- Our first time at the Lincoln Toy Fair. Ok I went with a list of what I wanted and came pick with none of the items. However I picked up 5 Wrenn coaches I have been after for years but never seen and Pauline bought me a Christmas present!. Pauline bought something HO and German and it's not even blue! Hi Rick, we you do drive well mate lol!! A lot to look at this show wow!!! I just came back for a show here in my hometown. It was a good one and I did get a lot!!!!! Ok I do see some Corgi's in the back. Wow ok' the Circus ones that you did pick up I do have the hole set of those:). You could get them as a hole set with track and box. Or you could get them as Individuals. They were mad in the US I think in the late 60... or 70's So much to see in this one just great and thanks for the video well I am off for now!!!!!
Hi Brad, I will check out your video of the fair. I would like to film a record fair at some point, I used to attend quite a few in the 90s and added a lot to my Stones collection, unfortunately like an idiot I sold a lot of it off. I won't be doing that again. It was a nice drive to Lincoln and it took around 2 hours. I'm surprised Pauline didn't buy those circus wagons. Thanks for watching and all the best Rick.

Hi Mark, I did indeed get the Pullmans and we filmed them in a vlog yesterday which will hopefully be out this week. The DMU has been wrapped up for Christmas. I hope Pauline likes it!! 🤣🤣 Might take a lot of editing! All the best Rick

That particular Volkswagen van was made from 1950-1978, when the T2.5, also known to us over here as the T3 came out!!
the bay window panel van shown was produced 1967-78, it's predecessor the split screen from 1950-67

Hi Clive, we haven't seen as much N gauge recently due to us filming toy fairs rather than exhibitions. A lot of the smaller traders don't really have much N gauge. The DMU is very nice and brings back memories of my childhood where my bedroom had a view of the Trans Pennine route. Many thanks for watching Rick

Hi, Wrenn also did them in Southern green which are the rarest livery they produced. Both liveries are fictional but Wrenn needed some coaches to match their locos and these fitted the bill and no new tooling was needed. Thanks for watching Rick
Hi Rick and Pauline, the Lincoln show looked great! The German Rhine gold coach was such a bargain! Loved the maroon pullmans, just waiting to see them run on your layout! I am the electra in blue and also the white STEF wagon.

I bought my son a Lima set with a lot of track back in early 90's.. He still has it but in box now.

The scale difference between HO and OO is very narrow, lot's of building kits, even the Airfix wagon kits in the 70's sad "for HO and OO".
Having both in the collection I prefer 00, it's that slightly bigger, although if you are really scale addicted all the 00 is wrong when it comes to wheel gauge, then it should become EM.
But how far will you go, don't get me wrong I love what the EM guys are doing, but the restrictions become very high, and there is almost nothing you can buy ready to go.
The temptation to buy German stuff became to great🤣, but why not, it's the joy of the model collector.
I recently soled almost all my German stuff, but there where one or two items, I couldn't sell, some I love the model so much, others I got from people who where very dear to me and are no longer among us.
But I really think you should complete the Reingold set with a German loco, it will be a nice set.
Anyway very nice video, and to all viewers a peaceful Christmas…

Another great video. Always wanted a trans pennine unit, but never had one, although I have got a scratch built n gauge class 123 unit, which were similar, but without the stylish cabs. Best wishes for Christmas, and thank you for keeping me entertained all year. Martin B.

3:17 Looks like they used German Trix International bogies on that (that was the name of the 2 rail Trix stuff in Europe)
6:41 That is one of the two rarer vehicles needed... The dining car has number 309169. The other more common ones that make a complete set are a 1st class corridor (wide window spacing, 309167) and a 1st class open (narrow windows spacing, 309168). Be sure to check the doors, they should be the same type as the dome car (as Lima did do FS wagons in DB colors that have different doors). This is the older type of vehicle, they later did one with flush windows that is way more expensive (think 150 euros plus second hand) and sheds parts like a husky in spring.
16:36 The famous DB Silberling type coach. Could be an older Roco one with the dark roof.
22:18 That is a 1940s Marklin locomotive which needs the older track type with the continuous 3rd rail

£75 is a really great price for the Trix Trans-Pennine DMU. Used to have a green one as a kid and loved it. However, the non-standard gauge and incorrect Buffet Car put me off buying another one. Instead, I’ve bought a Silver Fox kit to make a full 6-car set. Yesterday, I finally found and bought the brass door handles, grab rails and hinges which it needs.
That kit looks great (googled it) yes not a bad price I would have shown it at the end of the video but Pauline has put it away for Christmas 🎄🎁 Merry Christmas and a Happy New year to you.
Those Trix models ran on the common 16.5 mm gauge used by OO and HO models .
The gauge was standard but the scale was about half way between OO and HO.
So much confusion arises when UK people talk about gauge when they mean scale. Can't think why that is the preference.
