Just throwing it out there; there’s also a comic showing when Riley and Ellie first meet that’s great. It’s called The Last Of Us: American Dreams. It references stuff in this dlc like the “almost killing” Riley thing, and their first encounter with Fireflies, as well as Winston. There are also references in tlou2 to the Halloween shop. I also never noticed the parallels between Dina and Riley; they both pull her out of her shell to dance, they both give her puns (in different ways), they’re both just great, and it’s making me realise how perfect Dina was for her.
Dina tells the jokes in Part 2 because she remembers who Ellie was before the truth of what Joel did broke her. So the Ellie we see is a traumatized, heartbroken Ellie who only gets some of that back when she retires to the farm with Dina and JJ.
I just realized, when Ellie got the med-kit said "I'm not letting you go", she meant Joel, too. She knew he was going to die unless she got it. She got the means of helping him, and at that moment was able to say that and for it to be the truth.
True that, it's also the same with part 2 itself for me, the pacing and odd story beats make way more sense and it feels totally different when playing it the second time. I'm also way less anxious and stressed out.

It was only a bit odd in the beginning of the game (the "swear to me" moment), but at that point in the game she was extremely tired and beat up, so I think they made it so that she had sore eyes and a couple bruises. Hence why she looked just fine in the birthday flashback for example

Naturally the graphics of TLOU2 are more realistic with current technology, but the character design itself in the first game felt more real, natural, and effortless.

It's okay that they're cute (and we're all used to how it looks) but if you took off the skin and only looked at the bones it'd be terrifying. In order to age Ellie up, they had to change her proportions to be more human-like, even though she would look a bit different from Part I.

I’ve played and watched this DLC literally DOZENS of times. Idk what it was this time.... when they got to the whole scene where they were dancing and the kiss, I literally just started crying. This is that much sadder when u know the type of person Ellie becomes in TLOU2....

Left Behind is really good. Seeing this DLC again also just reminds that I like the first TLOU more than the sequel. I replayed the sequel again not to long ago and while definitely has some strong moments, Part II never reaches the same height as TLOU 1 + Left Behind. The writing was just that much better in the original.
So true. I decided to buy the remastered tlou a couple of months ago and playing through it again, this time in 60fps, reminded me how much better an experience it is compared to part 2.
Agreed, I think having Ellie be alone for most of the game just slaughtering people while just telling the story in cut-scenes was a bad choice. In addition packaging "part 3" aka Abby's part after that cliff-hanger also wasn't ideal, I would've preferred that either as a quick flash-back or, you know, just make a game about Abby et al and shock us with the last mission going to Jackson to kill Joel. I'm sure they considered all of that, imho they chose wrong
Oh also cascina, when you throw a brick or bottle at an enemy and it gets stunned, run up and stab it for a 1 hit kill. Much easier than trying to shoot in a panic

The story in part 2 was phenomenal and I still refer to that as the greatest achievement in storytelling via video games, but God DAMN do I love Left Behind with every ounce of my being and nothing will top it. It's one of those things that came into my life at the perfect time. Can't wait to cry again while you play it!
Last of Us 1 is awesome. 11/10. Had the main menu music playing in the background because I loved it so much at home. Last of Us pt 2, not so much praise. Nooooo I'm not a hater because of the leaks and aftermath of part 2. But Last of Us just hits home. I'll always love the first one.
