- Come in here, dear boy, have a cigar
You're gonna go far, you're gonna fly
You're never gonna die
You're gonna make it if you try
They're gonna love you
Well I've always had a deep respect
And I mean that most sincere
The band is just fantastic
That is really what I think
Oh by the way, which one's pink?
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy
We call it 'riding the gravy train'
We're just knocked out
We heard about the sell out
You gotta get an album out
You owe it to the people
We're so happy we can hardly count
Everybody else is just green
Have you seen the chart?
It's a helluva start
It could be made into a monster
If we all pull together as a team
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy
We call it 'riding the gravy train'
I hope the holiday season is treating you all well
Same, gentleman.
definitely a source of contention with Waters and Gilmour, would have been cool to have a Beatles like Get Back documentary to see the fights these guys had
there were no fights at all but sarcastic commentaries, acid jokes, hypocrisy, that resulted in growing tension when they were gathered in the studio.... you know, the Uk style...
@@KevinSolano hanging on in quiet desperation is the english way
Would be an epic documentary for sure. Could you imagine the situations?
Going to be honest, I didn't even know this existed. It's like another Christmas gift.
Pink Floyd NEVER fails me. ALWAYS give me the classy feeling.
This version features Gilmour, Waters and Harper, it would be nice to hear each respective version.
For years I thought it was Roger singing this song on the album version. Hearing him sing it here does sound different but not a whole lot honestly
Yeah man! In my playlist, there is the alternate version (this one) and when I listen to the album version, I just thought it was a bit different. Just discovered that isn't roger in the album.
Same but Roy Harper still fit it a bit better.
Sounds better with Harper and makes sense as it is told in the third person narrative.. so the record executives talking to the band. They all liked Harpers version better. Of course Roger bitches now in interviews, but Roger will be Roger
@KLStreet it even provides poetic … “oh by the way, which one’s Pink”
I went so many years not knowing it was not Roger and or David.
Yes you're RIGHT
Didn't consider that
Reminds me, Primus covered this gem in the 90s...
Who the hell is this one they call Bob Cock?
@@dcurry7287 I don't know but I know there's a Bob Rock perhaps a jab?
They still do
I love l listening to Pinkfloyd when I smoke 💨 out with my good old weed ❤️👽❤️👍
Pink Floyd covering its own song, interesting!
They made the right choice.
Even though the original version is better I would be lying if I said this one isnt good
Je suis un fan de pink floyd
Moi Aussi
THANXX for the Lyrics , but Any infos about This Song and All Versions Story ...?
I actually think it's quite good.. it's a totally different tone than Harper's version, very desperate and strained. 100% Waters sound. I like both versions, and appreciate hearing this demo.
Oh thank God, Roy did the vocals!!
I don't know, this has grown on me. I just listened to Roy's version and it sounded kind of weird lol. I think if Roger worked on this some more it could've been even better.
I think the verses sound cool in Rogers style but when the chorus kicks in is where it doesn’t fit. I know Roy Harper said they choose not to do it this way but I think Roy on the Chorus would be cool. Of course the way it was done is the way it was done and is friggin awesome.,
I would have preferred this one
Super ça me semble que c'était hier j'ai 68 ans
supreme...
I've never cared much for Roger Waters' "singing". For that reason, the only song on The Wall that I really like is Comfortably Numb because Gilmour sings the chorus. My favorite song on Wish You Were Here is the title track and it's sung by Gilmour.
Gilmour sings more on The Wall than Comfortably Numb.
Interesting to hear, but roy definitely did it better.
The doors
I'd have preferred Roger Solo to this version. It would sound a LOT closer to the album version with Roy Harper. Roy's is still the best IMO.
Thank god Roger didn’t do the vocals on the regular version
Really? Not far from.the released version
Damn lots of Roger Waters haters here😂
I get Waters, his idea was more interesting than Harpers version. Waters wanted to sound more vulnerable and less cynical. Waters was so closed! But probably was sabotaged by Gilmore who didn’t want to sing it because he didn’t agree with the lyrics like in many other Pink Floyd songs.
I have.
To say I think the song would have been awesome with Roger singing it as well.
But roy definitely knocked it out of the park
Roy Harper did it so much better
Compared to Harper's version, the timing is all off on this one. Sounds dull.
Absurd.
It does. The lack of depth, lack of variation in intonation, make it harder to absorb what's being said. Harper blows Roger away, despite what the Waters-paid trolls are saying in the comments section.

Funny you say that. ua-cam.com/video/6icnq-oKaBw/v-deo.htmlsi=aTYRDGS1bO1V-7Xm
Dave's lead is much better on the album version.
Dave doesn't sing this on the album version you muppet.
It wasn’t Dave, it was Roy Harper
The vocals SUCK on this version. Roy Harper did a much better job on the ORIGINAL version.
I totally agree. He should have let Roy sing the entire album. 😁
@@chriskroll4166 I agree Roger’s voice is not good but it has something about it, i really enjoy his vocals
