Great review! I did a PXG Iron fitting a couple of days ago and we landed on the 0317T. The club felt amazing and I was hitting it really well during the session. I have not placed the order yet, but pretty sure that will be happening soon.
Just ordered 6-PW. I've been waiting for this one. I love my Gen 4 0311Ps, but I like a narrower sole and profile in the scoring clubs. I will likely end up doing a combo set, 5-7 in my current 0311Ps and 8-PW with the 0317T. But we'll see! Excited to hit them.
I have them, but went back to my Mizunos. Nothing wrong with the 0317T. They are higher, a bit farther but not as shapeable compared to my beloved Mizunos. 🥰
Thanks. The GEN6 will give you a little more pop and distance, and forgiveness, but the 0317 T should let you work the ball more and probably have better feel at impact. - DD
Ordered the black 0317T 4-pw during the March CT Golf Show. I’m yet to get an actual delivery date. The guy who did the fitting told me probably May. I’m sure it will be worth it but a shame they are so far back ordered.
Great video David , currently waiting for these to be available to test in Western Australia as a possible alternative to my JPX 923 Tours, how do you think they might compare I’m after a little more distance ??
Sorry for the late reply. I suspect that the 0317 T will give you slightly more distance than the JPX 923 Tour because I think the heads are a touch bigger, but I'm not 100% sure about that. If you are looking for more distance in a better-player's iron, maybe try the Callaway Apex Tour, TaylorMade P770 or the Titleist T150. Those will definitely give you more pop. You might also like the Ping Blueprint S. - Enjoy Oz. DD
My question is related to the construction of the head. I understand that it is forged, however is that only the body and not the face? I read somewhere that the face is stainless steel. I currently play the 311P Gen4 and would like a club with a little less offset and with a little more playability.
This could be exactly what you are looking for. Less offset, thinner sole and topline and designed to be more workable. Bring your GEN4 P irons to the fitting and compare. You might even consider a split set with GEN4 P at the top and the 0317 T starting around the 7-iron. Just a thought.- DD
nice irons and great review....i am torn between the 317T's and the 311 p / xp......I am 58....8 handicap...looking for forgiveness and distance too....which would you think ? have a driver swing speed of around 90-94 mph.......thx....cheers from Canada
If forgiveness and distance are you two biggest priorities, I think you will probably be happier with the 0311 P than the 0317 T The polymer in the 0311 is a little better at providing ball speed and ball speed protection. The 0317's polymer is made to provide a firmer feel and spin consistency. Thanks for the comment and I hope you will consider subscribing to my channel. - DD
That’s a great question. I haven’t hit i230 in a long time, but they are cut from similar clothe. I think i230 will look slightly more solid and appear to have a marginally-thicker topline, but they’re comparable irons. Thanks for the question and I hope you will consider subscribing to my channel. - DD
The 0317 T has a shorter blade length, less offset and a thinner topline that the 0311 T GEN5, but if very similar in size and shape to the 0317 CB. If there is a difference between the T and the CB, it’s only a millimeter or two. The biggest difference is the T is hollow while the CB is solid metal. - DD
I think you will definitely feel a difference and get more spin from the 0317 PW and GW, but you will want to be careful about the loft/distance gaps. The GEN6 P irons have slightly stronger lofts, so be careful your distance gap between the GEN6 P 9-iron and the 0317 T PW does not create a problem. Also, if you are thinking about going this way, you could also look at the appropriately-lofted PXG Milled wedges or another brand's wedges. Many now offer clubs from 46 to 60 degrees, so you might want to explore going with "irons" up to a 9-iron, then "wedges" starting with your pitching wedge instead of using a pitching wedge and gap wedge that come with an iron set. Either way, let me know what you decide and I hope you'll subscribe to my channel. - DD
First one here again!!!! As usual I win a set of PXG clubs courtesy of David Dusek Golf. Thanks again David.
These irons look great. I’m not a fan of the typical PXG look but everything in the 0317 line is sexy. These might be the irons that get me to switch
Very good review.....

Great breakdown on the irons...
I currently play the gen 6 and was considering the 0317 T.

Mine are being delivered today🎉
Hi have you hit them yet ? How do they compare to the outgoing Gen 0311 T size look and feel ?
Do you currently play PXG irons? Let me know what you think of the 0317 T irons after you have played a few rounds with them. - DD

These are real contenders to replace my gen 3 0311Ts. They look way, way better than the new Ps.

Would you say this more or less forgiving than a Ping i230?

Hi David
How do these compare in size and profile compared to the 0311 T gen 5 and the 0317 CB ?
The 0317 T has a shorter blade length, less offset and a thinner topline that the 0311 T GEN5, but if very similar in size and shape to the 0317 CB. If there is a difference between the T and the CB, it’s only a millimeter or two. The biggest difference is the T is hollow while the CB is solid metal. - DD
What di you think if I replace in my Gen6 P series the W and G with same clubs of this 0317T ??
I think you will definitely feel a difference and get more spin from the 0317 PW and GW, but you will want to be careful about the loft/distance gaps.
