@@Algrenion He has probably seen so much gore he views himself above basic human empathy. But he does make good videos just not necessarily giving the most respect to the victims.
There's no "moral murkiness" at all, it doesn't retroactively become more acceptable to have committed random murders just because it was found out later that drugs were likely involved. The captain and crew would have had no way of knowing that and never once used it as a defense of their actions, strengthening the idea that they had no idea. They would have killed these people regardless.
Not to mention, those people weren't some sort of drug kingpins profiting from the heroin trade. In Middle-Eastern countries, the people that profit from the heroin trade are terrorist organizations. They have slave labor to harvest the Poppy plants, process it into heroin, and distribute it, and the terrorist organization takes all the profit and use it to wage their "holy war", where they ironically kill those that use drugs because it's a "sin". Which means, the people that were transporting those drugs were forced to do it. It makes it even more disturbing that they were killed, they were doing a job that they were forced to do it by terrorists, then killed by proud thugs. A group of psychopaths that use boats for committing crimes at the sea. So they’re the pirates of the history. A different case of serial killers, that happens at the ocean.
Nahhh, even Blackbeard doesn’t kill people, he only intimidates them because he was a smart man not a violent one. He knows how to use his infamy to his advantage so that he won’t have to kill people.
Many pirates of the past didn’t kill. They were officials of different colonial countries. Their objective was to loot every ship and coastal settlement of other colonial countries.
The world of snuff films is such a scary thing to think about. There’s a Spanish film called “Tésis” which explores the concept in a thrilling way. But thinking about the isolation of the sea being interrupted by merciless killing is so terrifying
It's really disturbing how the story behind the video is of an unstable captain convinced that pirates were after him and he decided to execute anyone not on the fleet on sight. And it was because someone else decided to film the whole thing that he was eventually caught. But imagine if he wasn't, how many more could've died?
I don't buy that at all. This wasn't paranoia, it was cruelty. They knew they weren't pirates, they thought they were fishing vessels there to compete with them for fish. The "pirate" nonsense was just an excuse.
That captain deserves much more than just 13 years it’s sickening what people can do with little to no consequences. If it wasn’t for the people filming, no one would have known these people were murdered.
Yeah, it's wild how people get more years for inconsequential shit but these poor excuses of human beings, actual serial killers, get nothing. What a shit world we live in.
I read that his sentence was 13 years because they could only prove, without a shadow of doubt, that one of the 4 men was murdered by him. The rest of the deaths cannot be punished by law, because there is no proof of them (although I have no doubt that they happened). The most infuriating thing is that the rest of the crew were not charged, considering that what can be seen of them in video does not match their stories of "the captain made us do it", it is quite obvious that they were part of what happened, and that they had the same sadistic intentions.
what like 35 men deceased, a serial killer getting 13 years 😂 laughable , even for the 4 men that were on the video, 13 years, incredible how little they value human lives
I read that his sentence was 13 years because they could only prove, without a shadow of doubt, that one of the 4 men was murdered by him (although 13 years is still low for one murder). My theory is that the Taiwanese ships were also smuggling drugs and wanted to eliminate competition. I'm also going to make the assumption that the Taiwanese government has some corruption and knows about these activities but they're helping to keep it covered up, so they only charged the captain with murder to give him the smallest punishment possible while also keeping others from digging into these activities.

to my understanding, the story with the "shaking and hesitating" statement was during the nighttime gunning, which isn't the same gunning incident seen in the videos, which took place in daytime. whether or not they were lying though-
"the victims may have been smuggling drugs" okay? literally who cares if that's what they were doing? how does that detract from the fact they were ruthlessly slaughtered with no reason? even if anyone thought that is a just response to smuggling drugs, how the hell would the crew of those ships, who shot them to death, would KNOW they were committing ANY crime? it's beyond me that anyone might think that *the victims POTENTIALLY being drug smugglers makes the events of that day morally "murky"
Yeah and also let's not forget a lot of people are driven to do those kinds of work when they're poor, there's a reason why people are in these kinds of jobs so often because people dont have any other choice
They were not pirates. They were fishermen. I came across this video a few years ago. A Chinese or Taiwanese vessel was involved and it’s captain did most of the killings. They rammed the fishermen’s boat. And while they were executed one after the other, they begged for their lives to be spared. They screamed “No pirates! No pirates!!!”

its genuinely the scariest thing ever. it somewhat reminds me of a gang rape case that went viral in germany last year, where the victim was drunk and got gangraped and robbed, then when she searched for help and stumbled across two men, they just assaulted her again. its so scary how some people see people in need and decide to be so sadistic and cruel about it. the men and boys involved only got probation btw, with one or two receiving a couple years of jail, and some getting away with no punishment because they were holding the camera and "their dna wasnt found". humanity is full of sht
I'd edit out that morally murky line. Nothing about shooting unarmed individuals after you smashed their boat is morally gray. This is the behavior of a psychopath, not some fisherman who's worried about pirates.
It’s not even 100% confirmed that every attacked vessel had drugs on it either. The only thing bringing up the theory does is give a reason as to why those vessels were in international waters to begin with. But regardless of why those ships were in those waters, it doesn’t change the fact that the captain’s actions (and the actions of the laughing crew) were wrong. Those small ships could be carrying a crew full of Hitlers and it’d still be wrong, there’s no justification for what they did.
@@seriousnesstv7902 Exactly, it's completely incongruent to everything that was being said the whole video. It's like he wrote the conclusion after only watching the original youtube video.

The captain gets 13 years in prison for approximately 35 murders at sea--that's not long enough. And none of the other crew were held accountable. These four men were helpless and unarmed fishermen. How horrific! 😱
Oh god this infamous video of the fishing boat it’s so disturbing. I remembering sawing it on reignnbot channel and how she talked about this event is so disturbing. It’s also weird how nobody would’ve knew this thing happen if someone didn’t leave their phone behind in a taxi

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that the freind who sent her the film was a collector/distributor of snuff films, as they had many other violent videos in their possession.
@jhonklan3794 If what you've stated is true? Then, is it the biggest leap to say these murders were committed for profit? Recording the footage to sell for seedy entertainment. Edit: Ah, as the video suggests lol I should watch the whole vid before commenting in future.

Exactly, Crowley's conclusion makes no sense, unless it's assumed Nick is an absolute retard, based on not updating his pfp pic without a mask, I think stupidity is a good bet.
Because the captain and his crew were a bunch of pirates themselves, eliminating potential competitors would technically always be better for them in the long run since crimes committed in the vast ocean are hardly ever investigated and even if they are the actual chance of the culprit getting caught is next to nil. Besides it's heavily implied that the killing of those 4 unfortunate men was part of a snuff film attempt to earn more cash, so they were essentially killing two birds with one stone by choosing to kill those poor souls

Disgusting all around, those men were failed by the world

It’s not even 100% confirmed that every attacked vessel had drugs on it either. The only thing bringing up the theory does is give a reason as to why those vessels were in international waters to begin with.
But regardless of why those ships were in those waters, it doesn’t change the fact that the captain’s actions (and the actions of the laughing crew) were wrong. Those small ships could be carrying a crew full of Hitlers and it’d still be wrong, there’s no justification for what they did.

I almost forgot about that video. Saw it back in the day. Glad I know more of the backstory now.
Always coming through! Thanx nick. Love and aloha from maui
What would have happened if they’d never found the footage?
What other stories will never see the light of day?
southeast asia has a human trafficking problem on fishing boats for labor. the victims would likely never be reported, since they usually come from desperate, impoverished conditions.

I've been rewatching your older videos for this
Great, I'm going to work on a fishing vessel for the first time, in 2 weeks. And this awful thing just had to cross my screen again
So how is it?
Thanks for this. I’ve always been interested in this video since I saw it on another UA-camrs account 8 years ago. It amazes me how so many other people haven’t talked about this story on UA-cam. I’m happy they at least got one, Wang Feng Yu (even if his sentence was soft) Wild video!
Friday Night ✅
30+ min video ✅
Great creators collab ✅
Yep, it's rabbit hole time!
The article linked in the description is really interesting! I recommend the read, specially Von Hoesslin talk with the captain of the ship, and it gives more insight on the possible reason for the killings.
Very interesting story, great video, thanks for sharing.
First found you through your randonautica video and haven't missed one since, feels like yesterday!
You know it’s gonna be a good day when Nick posts a new video
Now imagine the THOUSANDS of deaths that happen at sea that aren’t recorded.
Uploading on a Friday night. Couldn't have been a better idea Nick!
My 2 favourite narrators collabing ! this was such a good watch hope to see more keep up the good work❤
Didn't watch the video yet but still gave it a like. Because I know when this channel says "dark", they actually deliver.
Just moved houses, this is my first Nick video at the new place. Epic!
I actually moved today as well, so this is my first nick vid in my new place as well😂 hope your first night was good
I'm glad we are not real life friends so I wouldn't have to help you move. I like to help my friends stay put
Same!

Whoa, how did you get nexpo to get through his segment so quickly?? No 10+ second pauses, no gaping silences... I didn't even have to 1.5 the playback!
Seriously, though, I always wondered what became of this case.
13 years for killing 4 people?? Wow that's crazy
