Dude, I've been following your channel for years now. This is the happiest I've seen you. You're doing great and thank you for sharing your journey with all of us.
BOAB learning and converting to being a solo sailor is the best change and life experience to watch! Well done on all you have done Joel. It is a pleasure to be there with you via UA-cam.
Yo man!! Well done bruh... welcome to Carriacou....sure I'll bump into you somewhere or another...Music at Lambie Queen tonight...Cora and Stan. Well done man.... you're doing just great 👍🏼 Sailing that stretch not easy...always a challenge.... specially if you're solo sailing..... Nice feeling when you pull into the bay tho right 👌🏼🥳
Joel, I am loving watching you learn to solo sail and all that comes with that. Yes, it’s about the boat and the systems but you’re showing the mental aspect of that process as well. Very tough and you are killing it! Keep the great content coming.
Congrats on the shakedown sail Joel, we are all rooting for you man! You can only keep a good man down for a little while and they come back stronger! Get out there and find yourself a true sailor girl in a marina out there✌️✌️
This is great, Joel, showing the nitty-gritty of solo sailing, learning, mistakes, challenges, successes... A lot of people want to see this very thing. And doing this in trade winds and foreign lands, it's impressive. The great Bernard Moitessier recommended doing figure 8's with a new boat, or if you're just getting accustomed to solo sailing and that sort of thing. And practice sailing from anchor, sailing to anchor, etc., and when the day comes that the engine doesn't cooperate, you already feel totally confident. That sort of thing. Do things over and over until you can do 'em in your sleep. That's the idea. Keep it up, brother. With a vessel like that, the world is your oyster, as they say.
Re a boat engine . You rarely run them enough to wear them out . Rust , corrosion , age , bad fuel , and difficulty to get parts is what gets them and overheating . Hours will not , they are good for about 20k hours . Excavators in much harder conditions often go 18k plus . You will be unlikely to be above 10k hours .
Thank you for another mad video, I'm in Australia brother. 62 putting money away for my first yacht. Liver board, hit the East coast of my country then circumnavigate Australia. Then see where the wind takes us.
Loved this one. I wondered how the crossing between the islands went since that can be pretty dicey. Well done, sailor. I'm super excited for what's coming next.
Of concern is seeing you on board alone and not wearing your life jacket or leash...a great shakedown and the skills you have gained over the years is showing
He's actually delivering my boat to Dubai for me. My captain, Tony, and I think he would make a good mate. I'm excited for him! He'll gain a ton of miles and experience towards his captain's license and it will help him out financially, plus I can't wait to hang out with him here.
Pretty sure you don't have to sail straight into the wind on a sailboat. Nothing wrong with tacking. Why do you complain so much? How come you can't fix your wind guard? Get a hat if rain bothers you so much. Why do you act like you don't know anything about sailing?

Give it up for Joel! Great job probably the calmest I have seen you sail. You're gaining confidence in yourself and your boat.
Great episode! A good mast track stopper replacement is a few wraps around the mast with Black gorilla tape... It will outlive the boat. ;)
Oh Im doing good thx for asking Joel. Good to see you out sailing YOUR boat. Hats off .
You have been getting a lot done and achieving goals. Your growing confidence shows.
Loving the videos! Been watching a long time. It's getting GOOD! Hope to see you on the water sometime. ⛵ Let's Go, Baby!
Great to hear! Let’s go Baby!

Wind hippy sailing has a good channel. Watch her and get motivated. Fearless
Yea she is a beast 💪
I agree she is a great sailor.

Joel is whole again ! Well done and you should feel extremely proud of yourself ! Making waves 🤙🏻
Great work joel!!
Thanks!
Awesome Joel. Glad the first soul went so well. You rock dude.
Fair sailing Joel, you did well. DIY on the autopilot worked out well. Confidence is what you gained! thanks for the post! 🤙
Another Bum solo shakedown. BOAB hitting his stride again!
You've worked hard for this. Way to go. Enjoy!
Yea Joel!!! Congratulations on getting her sailing!!!
Thanks Karl!!!

Great deal .... your back on the water doing a great job. keep up the great work 👍
Following you for years now!! Inspirational!! If you can do this so can I!!!🥰🥰 Hope to meet you in person on an island someday!!🥰🥰
good to see you back on the water. Hard times create strong men. Strong men fly on Dacron and wind.
Well done making it there so good.
Let the boat do the work for you......cheers mate
Nice video Joel. Talking while doing.👍 Not talking about doing. Keep it up. You look much settled.
I still love the outro jive! Love you, bro!
Joel is back and Killing It!
Let’s goooooo BABY!
Forward of the mast is the best place for the dinghy unless you have room between the mast and main sheet.
Good job with the video! The multiple camera angles and the mixing in the other footage was a nice touch. 👍👍
Thanks Bill!! Love you and miss you buddy ❤️

Can’t wait to see you pull off a solo practice mission
Thank you for another mad video, I'm in Australia brother. 62 putting money away for my first yacht. Liver board, hit the East coast of my country then circumnavigate Australia. Then see where the wind takes us.
Way to go man! This was an enjoyable video to watch. Keep adventuring!
Loved this one. I wondered how the crossing between the islands went since that can be pretty dicey. Well done, sailor.
I'm super excited for what's coming next.
Thanks sailor! It is very different on Chak Matay compared to blasting up the coast on the mighty Amelia!
That may be but Chak is a sweet girl who will never be jealous of Amelia
Keep truckin buddy
Go on with your bad self!
Yeah buddy
Of concern is seeing you on board alone and not wearing your life jacket or leash...a great shakedown and the skills you have gained over the years is showing
It seems like time to find a new first mate that looks good in a bikini!🤠
And that won't leave him like the other one.
Bah. Do your thing and if a lady shows up that's up to you.
More more more like this go solo ❤
Can you give an update on your crew’s recovery from his injury? Sure hope he gets to continue his journey with you when he is all healed up.
He went to Mexico and had surgery. It went well and he is on the mends. Thanks for checking in him ❤️
The rain always waits till you lift anchor
🤣 that was my experience!
They are called squalls.🙂
Ah yes! Thanks for the reminder.
Go. Joel
Argh you’re becoming quite the seaman me mate.
Ahhh ,your videos are good medicine bro , but I still burn like a forest fire while I watch 😮💨😶🌫️🤤🥱
“I just knew if it could be done, it had to be done, and I did it.” Gertrude Ederle (first woman to swim across the English Channel) ❤️😎🥰❤️😎🥰❤️😎🥰
Joel, I'm surprise to see you not wearing a life vest , and being clipped in......please don't risk getting knocked off the boat
⛵👍
Safety line when on the deck dude !!!
Dubai?
He is doing a charter delivery. You'll see it coming up soon on the channel here.

Well that's certainly going to be a ton of fun to follow.
Doing well mate. If you do fabricate/install davits of some description - you will be so happy with the newfound ease of dinghy life.
You need to watch Sailing Gecko. She is doing it solo
ON ON !!
Next week on: Captain Joel on a Boat
Let’s gooo! Earning my stripes.
⛵
Move the mainsheet traveller to windward and get the boom more central when pinching that much into the wind.
I used to do that but thought I later learned it was like putting on the brakes.
You're doing great, go for it. But do yourself a favour and get a dodger, it looked rough in the wind and rain.
I can’t wait to finally have a dodger!
And you are still afraid of the power of your boat and the wind. you still don't enjoy sailing
Look up “good" buy Joe Rogan
