actually looking at.
      Besides, it is actually quite easy to make a fake video that looks flawlessly real (Hollywood does it all the time), so to suggest that Space X put out such a lousy fake doesn't really make any sense when you consider all the resources they have.

      The one question I'm asked most often is, "Did they find any life on the moon that they're keeping secret?" I was not privy to that information. But It seems to me that if there was intelligent life on the far side of the moon, we would have continued flying there and we probably would have built a lunar colony. By the way, I am really pissed off that we never built a lunar colony in the almost fifty years since we first landed. We wasted all those years when we could have learned how to live on another world. What a great training ground it would have been for a Mars colony!
