I am a chimera. My "secret" twin is a fraternal brother, which makes my condition much more rare. I also have multiple sclerosis, which is an autoimmune disease, and the docs do and have done a lot of studies on me to see how this whole thing works and how it affects not only me, but also other chimaras both now, and in the future. For that reason I'm always wanted for clinical trials. I guess I'm a bit of a human guinea pig, but if it helps other people, I'm more than glad to be one. If I can't help humanity out in any other way, at least I'm useful in this one way.

"Without this army of microscopic interlopers you literally wouldn't survive." Well... That's like saying, a ruptured Appendix if not treated in 24 hours is fatal. Well...
About a decade ago, the week before Thanksgiving, I was in retail management and having 'gut pain'. Well, the week before Turkey day (here in the states) is kind of busy, so I tried to ignore it. But then the Tuesday before, I called into work to say I was gonna visit the Doctor, and I might be a little late. The Doctor said "appendicitis" and had me drive myself over to the local hospital where I met a surgeon and we talked about my "in and out the next day" surgery, all done through "one little hole." Next thing I knew I was waking up and my ex-wife (and still good friend) was leaning over me saying "you almost died!" I said hi, what's she doing here, and what is she talking about? I learned that it sometimes happens, and did to me, that an appendix can rupture, reseal itself, and repeat the process over and over. And thus I'd done a good job of poisoning myself. So I ended up with several days in the hospital, three holes (instead of one), and the Doctor told me he'd basically had to use antibiotics to kill everything in there, good and the bad... and for 90 days I had to eat A Lot of yogurt (I hate yogurt). So yeah I got a lot of my "microscopic interlopers" wiped out, and survived a ruptured appendix for a week. I don't recommend it.
As always thank you so very much for the video.

I wonder if my daughter will be affected at all by her “vanishing twin”? It would be interesting to find out. Would the vanishing twin’s DNA that’s found in the surviving twin show if the
    v. twin was male or female? I’d assume it would. I’ve always wished I knew if her twin was a boy or girl. V. twin was gone by the time I had my 2nd month (maybe 3rd, I don’t remember which) check up. Nurse couldn’t find any heartbeat (really scared me). Luckily my OB had an ultrasound machine at the office, so I didn’t have to wait and go to the hospital. He found one heartbeat and then explained “vanishing twin syndrome”.
