The funny thing is even he said the mogstation is just bad. And people thought I was joking when I said buying FFXIV is hard. I really hope SE will take note of this and start thinking about revamping the whole Mogstation.
And you can see him playing with the Wandering Dramaturge. This is Yasumi Matsuno's character in the game (writer of the all Ivalice lore - FFXII, FFtactics, our Bozja questline etc.). It is really nice to see them play together, and I would dare saying it is safe to assume Sakaguchi could make a guest appearance in upcoming content. ;)
Matsuno also did Vagrant Story and Tactics Ogre. The latter is one of Yoshi-P's favorite games of all times. Neverreap, The Fractal Continuum and Castrum Abania dungeons in XIV drop gear that has designs taken from Tactics Ogre.
@@OskarXCI huh, never realized that. I do like some of that gear but I thought it was referencing other FF material I never got around to playing. Or another Square-Enix RPG, not a series that they didn't create (though they do own the rights to it since 2003 and did a remake in 2010)
When he was still at Square (later Square Enix), Hironobu Sakaguchi insisted that Final Fantasy XI, Square's first MMO, be a numbered Final Fantasy game - and thus be known as a main Final Fantasy game and not as a spinoff - and not something known as "Final Fantasy Online," which some of Square's management had wanted. Sakaguchi left Square in 2001, so it was up to its producer, Hiromichi Tanaka, to fight to keep Final Fantasy XI a numbered Final Fantasy game. It released in 2002. Back in 2012, Square Enix reported that Final Fantasy XI was the most profitable Final Fantasy game ever. Still receiving updates, Final Fantasy XI's 20th anniversary is next year, in 2022.
Which then is directly the reason why FFXIV also became a numbered title, which would then go on to beat out FFXI as the most profitable, crazy how this stuff goes man xD
This would make me really nervous if I was in any way involved with the XIV dev team. It's like the founding dojo master returning to see how his work continues to be build upon years down the line and even tho you know you have many great things to show, somewhere deep inside, you're still scared that he'll absolutely hate it. It's very exciting to see and I am sure he'll have a great time playing the game.
I'd be surprised if he didn't love it, personally. FFXIV is like a love letter to the rest of the series, it's a true Final Fantasy themepark MMO that pays homage to the past while also being a brilliant standalone title by its own merits as well. Especially by the time he finished Shadowbringers and sees all the raids and stuff.
I'd really love to see him interviewed in a couple months to see what he thinks. What he feels about this version of the warrior of light and "our" role in the world.
I can't wait to hear Sakaguchi and Yoshida just talk about stuff. An old legend and a new legend talking about my favorite video game genre, what a treat!
Do you guys think that every time Hironobu Sakaguchi joins a dungeon/trial/raid he just keeps talking how he worked on a FF 30 years ago that first introduced that thing/boss/enemy? "Oh you have it easy, IN MY TIMES bahamut was 30 pixels and had 2kb worth of audio samples and we had to imagine everything"
i feel like a lots of classic final fantasy element has been lost in the translation to the AAA HD game development philosophy and mr sakuguchi too had been expressed this in the past i think, for exemple : the over world or world map in the FF term is no longer a thing since FF9, who can forget the feeling when first time you set foot outside of midgard or balamb garden or evil forest and see the entire world open up?, the modern FF is either a coridor or GTA style island, the world is millions time bigger than the old one in term of physical and graphical but at the same time it feel millions time smaller than ps1 classic or even snes era in term of scale, rob the player the sense of the adventure span in multiple continents across the world. that's why i feel the MMO format with less focus on the graphic and more emphasis on the scale and ever evolving world, truly made FF14 into the most classic FF in modern time for me, so yeah can't wait for their panel and very curious with what they're going to say.
Do cover it all from the game show. I think it’s really awesome that he’s trying the game. Maybe also Square E will fix the game purchase interface once and for all.
I don't know why I never realized it before but seeing Sakaguchi's screenshot of his lala with two other lalas in that early gear for a Gladiator made me realize......Lalfells and Tarutaru from FFXI rreally resemble the old FF sprites and DS remake chibi models.......I wonder if thats an intentional reference
The main problem with actually purchasing XIV and the expansions is that purchasing them requires you to register a Square Enix account that is for some inexplcable reason a separate account from your XIV registration, and then having to take codes you receive on one account and entering them into another place. Why you can't just go onto your Mog Station account and directly purchase the licenses there all under one umbrella is utterly baffling to me.
Honestly they should never have released it on steam, many MMO's come out on steam, BDO, GW2 (Eventually) FFXIV, and its nothing but fucking trouble. For the devs and the players xD
@@TheArrivalCyberse but there isnt enough warnings that if you download from steam, you also have to purchase expansions from steam, resulting in a lot of ppl buying the wrong product
Hear, hear. General agreement among the community is that after X, that's when FF's identity as a whole shifted anyway. And then even from there, there will be two factions arguing what was the true golden age of the franchise, the oldies (People who worship FFI - FFVI) and the neotypes (People who worship FFVII - FFX).
@@gnw_AstA When X first came out we had big fights over whether it was a real FF because it was different. We made fun of the Tidus/Yuna story as over the top. It's been interesting to see people for who X was one of their first grow up and really be fond of it.
Sakaguchi playing ff14 is like an alexander raid name - The return of the creator

he's going to be holding a presentation with Yoshi P at Tokyo game show this weekend. maybe he will have a few things to say there.
Master Eraqus has come to join in the fun, I see.
LMAO
The Master of Masters even.
oh man, so that's why soken and a few other twitter accounts involved with xiv is retweeting this auuo guy, didn't realize he was the maker of FF!
He is the one who created all the best games in the series. The way he tells stories is amazing.

I'm more excited about them possibly announcing FFXVI news at TGS
Might not happen but here's hoping!
no announcement but sakaguchi will definitely interview yoshi about it
Pretty sure they said that XVI won't "appear" in TGS
Hironobu said on his twitter post that he'll be asking Yoshi P about FF16
Yoshi-P has stated FFXVI won't appear at the TGS because he doesn't think it's quite yet ready for another trailer.
