Man does this classic bring back memories..i loved it when it came out in 1970 and i still do in 2023.. especially hits my heart because i had a beloved dog of 12 years..🦮😞❤️...i will see you again my beloved B.J. until then..you run the golden fields of heaven 🙏❤️🦮❤️ see you when i get there..❤️🙏❤️
This Melody hits the spot. You know that part of you deep inside that goes back in time and wishes that they never end , the best days. Yeah!!! Every time I hear this song I go there.
I had an old dog that danced for me all of the time and when he died it broke my heart. I still hurt for that dog and this song reminds me of him. in a nice way.
Wish I coulda experienced life back in the 60s.. what a time it musta been to be alive. My hometown has 8000 people now and in the 60s 70s the population was like 25,000 my dad told me story’s of racing the drag in his duster town packed bumper to bumper and people walking all over the sidewalk.. now it’s a crackhead bumming change at Tim’s drive thru is the most ya see
Its a beauityful song about hard times and surviving life and a old man all he have is his dog himself and a drinking proble he dont need but he happy some times.😢😮😅😂.

Give that's man a new pair shoes and a gold hat and a pair green pants and a black. Dress coat and a billfold full of hundreds.😅 . then watch him dance.😅😅😅
Some members are still performing as the NGDB. My brother saw them, and met them, a couple years back and got pics with them backstage. My brother had recent neck surgery then and the guys seemed genuinely concerned about him and his prognosis. My brother said it was an evening he will never forget.
my dad was fourteen when this song came out he is the one that got me into the Nitty gritty dirt band I'm an old soul now and I'm eighteen years old I got to see thee 50th anniversary concert twice now there still good but not as good with out Jimmy Ibbotson he is the only one that I didn't meet from the Dirt Band :(
@@garybrinker4522 Ibby is a fabulous multi- instrumentalist. Playing the bass here is Les Thompson, a great, tuneful multi- instrumentalist himself. This is my favorite era of the Dirt Bsnd.
@@HoneyPie18319 Definitely in my top 5 favorite bands..Seen them 3 times thru the years,,last time about 4 years ago at County Fair in Nebraska..Thanks for replying H.P.

This is their original. The originals is always the best. Now I can listen to it while asking the late Mr. Bojangles, to please, dance.
My coworker Pete enlightened me to this song! God rest your soul brother Pete, Miss you!
As of 2021, this song has generated $250 Million Dollars. Not bad for a song about an Old Drunk Dancer and his dog. -------------> CLASSIC !

New York-born Ronald Crosby aka The Gypsy Songman, and of course, Jerry Jeff Walker - a name he came up with in his Greenwich Village days
Great song, good version, but I like the Sammy Davis Jr and David Bromberg versions better. Especially SDJr.
