2:50 Siege is in the best state it's ever been in COMPETITIVELY. It is not in its best state aesthetically or for fun. Take a look back at the old maps, there was nuance, things that made them very unique. They were less blocky, more realistic, and gritty. Where it used to feel like you were raiding a suburban house, a Russian kafe, or a compound in Oregon, now it just feels like you're raiding a multiplayer map. The game was far more intense being able to hold and angle through the bomb chassis or through a bullet hole. It really felt like death was waiting around every corner. While it's more balanced for competition now, I think it's lost a lot of aspects that made it a game. And while live service means I can still enjoy this game 9 years later, it's not the same game, and the old one is gone forever, patched over with the current version. I love the game still, but something was lost along the way, something intangible.
this is valid, but honestly I think this is the same for literally most games ever created. Like with fortnite, eventually the game got really competitive and alot of people lost their love for the game. I dont really blame epic for that tho. I think with most multiplayer games which are shooters, they will always reach a point where everything starts getting very competitive which kills certain feelings you get while playing it. Just my take tho
IT is in the best state, it's targeted player base has just changed a long time ago. I understand nostalgia and wanting realism but siege has never really been about realism. If you want realism I do suggest playing READY or NOT
While ur comment is completely valid, this doesnt make the game any worse. Nostalgia is a strong emotion, remembering times when you had fun is often regarded as being above the fun that you could have now, since its now different, the kind of fun you had can never be replicated, i think this is the core idea behind people losing inrerest in games over time because of changes, even if those changes may be positive.
As a person who just started playing siege, I had no idea this game went through this changes, and I swear one of my biggest reasons i stopped playing it is bc it's too sweaty, there's not any modes for you to just have fun and maybe train to get better, everything is either ranked or playing public, which it's already full of sweats, stop playing it for that reason, it's way too competitive for new players coming in

@@ifane8683 Yeah every once n a while if I see him at a party or smth, He’s actually Navy Lieutenant now which is funny since he played as Blackbeard and Valkyrie often lol
it’s crazy that i started playing in Y2 with all my old friends. i never realized why we stopped enjoying the game but this vid brought back memories of the good old days before it got too competitive. i used to main glaz and fuze for shield rushes. i hope siege goes back to its roots. thanks for the memories
It felt like anything fun was gonna be removed the next patch... Felt that way from the season I started playing. I can't remember exactly when it clicked, when I finally understood why the game was no longer enjoyable. But I remember hearing that bodies were removed and I just laughed. While I know Siege will never go back to what it was, that it's likely gonna take another decade for a studio to make something as creative and freeing as old Siege, I'll carry on the memories too.
As someone who doesn’t and never played R6 I really respect and even as far as like jynxzi’s passion for R6. It reminds me of my passion for the old cod (specifically bo2). Jynxzi said there’s nothing better than it being 2:34am, Red Bull in hand, and you on a night map in R6, and notice the passion as he said it. That’s how I feel bout bo2 zombies as a whole, there’s no better cod zombies experience than the feeling of loading up tranzit or town wit the boys so late it’s early in the AM and you’re genuinely scared shitless cuz the jump scares in bo2 zombies hit different, the dark gritty foggy aesthetic of bo2 zombies would send a chill down my spine. There’s no greater cod zombies overall vibe/aesthetic and experience than bo2 zombies. Bo3 zombies was elite too, but for different reasons. Bo3 zombies was fun to do Easter eggs and unlock cool things and go through the story. Bo2 hands down had the best zombies aesthetic tho, the only cod zombies to this day to genuinely scare the piss outta me and I wouldn’t dare play it solo at times depending on the time of day
I understand you man I played all the old cods and zombies from WaW and Black Ops, same with old Siege “Year 1” I just miss those nights with friends. Overall just great memories…
@@__lynx_ No you dumb fuck it's not because he's "clip farming" it's because he is filming a video and doesn't have chat saying the most diabolical stuff ever.
3:56 I always believe that a game loses it's fun factor the moment it becomes 'too balanced' as in every action has a direct counter. Whenever every operator or gun or whatever feel the same, a game becomes dull and boring. Sometimes game just need that bit of unbalance to make them fun to play.
In my opinion that’s what happened to Fortnite. I used to que up and land at popular places and either dominate or get dominated and have “fun”, key word “fun.” Now there are robots and 5 year old pro players that deter the games fun and like Junko was saying, Fortnite added in all these maneuver mechanics like sprinting, sliding, etc, which makes the game seem all serious.
Thinking of old siege just makes me feel deep sorrow, I'm happy to see that I am not the only one who rly misses some of these features that got removed for no specific reason. I don't want to play in pro league version of the game.. I'd rather have fun like in the old days.
@@SpiceyOats Lmfao then why are you even here? What is your deal? Leave us men of culture alone and maybe ponder on why you are the way you are. No hate, just no need to be intentionally rude over something you don't find as interest in as we do.
Crazy to think that no one would be playing this game if everyone had played old siege. One of the greatest eras right there id say my career as a pro gamer ended when siege fell off. Thanks to jynxzi this game is back! I been playing siege sense day one, and ill tell you my favorite part about old siege was going into a private lobby with 10 randoms a few being friends and playing the night maps with are darkens all the way down in game playing normally. Scariest most fun time ever, idc how broken siege was back then that’s what made the game fun.
Hats off to the controller players who were frying in this game without aim assist. Truly impressive in comparison to other FPSs... Call of Duty pros have aim assist and it makes me think to myself if you're a professional why do you need assistance? ☝️
27:22 is understandable. You want to make a cool entrance by breaching and rappeling in but decide to do a different window so you get off and pick up the charge again
I think Deimos was in mind when they got rid of cooking grenades. It would be insanely OP for him to have nades he could cook, just think about how crazy it would be if he was under you, tracking you, and cooking nades 💀
Smg11 with acog was so nasty, i loved it. Old house was the best map 100% where the defenders could rush outside and obliterate the attacking team. Good ol days
As someone who started in year 1 but took many long breaks away from siege, this is such nostalgia. I 100% agree, siege was an insanely fun game because there were so many stupid things in the game. Also recruit rush with all shields was the most fun pub stomping ever.
RIP Jynxzi thank you for VIISE for uploading unaploaded vids to make us believe he is still with us😢 we pray for him and his family and keep Nickolas Douglas Stewart in our hearts❤
The one feature I truly miss was being able to look at operator stats in game that you now have to go to a tracker app or Ubisoft to see. Used to be able to see individual op k/d, accuracy, headshot acc, w/l and some other stats. Never understood why they took it out
Tachankas old voice actor wasn’t able to work due to Covid now allowing him to travel and also tachanka when the crosshairs used to change to red and his turret was mounted you could use that to see people through smokes
5:52 The funny thing is that the game boots up way slower anyway then back then (for PC anyway). Also the Operation Parabellum & Chimera themes were goated
21:37 BROOOOOO OMGGGG. This castle glitch was INSANE. My friends and I didn't abuse it, we would only use it if the opposing defense team used it first. Althought my friend was an expert on this, other teams could only make the game on like 10 fps and you could still win lucky rounds while on attack, but my friend would make it 3 fps and it either crashed your game or would be literally unplayable and you couldn't leave spawn for the 3 minutes. So on defense we would basically go traps and castle, and our mission was to protect castle while he was glithcing and the attack's mission was to rush the building trying to kill castle before the fps dropped down. This was prime siege ngl
Players coming back to R6S recently has to be studied. I'm one of these players after not playing the game since the beta, but the reason I started playing this game recently is because my friend shared his PSN and I got it off of him. Didn't have the game on Xbox although I did want it. Playing this game consistently nowadays is how I found this channel lol. I miss being able to change your fire type to semi-auto 😭 I thought I was simply misremembering when I got back on this, but I really felt like I actually used that feature when it was in the game.
Incase you are wondering why it was removed, it was to shut down an exploit that was used commonly by cheaters. Not exactly the reason someone wants to hear, that said they were right to say that very very few people used it, and that it was kind of just objectively bad to not always be on full auto.
I watched this the other day, then played with a guy named Patrick Bateman, I kept asking what else does Paul Allen remember about Old Siege. If you don't get the reference, watch American Psycho.
For anyone who didnt play from the very beginning. You actually had 10 seconds outside without being detected, they changed it to 2 later. the run outs were ultra cool
39:03 Having the host start ranked with a level 0 got patched pretty quick, but if you had someone invite you after they started the queue it would get a level 0 into the game.
the biggest one this video didn't mention but I think many of us miss was when we used to be able to renown farm on T hunt and I used to get so much renown, now you gain nothing.
Used to play siege when it was like this but stopped when it started changing too much. This was very nostalgic for me because this is just how I remember the game since I haven’t played much with all the new changes.
Exactly bro I’ve only hopped on very small few amount of times since any changes and only once for one round when I got the urge to play new season and I’m watching this video like “wait this is the old siege?” This is all I remember/ know of the game, and even when he goes back to season 1 and two im just remembering actually being so hyped from the trailers also the videos ytubers posted from when they could play before release and that just realizing I got the game on/close to release and it’s crazy how much time has passed unknowingly. I used to be really good too and now I get punished if I’m not super locked in to where it feels more like a chore smh I miss them days
@@rockmartin21 fr when i seen clips from evan and teo i remembered how arcadey it used to feel but now its just so different since they catered to the pros rather than the players
@@rockmartin21 I don't even recognize Siege in clips anymore. It actually hurts hearing the name now. I played for years, made friends along the way... But now it's both gone and still here. It's almost worst then if the game shutdown, because it will live on and not be praised for what it once was, at its truest peak. It's literally both my favorite game and the one I despite the most. Used to be unable to play anything else, now I can't get bored after a single match. It's the fact that, ever since 2016, each updates and changes felt like they were specifically targeting my playstyle to be nerfed or removed. Bullet holes, debris, corpses, Ela, Zofia, Acogs, hiding in shadows, spawn peaking, rushing, recruit, throwing nades back, old maps...
@@Soliye. What season you got into siege? For me it was Operation health beat season for me where I met 95% of my friends xD. Everyone literally sucked both my friends and me and the enemy after awhile we got better but still messed around. But now? Heavy sweat fest like peoples lives were at risk
@@koreancowboy42 I got in on the last week of operation health. Most of my hours were probably spent during White Noise. While I too sucked at first, there already were many sweats quick leaning the shit out of us lol. I didn’t mind, I learned to counter them by holding hallways with a simple bullet hole through the wall, which was almost invisible at their range.
I remember when Glaz could put holes in castle barricades I would shoot a few holes in it then sit there peeking through the holes sniping them and it got even stronger when he got his thermal scope. Gonna be honest I miss doing that but holy shit it was cancer
Bro I've been playing siege since the week before frost and buck were dropped for season 1. I left in year 3 I believe and now returning. Seeing the reworks and what it used to be. It feels like such a new game and this brought so much nostalgia. Miss my recruit rush so much
I completely agree, it used to be more fun for me than competitive, but even in "casual" playlists it still feels competitive.. I started playing 2 months after release and miss the old days of siege, unreal fun ❤
I played since the beta, this brought back memories. I can say as a veteran, old siege was a broken mess, and it was the most fun I've ever had playing the game. These days it's a sweat fest and all the changes to the game reflect that. I at least wish they would bring back old versions of reworked maps, even just as events.
@@badasscrusader It just wouldn't matter anymore. Everything is mechanically so sterile it wouldn't play the same. Remember when they made a "throwback" game mode? It felt nothing like old Siege then, it wouldn't now.
I remember pre ordering siege with my brother and day one the servers shit the bed so bad it couldn’t be played. Played for a long time. Took a break for a couple years when things started to really change, but me and the boys are back! There used to be a kapkan glitch where his lasers were invisible too.
I played on launch and one thing I used to love too do was set up my valk cams outside of chalet kitchen and toss nitros through the slit and usually got like double kills. I remember when the community was smaller and if someone saw you doing a dumb strat they would join in. I tried doing one recently and they just tkd me and talked trash. I’m glad the game is popular again but I stopped playing it years ago after all the changes.
Agreed 100% with you at the start. Ubisoft kept getting rid of fun mechanics for the sake of esport and competitiveness. The main reason why I started playing was because the game was fun. It was stupid but had so much depth with secret operator interactions, positioning, map destruction, shadows, etc... Haven't really played since late 2019... I miss the old days. Most of these clips are from when I played and it just feels like a life time ago honestly. Glad the game's alive, for those still enjoying it.
15:58 HOW DIDN'T YOU KNOW THAT?? That was literally all I used to do back then, just picked Ash R4C and one hit on the door, rushing through every single room. It was perfect
I’ve been saying for a while, I hate how a handful of pro league players can complain about one thing that 99% of the players don’t mind or like, and they just get rid of it
25:58 Bikini body released a video when the invisible operator glitch happened. You would swap off the operator you are on at the last half second and you would turn invisible except for your gun and ability.
This is just depressing honestly. My buddy had me redownload this game for the first time since early 2019 and idek if I want to play it after watching this
I tried to get back into Siege last year and I felt like I had amnesia. I too left after 2019 and I kept turning corners and hitting walls instead of doorways. Being chased and instinctively running up to an hatch with shotgun in hand to realize there's no more hatch. Spawning and throwing an impact to a wall for it to be hard. Leaving OBJ to see that the whole floor is unknown. Honestly, the Consulate rework had me seriously worked up by making me feel in a way I never had before. Like, I could look at a wall and picture the layout of the whole map, rotate 45 degree and everything vanished. So for the sake of memories, I'm not installing this game. I seriously miss it, but it's gone now. There won't ever be anything like old Siege
I bought R6 on day one, At the time I had just gone live on my own. I doubt any player of any other game will ever understand what peak fun is in gaming if they haven't experienced queuing up with a bunch of dumb asses at 2 am to play ranked on house or hereford base in the first couple of years of Siege.
Remember old hereford's basement? The pressure when you heard the first floor get flooded. The absolute mayhem when the enemies somehow were able to rush down the stairs or drop in that little room that led up to the garage. The final stand off, hiding behind the hostage laying prone. Hoping for the enemy to accidentally headshot the hostage instead of you.
@@Soliye. good times, that map was top tier. Honestly if they kept all the maps og I would get back into it. I get they have to update them but they are just so nostalgic.
I remember the double overtime I had it a lot especially with secure area. Even the spawn peaks after awhile you would learn to just start firing into each soft wall to not get peaked
I’ve been on and off with siege, but I played consistently in its first 2 years. For me, you deserve a veterans discount if you played consistently through the release of Black Ice. Those were the days of 8 minute (minimum) match queues, as well as Frost being an insanely broken operator. You’d also have toxic party’s that wanted to play as the new characters and would all vote kick somebody not in the party if they chose them. Truly a time in the game’s history.
i remember playing on secure area and bomb and playing Monty and just blocking the single entry way cause the defenders reinforced the whole thing and you'd see the light in their eyes die as three defenders would melee your shield and panic
I'm still new to R6 Siege, rn just got level 100 after around more than 300 hours of playtime, started around year 8 when Brava was released. Looking at the old Siege, I really wanted some of the features back into the game, like Night maps, Ranked in Recruit, add back the 2 other game mode to Ranked, and of course, throwback grenades now that we can't cook them anymore. Adding my point to the Night Maps, it is going to have a lot of works but I really want to see us being able to shoot down the lights for much immersive experience.
I'd argue if they released White noise to the new player base, they'd be in awe at how much better the game was then. Unless you're REALLY into the competitive side now, the casual style was way more versatile then and less repetitive. Much more fun to be had.
I feel like they could make a setting for maps to look night time either "on", "off", "random", or "custom" and what custom would do is you set the chance for it to be a night map so whether people like it or hate it they get it because in the end it's just day or night so it doesn't really affect gameplay
Old Siege had a huge knowledge check, you had to be careful of runnouts, spawnpeeks, valk cams outside etc. Now they removed all that because their priority is "pro play"
who remembers the glitch where you would fall and zipline at the same time and it would cause your character to just walk in the air if you stepped off any roof or anything, you could gain more Hight by walking up stairs or ramps and then walking back into the air. the original division game had the same exact bug also involving ziplining.
26:32 so the capitao fire was like that because it wasn't really fire, if you take a look at his cartdrige the fire one has a man inhaling some sort of particle, that's what it was, you would inhale it and it would basically burn your lungs
This is a great video , no interruptions and jynxzi getting super angry , just reliving great moments from a great game , IMO SIEGE IS THE BEST FPS OUT RN
Started playing this game in feb 2017 so there is way too many things that I remember. I really do miss the old siege lowkey. The new update is pre damn good but I honestly love the old UI. All love ♥️
if you one hit barricades the same way you used to to one hit hop them, you can still do it nowadays, just have to shoot out an extra panel. just gotta shoot two bullets and itll give you the vault prompt then. not as quick as it used to be but its much faster than hitting it again to vault, hitting it twice to open it, or shoot it. hard to explain but it still wokrs today with the extra step. also, im pretty sure in situations thermite still has nades in his mission. little nostalgia hit there for those who never played with therm nades. they were taken from him for obvious reasons lol
I remember a glitch in Bank lobby, when you prone under the registration table, you could swim under the map while being able to see and shoot through floors.
I started around echo hibana in year 3 or whatever, and i actually as a personal goal bought every attachment and weapon for every op. The exact season I accomplished that they changed it so all weapons and attachments were free. Obviously got nothing back from that.
Haven’t watched the whole video yet, but in year 0 there used to be a glitch you could do to lay under the red barrier on defense, so you could get outside during prep phase lol
Seeing old Club House is always a punch to the gut, it's probably technically better now, but back then, when you could Sledge or Fuze the top of the exterior wall in Gym/Bedroom and peek it and guarantee like 2 free kills because people were just so unaware at that point in the game. I miss it.

13:37 just had a flashback to me choking a clutch because I thought you had to actually melee the defuser instead of holding the defuse button 😭 can still hear my friend jack who introduced me to R6 yelling at me 😂

Do u still talk to Jack?
@@Soliye. Yep
Year 1 was even more insane, can't believe I've been playing this game since 2015 lol
Bo2 hands down had the best zombies aesthetic tho, the only cod zombies to this day to genuinely scare the piss outta me and I wouldn’t dare play it solo at times depending on the time of day
Ok noob

If I could go back to year 2 siege and play it again I would do it in a heartbeat. Just like old black ops 1 and 2.
I think Deimos was in mind when they got rid of cooking grenades. It would be insanely OP for him to have nades he could cook, just think about how crazy it would be if he was under you, tracking you, and cooking nades 💀
just dont give deimos nades then
Or as jynxzi and a lot of other people have said don't make it so nades do full damage if a floor or wall is blocking contact from the grenade

The one feature I truly miss was being able to look at operator stats in game that you now have to go to a tracker app or Ubisoft to see. Used to be able to see individual op k/d, accuracy, headshot acc, w/l and some other stats. Never understood why they took it out
“To discourage people from being toxic, due to someone either having high or low stats” - some Ubisoft person, probably.
Tachankas old voice actor wasn’t able to work due to Covid now allowing him to travel and also tachanka when the crosshairs used to change to red and his turret was mounted you could use that to see people through smokes
oh shit yeah lol
5:52 The funny thing is that the game boots up way slower anyway then back then (for PC anyway). Also the Operation Parabellum & Chimera themes were goated
Yeah, damn I got goosebumps on this moment 6:05
The intro sewing screen was THE best screen. Hearing that music build up before spending a day on ranked 😂
Jynxzi a big reason
Incase you are wondering why it was removed, it was to shut down an exploit that was used commonly by cheaters. Not exactly the reason someone wants to hear, that said they were right to say that very very few people used it, and that it was kind of just objectively bad to not always be on full auto.
I used it often too! I really miss that feature hahahha

Bikini body released a video when the invisible operator glitch happened.
Literally, those first years are like core life memories for me lol
Remember old hereford's basement? The pressure when you heard the first floor get flooded. The absolute mayhem when the enemies somehow were able to rush down the stairs or drop in that little room that led up to the garage. The final stand off, hiding behind the hostage laying prone. Hoping for the enemy to accidentally headshot the hostage instead of you.

I feel like they could make a setting for maps to look night time either "on", "off", "random", or "custom" and what custom would do is you set the chance for it to be a night map so whether people like it or hate it they get it because in the end it's just day or night so it doesn't really affect gameplay

if you one hit barricades the same way you used to to one hit hop them, you can still do it nowadays, just have to shoot out an extra panel. just gotta shoot two bullets and itll give you the vault prompt then. not as quick as it used to be but its much faster than hitting it again to vault, hitting it twice to open it, or shoot it. hard to explain but it still wokrs today with the extra step. also, im pretty sure in situations thermite still has nades in his mission. little nostalgia hit there for those who never played with therm nades. they were taken from him for obvious reasons lol
