- Space missions usually take years to prepare. Now the European Space Agency is designing one that can spring into action when an interstellar object appears, allowing a close-up look before it passes us by.

@Mugunth and any light speed interstellar travelers cannot com to earth in a reasonable amount of time if they are outside of our star cluster in our sector, in our galaxy. Any of these aliens in 99% of our galaxy cannot come to us unless they have some physics breaking technology, but then like you said, no reason to come here or communicate. If it is actually an alien spacecraft, but disguised as a rocky comet? To try to avoid detection.
Kind of like how we on earth have stealth fighter jets that are designed to be undetected.
Quick!! Camouflage the earth as a baby gas giant.
Coring out an already existing comet and then adding propulsion makes more sense.
Proof that the gap between our intelligence and theirs is rapidly decreasing. Look at that dumb long rock they tried to fool us with 🤣
Well it got discovered by us primitives so no.......
Also it's stupid to think an object moving so fast will have to disguise itself.
If it was an alien artifact, it probably would be a relic of an ancient and probably extinct civilization. In 40.000 years our Voyager 1 will reach the vicinity of an alien star. If there's any intelligent being there at that moment, they can casually find our satellite with a telescope and think it's a space rock.

building an infrastructure that can intercept interstellar objects is a very ambitious goal indeed
'Oumuamua is the name given to the first interstellar object ever detected passing through our solar system. It was first discovered by astronomers in October 2017 using the Pan-STARRS1 telescope in Hawaii. The name 'Oumuamua comes from the Hawaiian language and means "scout" or "messenger from afar."
'Oumuamua is an elongated, cigar-shaped object, estimated to be about 800 meters long and 80 meters wide. Its shape and unusual trajectory suggested that it was not from our solar system but had traveled through interstellar space before passing near the Sun.
Despite much speculation, the exact nature and origin of 'Oumuamua remain a mystery. Some scientists have suggested that it could be a natural object, such as a comet or an asteroid, while others have proposed that it could be an artificial object, like a spacecraft. However, there is currently no direct evidence to support either hypothesis, and the mystery of 'Oumuamua continues to intrigue scientists and the public alike. 👽 chatgpt
What about landing on it then hitching a ride wherever it's going? Maybe an express route out of our solar system?

I remember talk of that omoamoa slightly drifting abnormally.
I always wondered if it could have been a magnetic influence causing the drift.
Probably not even close with that guess, just thinking about other possible invisible influences.
A qustion with a possible easy answer. While the comet reached the sun, parts of it start breaking lose due to the high gravity pull from the sun, after leaving the original orbit it pulled apart and some kind of gas (helium or else) explored and gave the comet some acceleration or trejectory chance.
It doesn't have to be rocket science every time, if something hits your bike, car, whatever while you drive, it can also change path.
Well I thank astronomers are intelligent enough to come up with those reasons too.

The Oort Cloud is purely theoretical and it goes to show that with a interstellar object barreling through the "Oort Cloud" and didn't create new comets that it's more theory than fact.
I wish they'd stop showing the long rock picture, that is just an artist's conception, and a very inaccurate one at that. Most people then just assume it was a big rock.

There's more than one kind of water? Now this has me worried that I may have been drinking the wrong kind all these years. How would I find out?
Lol 😂
purified, mineral, alkaline, distilled
There are 2 types of pure water on Earth. 1 is quite rare and contained mostly in volcanoes or hot springs.
@@winstonsgmx But, like, in the "purest" (no pun intended) sense of the word, where water is H2O in that the molecule is made up of 2 hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom ... is there really more than one type of water where the alternatives have a different molecular makeup? And again, I'm not referring to purity nor acidity, which is affected by other elements/compounds contained in solution.
@@Darren51283 hydrogen has different isotopes; there's "ordinary" hydrogen consisting of just a proton, deuterium which has a proton and neutron, and tritium which has a proton and 2 neutrons. Just like interstellar gas, comets have a larger fraction of deuterated water (D2O, HDO) to H2O, compared to what is seen on Earth. That can tell you something about the environment in which a comet was formed.
And I believe deuterated water (heavy water) is perfectly safe to drink, just a bit expensive.

@Bloomberg Quicktake. Fake account, spam. Be careful.
On October 19, 2017, a very strange comet was spotted on a regular night of sky gazing.
I think i might know what Aumuamua is. I was watching a Yellowstone volcano documentary last night, and they described it like a 1500ft x 50 mile long cork poping out of a bottle. And it would shoot out far into space at incredible speeds.
They even said it would look like a giant lightsaber shooting out of our planet and going as high as we can see.
I believe This could be the remnants from a hyper Volcano from another planet billions of years ago.
Maybe the increased speed when it was leaving was it's primary objective was completed.
Serious science ✨👌
It sucks that space news rarely gets talked about unless aliens are involved. I get the sexy headlines and the need to generate hits but there are some really exciting things to talk about in space outside of aliens lol
14:10 "...because they are the likely leftovers of building planets in another solar system" - Well, in fact, they can be ANYTHING! Remember, we don't know what they are! We just see what class of object they fit in (what they remind us). And sometimes, they fit none...

If it was a comet, it was the weirdest one ever.
You get gas release when they are closer to the sun, not when they are getting farther away.
Btw, it had an unusually high albedo (super shiny), the cigar is just one of the hypothetized shapes, the other possible shape is a freaking mirrored disk, aka. a solar sail.
Yeah I was disappointed the video did not address that, although the video is less about Omuamua than it is about rationalising an intercept mission.

This maybe of some interest. On 27.05.19 at 1.20am I was taking a video of what I thought was a star towards the Hercules constellation, this star turned out to be an elongated spacecraft. It was pointed at the front and illuminated towards the rear built-up area. I can only guess at the size of this craft, but assume it to be huge maybe even many miles in length. It cannot be mistaken for anything else but a spacecraft. The question is. Is it alien? And if so where did it come from? And how long did it take to get here?
