Great video! Thank You. Did this in 1983, and bumped into 4 stunning Norwegian (female) Naturists camping alongside Llyn Y Cau. Can't hope to repeat that day, but will be back there very soon.
Alright Paul. Good video. What was the route called you took down or how did you get there from the summit? I can't find the loop route you done online, just the way up and down the same route :'(
Senior Dohnson Just keep going straight ahead along the plateau keeping to the left and you’ll come to a fence and styal after maybe 2-3 k. Cross it and turn right. It’s on the os map. Thanks for watching!
Cracking video Paul, and you went up the best path. There is a short-cut if you follow the north edge of Llyn Cau and climb up where the shadow's edge is at 3:29 but it's not recommended to descend by this route, although I have done and it is a little hairy especially if the grass is wet. There are the remains of a shack just to the southwest of the summit, very little left but you can find the old fireplace, where a lady served tea to Victorian tourists.
Thanks for pointing us onto this, Paul. Great video by the way. You have a great knack of talking us through the journey, and wow - those views. Blessed with the weather too. Will definitely give this one a look in. Hoping to get out more often once nath gets a van. (great chance shot of the jet there too.) Added you this one to our channel playlist again, Paul. Keep it up!
Summit Or Nothing thanks guys really glad you enjoyed it! In a very northern way I do have a way of " chunnering ' all the way to the top. I've just put it on film!! P
It's an oldy Paul but a fantastic look at a very grand mountain. It looks like you were suitably impressed. Up there next week. Should be good! All the best. Mark
Outdoor Intrigue I’ll admit I’d be pretty concerned to do it in the snow but it would look amazing. If you do it please post it. Thank you for your kind comments. Paul
First LastName3 minffordd Path in this film hardest and pony path which is on my channel the easiest. Lots of other less official routes but I’d do these 2
Super video - we're going to visit the mach loop and now we have a great hike to take too - got a good feel for the area and the hike (and the videoer - you got across your love of the whole thing!) get a few more good honest videos like this out there. for us - maybe pan a bit slower and don't be shy on your commentary - you're good!
Adam Radford I have a weird feeling fella. You might have done this before!!! But honestly the phone packed up at the top so I missed the rest of it! I can’t afford anything else so I have to use what I can get!!! But stunning place and I’ll keep an eye where you go next. Paul
Paul Jones well you had perfect conditions when I did this was covered in low cloud the first time. Nice one I’m hoping to get out next week - probably Brecon Beacons near me. Take care pal 👍
Nice video. The fantastic lake and mountain scenery is entirely due to to glaciation and erosion.. it wasent a volcano although many people do think that atb.
Great video and views,do you remember post code or directions for the car park as I can't find it on google maps. I found Minffordd path starting in the middle of nowhere by someone's house and the only place to park a car is a single space on the road.
@@pauljones401 I should have gone to specsavers lol, thanks a lot I was looking for the other side of this hill where Cregennan Lakes are. Is it really hard to find path on the way back?As they say here www.mudandroutes.com/routes/cadair-idris-minffordd-path/ ?Thanks for your advice
Jon Watkins Thanks for that I’m learning all the time. I’ll make sure I reference that in the future as I try and talk about what I’m seeing. Appreciate you watching and commenting. Paul
Did this climb yesterday. It was harder than Ben Nevis. I have used a link to your video for some friends to see on Facebook as it was foggy as f yesterday. Thanks in advance
Paul Jones we did have issues even with maps and compass finding the right path back down. Nothing dangerous but irritating, especially when you're breathing out of your backside and have to retrace steps. Took a total of 5 1\2 hours but we stopped at the top for 30 mins chatting with some guy who had been climbing in Greenland. He was on his second trip over it that day, nutter!! We did learn though that having the dogs with us was a royal pain in the backside as they had to be on leads so trying to scramble over rocks was seriously hampered. sorry pooches, walks in the woods for you in future.
Daniel Cooke It’s a great place! You’re not the first to have to show a film of where you’ve been to show you’ve been there as my inbox shows! Hope you get to do some more great peaks and maybe in future just give the dogs a few quid to go to the pub.
Louis B it’s harder because of that drop down before the summit! A killer! Got a caravan over in Porthmadog so lucky get the chance to hit these things on a good day. Hopefully we’re all back safe and soon! All the best Paul
Paul Jones cheers will defo be going up here more after I’m allowed out Porthmadog isn’t too far from here or snowdon I think both of these mountains were pretty easy and I went up cadair when I was 12 and snowdon when I was like 14 only mountains I’ve done but am going to defo try and get up every one by the end of 2021 where I live is all hills so have been going up there lately to practise for when I go up these mountains
Great video! Thank You.

Thanks Paul. Well I didn't know that about my films. Nice to know.
I was up there yesterday I went down the way you went up I went up over Mynydd Moel.
Great video. Route is shown really well. Names of places a bit dodgy 😂 Thank you
Thank you. I’ve learned a few more names since this was posted!
More of Nath sleeping it was great.
Try the Rhinogs next, that's proper wild.
Take a map and compass as you don't want to be lost out there.
Lovely video mate. It’s such a beautiful and accessible mountain Cadair Idris. Want to do it in the snow though now. 😊🏔
Outdoor Intrigue I’ll admit I’d be pretty concerned to do it in the snow but it would look amazing. If you do it please post it. Thank you for your kind comments. Paul
One of my favourite places i the world.
Anyone else see flashing lights in the sky at night?
Operation Mindfuck They could film a Uk version of close encounters of 3rd kind here and it wouldn’t be out of place. Special time had here.
We tackled this a few days ago in the mist haha.
Wonderful experience :D
rich9012 I hope this might fill in some gaps of what you might have seen! I was lucky that day
Paul Jones thank you :D
wow! super!
Thank you! You’re trees are much bigger than ours!! Stay safe Paul
Are there 3 routes up, to the top? Which is the easiest, hardest please

Kris Yes! Best way is to go along the northern rim from the summit and you’ll cross the down path I think next to a fence.
@@pauljones401 Thanks a lot
It's a tarn lake, not a caldera. From glaciation. Scotland, lake district and snowdonia are full of them.

Hi .is the parking coins only? Thanks
Ross's Hiking Adventures yes! Seen aload turn up without pound coins. Inc myself once! Enjoy it. Paul
Ok great thanks looking to do it this Saturday
Ross's Hiking Adventures If you film it let me know. Be great as I did it on an iPhone 5 and not the best!
It's on my channel from today walk .had no views from the peaks lol major morning mist only have s7 phone to record with
Turned around half way along the dip between two peaks. Couldn't see the path
Can you tell me what is exact post code for that car park please.

the pronunciation of places is terrible
L Jones yes I was learning back then and didn’t have anyone there to teach me. Fair point I hope I’ve attempted to address
