Idk if the "Z" in dragon ball z was on purpose but I like it since most of the english viewers haven't really seen the original Dragon Ball and have only seen Z and probably GT.

There's not even a single piece evidence out there that even IMPLIES such an idea, the Dragon Ball fandom is full of misinformation, be careful not to fall to it. Also, I hate how the anime adaptation splits the series into two, not only are folks out there who think that the Saiyan arc was the beginning of the whole series, but there's also the "Oooh, but Z is so different from Dragon Ball! Like, just watch the first 3 Z episodes an then the first 3 original DB episodes, totally different!" crowd

Well, as you said, it was on the table... Kind of...
